Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
Yea, LDing more than one project can be both stressful and could prove difficult.

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
Cool. Well if the vote goes through on the rules (check out the voting thread if you haven't!) I'll probably propose that cap next.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
I'd suggest that we have just one major project going at a time, or at least not starting the next major project until the current major project is into the testing phase. Otherwise I fear we will have 5 different big building projects going on at once and each LD will be overly concerned with their own design issues, which is where the group collaboration starts to break down. No time to think about other LDs problems and solutions when you are dealing with your own.
Furthermore, the lessons learned and solutions discussed on one project should pay dividends down the road on the next project. No need for 5 different LDs trying to invent the wheel 5 different ways all at once. What we accomplish on one project should be applied to the next to keep everything streamlined and simplified. We don't need to release them one at a time, but the bigger projects should really be designed successively rather then concurrently. |

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
I think that once the first few are done we will have a good enough formula that the one-at-time will be quite quick.

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
I think that, whether or not it's needed forever, the one-at-a-time process should be implemented in the genesis of the project.
Though numerous pronunciation attempts have been made, I have recently spurned my moniker. Feel free to refer to me as BowTieJones instead.

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
Good call, Yodaking. We might go so far as saying one design in progress total until we at least get basic templates in place and open things up a bit. I might not propose any hard and fast rules on that yet, though, and just let us govern it with common sense unless it becomes a problem.

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
It occurs to me to mention - are we actually planning to follow this process we laid out in the design threads? Or is it something that's going to be more unwieldy than useful? Is it something we should change?
I'm thinking right now that our Apartment Complex and Small House are already in the "initial build phase" but we didn't expressly go in that direction. I'm wondering if it doesn't make more sense for the "design phase" to essentially be what we did in these cases, where we vote to accept them as something we're working on in the first place, then start a thread right in the Initial Build phase? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Terrain Rules and Goals
I still think the original design path makes sense but I think there are still a lot of other general rules/issues that we have to hash through & doing it at the same time as the first LD is helpful. So basically what I am saying is that these first designs we play by ear while we sort rules & the practicalities out.

I say we go with that method, the first step was done in the voting thread, allowing us to jump into the start of the design.
