The way they describe the glyphs as "magical" I think is a hint. I'm predicting each one comes with a small deck of magical glyph cards à la AotP spell cards.

Back when we got the ice tiles, I happened to notice how a glyph could fit inside (under) an ice tile and still be seen. What if the wellspring water is basically transparent, and you put any one of these magical glyphs under it, thus creating a permanent wellspring water space.

So, when a General is on a wellspring water space, he/she can do on-the-fly summoning and play a magical glyph card that comes with each magical glyph à la Planeswalker.

Or maybe certain unique heroes, not necessarily generals, could summon and play a magical glyph card, only when standing on wellspring water. Maybe the hero transforms, and you swap the "normal" sculpt for a stronger looking "special" sculpt for the same hero while standing on it. Wellspring water could be similar to chess or checkers, when a pawn or checker-piece gets to the opposite side of the board...

Based on @GaryLASQ 's brilliant discovery, it is easier to guess what 6 figures are included in the battle box and what the wellspring tiles will look lie:

So the 2 player isn't all pirates, looks like 3 pirates vs. one of the collective and two of their familiars.

It seems odd to refer to a Battle Box, which looks like the new replacement for booster packs, as a "perfect gateway to Heroscape" when it will presumably not contain rules, terrain, dice, markers, or anything else needed to play the game. The master sets are the actual gateways to the game.

Maybe it’ll have 6 dice, 2 sets of OMs, etc?

I don’t think this is accurate. The Battle box is the equivalent of a starter set, and will contain terrain/OMs/dice etc..

We have yet to see the equivalent of booster packs, but they did announce “faction packs” in their original announcement so I imagine those are still coming.

The terrain on the Battle Box background seems to be the new Laur Jungle Trees and Bushes. Is that a length of Walls in the background or a Waterfall?

But the terrain shown on the Master Set is like nothing you can make with hexes! Unless we're getting a giant Mountain with a Tunnel entrance in it.

(Edit) Too bad the new boxes don't list their terrain contents like the old ones did! Perhaps they are rejuggling the contents up to the last moment. I'd expect the Terrain Box to have a list! I hope they have lists for us on March 1 during the youtube Renegade Con segment, so we don't have to Preorder mystery boxes...

That's true, I suppose if it includes water tiles it probably has some small amount of terrain (unless it only has the water tiles, the way boosters used to come with a couple hexes). Maybe it's more like a mini master set, something smaller than a full master set but bigger than a booster pack.

From the article in the first post of this thread; The Battle from the Wellspring Box is a new offering for Heroscape and includes everything needed for two players to set up and begin the Battle for All Time, including 6 brand new prepainted figures yada yada.. In addition to 31 terrain tiles the Battle for Wellspring includes yada yada 7 Magical Wellspring tiles and then devolves into nonsense from there. But anyways, complete (small) game in a box.

Gotcha, so it's something about the size of the Marvel master set, terrain-wise. I suppose if the AoA master set comes with a fair amount of terrain, between buying the MS and all the battle boxes to get all the new figures, a new player could end with quite a good sized terrain collection to begin play.
