Not really true. Mr. Fredrick Graff is generally credited as the inventor of the modern fire hydrant. It is believed that he held the first patent, but no one (today) knows for certain because of the fire.

Maybe George Lucas has re-written my memories (quite likely), but didn't the original scrolling yellow letters start with "Episode IV: A New Hope"?

Speaking of fire hydrants, I heard a fire fighter on the radio the other day say the valve on fire hydrants is about six feet under ground. So the movies with a car hitting a hydrant and a geyser of water erupts aren't accurate.

Yes. I think point is the "Episode..." part was only spoken of when referring to the movies after the prequels came out or were announced. It was Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, not Episode IV etc.

Nope. There was not a subtitle (Episode IV: A New Hope) until the re-release in 1979 promoting The Empire Strikes Back. The original run was, simply, Star Wars.
