Re: Ruins of Valhalla: Top 10 Posted!!
The greatest part of this is that I can build most of these maps. I'd love to try out Desecrated Mine as it would have been my vote had I not forgot about this but I need to find a proxy for the Hive. The swamp set I got was missing it so I've never used it.
Thanks for inspiring people to build these maps guys. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: Ruins of Valhalla: Top 10 Posted!!
Great Wall and Hephaestus were my favorites, but Hephaestus ultimately got my vote.
And I can't feel too bad about Common Barrier's lack of votes - look at the maps it was competing against! This has been a lot of fun, and I'd love to have an opportunity to do something like it again sometime! |

With how successful this was, you can be assured we'll be doing something like this again. It was super fun hosting it as well.

Re: Ruins of Valhalla: Top 10 Posted!!
I have been play testing on some of these maps a bit. I started with the one I voted for. I'll just give my impressions on the ones I play here as I play on them. First one is
RUINED PIER by @Dad_Scaper After building it, I had to sit back and just take a look. Just from first glance it does resemble a pier that has crumbled down in the middle. The way it is presented with the water line on the one side , and on the other the gradual climb up on the other side suggests where the tide would roll in and out. In other words, I thought it was great. When I started to play on the map I noticed how you really play on the entire map. All of it gets used. You get in the thick of battle rather quickly. Generally the first units that are started closer to the higher elevation, they run up and meet in the middle at the back of the pier. But as the game goes on, it is easier to just run through the damaged pier towards the enemy and draw what figures are left at the top down into the fray. This map seems to be very balanced and fun to play on. There are quite a few areas that non ranged figures can hide. Overall I found it to be very enjoyable and very fun to look at in its simple yet elegant design. Thanks again for this one Dad Scaper. I'll give my feedback on all these maps as I get a chance to play on them. My wife keeps me taking down the game table more often than I'd like. That map is sick DS. Really surprised by the lack of votes.

Re: Ruins of Valhalla: Top 10 Posted!!
To be honest...I think the backstory of Dad_Scaper's map was what made it so awesome. Really brought the map alive and totally put it into context.
