Here's another update, I'm not able to post my progress as much with grad school starting up, but I'll post my progress here when I can.




These were some C3V and SoV stuff I painted up and gave away for the Oregon NHSD event as raffle prizes. They were well received.


Some Reaper miniatures lizardfolk I painted up.




Some Reaper miniatures undead. I really like the Arachno-Assassins (the 6 armed skeletons), they have some fun sculpts and are easy to paint up.


Two dwarves I made from some reaper miniatures chibi figures, they turned out pretty good for a mod. I have 3 more of these that I'm working on changing.


Some test models for my Wrath of Kings set. A nice simple paintjob that can be done quickly.


A figure I went back to edit to fix up the skin/face, not the best, but it's better than where it was at.



A bunch of cultists from wrath of kings and reaper miniatures I painted up. They're pretty easy to paint because of the masks and not having to do faces.

It's been a few weeks since I've updated this thread, but here's my progress during that time.

Some Runewars Crossbowmen I painted up. I ended up using them in a session of D&D for some soldier grunts for my players to go against.


Some Orcs or "Aurloks" from the Alchemy game. They're cheap on Miniature market and have some pretty nice sculpts.






A variety of Reaper miniatures I painted up.


Some Dust tactics zombies I painted up. I'll probably use them with the older zombikazes custom card.


A ogre from the old arcane legions game I painted up because his old paint job was pretty awful.

Spoiler Alert!

I've been painting away some of my unpainted pile, getting through a bit of the pile (though there is more stuff coming). It's hard to believe that I'm almost done painting the Reaper Bones 4 Kickstarter with only 4 more minis to go. I'm mainly holding off on them because they're big, need special bases and their gaps filled.



This mini is called Viridius and is made by reaper miniatures. It was super fun to paint up with inks by mixing green with black and yellow to get the different greens on the model. After that I did some drybrushing and washes to get even more detail out of him. He's going to go well with my other ancient dragons.


A Triceratops from the Bones kickstarter, again painted up with inks mostly.



Some Runewars stuff painted up with washes and the trees had some drybrushing as well.


An Efreet from the Pathfinder Battles line. I experimented with some new Vallejo metallic paints. They don't seem great for speed painting because you have to seal the mini after using them because the paints are hydrophobic, but they are very smoothly to apply.


A Dark Elf Queen Mini from reaper miniatures kickstarter.



A modded Tor-Kul-Na that I'll probably use for D&D, he'll make a great demon or other monster.


Speaking of demons this one is a Demonic Lasher (aka Demogorgon) from Reaper Miniatures. It's an older metal mini, but has lots of great detail which worked well with the contrast paints.

Spoiler Alert!

In this past week I've had some fun painting with a mix of more traditional painting and some painting with inks/contrast paints.




Some demons/devils from Bones 4. All of these guys were painted traditionally and I had some fun with the wings on them.


A Nolzur's Fomorian giant. This one was done mainly with washes (with the exception of the gold on him).


A fire giant from bones 4 painted up traditionally. I do plan for him to be an addition to my fire giants faction eventually and have him be a beast master for some hellhounds.


Some Reaper cultist miniatures. Painted with contrasts and metallic.


Some polar bears from Deep Cuts. I first used contrast on them and then drybrushed them till they were mostly white.


A chaos warrior from reaper miniatures. Painted traditionally to match my other chaos warriors.


Random reaper figures. Done with contrasts and metallic. For the half orc I tried to get a greyish green skin-tone with multiple layers of contrast.


Some reaper figures and a guy from Wrath of Kings. The crabs first had an ink wash followed with layering up to the off-white color.


A cart from reaper miniatures. It's meant to go on a pig that I painted up a few weeks ago.

Spoiler Alert!

Quite a bit of progress this week (though after seeing some of the deals on Runewars on Amazon I gave in and bought quite a few of the boxes). It was a mix of painting traditionally and using contrasts.




I finished up the Alien Vs Predator miniatures game. With the aliens I basically based them in black and dry brushed blueish grey and gave it a black wash. Then I went over the heads in black and gloss sealer to give them the glossy effect. The marines used contrast paints first with a light green for the cloth and then covered the whole of them in grey to get the armor grey and the cloth greenish gray. For the Predator's skin I used yellow first and then covered it with brown washes until I liked the look.


Some Nolzur's Tabaxi Rogues that I painted up with contrast paints to go with my older ones.


Some more nolzur's miniatures. The Yuan-Ti were painted with contrast paints and I used contrast paints on the bases of the Spectres of Aldorn (currently in the SoV) to make it so they're not floating on white blobs.


Some Hill Giants that I painted up the more traditional way. The primer I got recently didn't react too well with the primer I recently got. It's probably because it was slightly different from the usual Krylon stuff I get because this one was for Indoor and Outdoor, so it probably is meant to be water repellant.


Some random monsters I painted up with contrast paints. I'll be using the card from the Northwest Heroscape Custom's Gnoll Faction for the one Gnoll in this set. I've played with the faction a few times and they're super fun.

I did quite a few more figures the past few days. I managed to finish some more Reaper stuff as well as some CMON stuff.




This guy is Mossbeard from Reaper miniatures. With this guy I experimented with basing and adding plants and moss to him. For the base I used air drying clay to get an uneven texture to the base as well as places for putting the larger plants (which I got on clearance from Michael's) I painted the base black and then green before flocking the base and adding moss and putting the plants back into their corresponding places.



Some large Reaper miniatures, including a Djinn, a large beetle, a giant catfish, a enlarged duergar and a rat ogre.


Some Nolzur's/ Deepcuts minis I painted up. There's a Grim Reaper, two Tortle adventurers, and a Bulette.


Some pre-painted pathfinder minis I touched up by giving them a wash and going over parts that were unpainted.


Quite a few different minis here, two from Wrath of Kings, two from Rum & Bones and one from Sword & Sorcery.

I managed to get quite a bit done this week, with most of the minis having an ocean theme to them.




A bunch of Rum and Bones grunts I painted up with contrast paints. I tried to switch up the colors a bit so that they could be differentiated a bit during play.



Some figures from the House Hadross faction of the Wrath of Kings game. My first time using texture paints for basing which has been fun to experiment with.

I've recently bought a bunch of stuff, so I'm working through that stuff right now. I'm mainly doing stuff with washes right now because I left my wet palette closed for a week causing it to grow mold. I've been drying it out and eventually will have to clean it out.



This is King Cobra from reaper minis. I painted up this guy with washes and I liked how he turned out.

These are some minis/statues that I found, but I have no idea who made them.


A Portal from Reaper miniatures that I painted up. It was a bit of a challenge to keep the purple magic effects clean from stray paints.




Some Large Reaper miniatures including a minotaur, a half-ogre, and a female devil. I had to use some green stuff on the devil to make her more safe for work.



Pit Fiend from Reaper Minis Bones 4 Kickstarter. I modded it by magnetizing him with so he could use all of his heads and hands, as well as adding armor to him with bits from my chaos warriors I didn't use.


10 Witch Aelves I painted up, I still have to build and paint 20 more of them.


Some heroquest Orcs and a goblin I found for $1 each (because most of them had their weapons chopped off).


Mummy from Reaper Miniatures that I also found in a $1 bin for some reason.


A half dragon from Sword and Sorcery I painted up. I'm going to try and paint them up to all be from different chromatic dragons.


Some Rum and Bones minis I got on sale from Miniature Market on sale. I definitely use them for D&D stuff.

It's been a while because I've been busy travelling around, so much so that I haven't been able to paint for a while, but I did take some pics I didn't post before I left. I've also recently got a lot of stuff from Miniature Market, more than doubling the amount of models I need to paint.

A warhammer dark elf sorceress to be used as a hag queen. I used this one as a test model for the witch elves I've been painting by using contrast paints as a basecoat and then layering up with normal paint. I've done a set of 10 elves with this method and they turned out nicely. Also, a reaper figure that i painted up with some contrast paints based on some art of some Cthulu mythos art work of Hastur that I liked.


Some Nolzur's mimcs I painted up to go with my bed mimic.


A mix of reaper and nolzur miniatures. Some are out of focus so i'll take pics of them later. Contrast paints are helpful for speed painting as I was able to get the halfing in the center ready to play in a d&d session in the same night, while only takeing around 30 min (including priming and sealing).


Some more figs from guildball that I painted up. They make good villagers for d&d and have nice detail.


Some reaper hellhounds I painted up with inks making an interesting lava effect by going back and making the cracks white so I could use inks to make the lava.


Some big monsters I painted up. The ettin was an experiment with the contrast flesh tones and I like how it turned out. The Crab monster was my attempt at getting an orange out of my reddish and yellowish brown inks, and I liked the color I got. The next one is a reaper mini that I'll probably use as a marro custom eventually. The last one is a red slaad that i painted up with contrast paints experimenting with the blending between the colors.



Some terrain I painted up mostly with washes. I tried a lot of mixing of the ink washes with each other to get darker tones as well as different oranges and browns.

So far I've been trying out the contrast paints some more, and have been testing out the blending and different colors. I also tried to sort of replicate the contrast paint with inks, matte medium, flow aid, and gloss medium/varnish, which ended up fairly successful (the main example is the mage knight black dragon I painted up). I got the idea from Goobertown Hobbies from YouTube, and I'm probably going to start investing in more inks than the contrast paints now.

Spoiler Alert!

I was able to put some more work into lowering the amount of unpainted minis I have. With all the bones 4 minis I've been looking through them and picking out groups I wanted to speed paint.


I finished up the last of my blood sisters for my Daughters of Khaine army. I still have some stuff I might get for it in the future including a Cauldron of Blood I have coming in the mail. I also started magnetizing them for storage to prevent them from moving around, and will finish magnetizing them when the magnets come through the mail.






















A bunch of the reaper minis I painted, with a menagerie of different figs. I also painted some D&D dragonborn miniatures too.



Some more Runewars miniatures that I painted up, I really liked the moose riding elf druid, just due to how strange the moose looks.

A pretty large update this week and after receiving my bones 4 minis, I've began to work on them as well.


These are some Bones Black reaper miniatures, an efreeti on the left and a rock troll on the right. These were in bones 4 but I bought the promotional figures, so I ended up with a dupe of the Efreeti.


Just a single reaper mini that I painted up.


A copper dragon from the unpainted D&D line. The new set of dragons are mislabeled as "young" but are the size of an "adult". A very simple paintjob, because the artwork I worked from had the copper dragon really plain.



These were the minis that I painted up from the Guildball game. I'll most likely use them for D&D/ Heroscape instead though.




I bought a used Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Daughters of Khaine army. Most of these are just touched up from the originals.






The bones 4 minis I've been able to work through so far.

I modded together a Saurus Oldblood from remaining bits from my seraphon start collecting set. I had to give him a back and a tail, with some greenstuff to fill the gaps.





Some werewolves from wrath of kings that I painted up to work as more vark squads.



A tiefling on Nightmare that I modded from a knight from reaper miniatures by adding horns to his head.





Some used Warhammer minis that I bought a while ago that were base coated, but didn't have any shading. I ended up using washes and in the last picture I used miniwax wood stain to use as a wash and really liked how they looked for the little amount of effort I put in.

Haven't updated this thread in a while, so here's the progress I've made in the past month or so.


This one is Xanathar, from Gale Force 9's D&D Collector's series. The resin it was made out of was pretty janky with lots of mold lines and gaps, which I wasn't able to fully get rid of.



This is the last big mini from reaper I had to paint, and I like how the terrasque turned out.


This is Reaper's new Fire Giant Queen, which I ended up painting to match my previous one.



A dark young miniature from Reaper miniatures, which I had fun painting up.


This is an angel figure from Reaper Miniatures that I tried to paint up with some OSL, probably should have pushed the contrast more, but I still like how it turned out.






I bought a starter army box for Wrath of Kings from CMON, which I picked up for a good discount. I also found a way to use some scenic bases I had, which weren't being used.

I recently got some more unpainted minis while waiting for the Reaper Bones 4 Kickstarter to fulfill which should be around the end of March or April depending on shipping.






I finished off the Uthuk Runewars Miniatures army box that I bought. I followed the previous paint jobs that I did on the squads and followed the same schemes for the heroes, making one more marro-ish.


This ones another mod based off of the NHWC's Tu-Rok-Sa. I played against him in the most recent tournament I went to and ended up using a spare Ne-Gok-Sa to make him.


I painted up some Human rogue's from the wizkids miniature line to make a unique squad.


This one is a spell effect for D&D that comes from the wizkids line that I painted up.


I had an extra Kurrok that was pretty badly damaged (missing a foot with the other soon to fall of) so I fixed him up by replacing his boot and giving him a new base.


This guy is T'Raukzul made by Reaper miniatures that I painted up. He makes for a very nice option for a gargantuan sized dragon that's a little larger than the white dragon (from the WotC D&D line) in my profile pic.

I've been a bit busy these past few week to update, but I've been continuing painting.


These are some Druid Mist Riders from Hordes that I ended up painting. As much as I like how they look, I did find them difficult to paint up because they were cavalry figures.


These are some Goliaths from the wizkids miniature line.





Some various reaper miniatures that I painted up. The first one was in metal and the other two were plastic.



This one is Dagon made by reaper Miniatures. This one was my first time using green stuff to fill gaps on a mini.



This is a gargantuan Green Dragon from the wizkids line. A fairly quick and easy paint job.


This guy started out as an Othkurik with parts added to him to replace his missing parts. These parts were mainly from unused Warhammer bits.

Some more updates this week.



This is an Owlbear made by Reaper miniatures as part of their bones black line. Another good option for a Kozil proxy.



A Safari Ltd. Hydra that I painted up and tested my acrylic inks on. I ended up liking the results from the inks.



Some wizkids minis: a maralith (a snake lady demon) and a bone devil.



Another reaper miniature. This one is called Shipwreck Revenant.



A Dragon Golem from reaper miniatures that I painted up, and used the boiling water trick to bend the wings. The wings come perfectly straight, and I like the bent look because it makes the model look more dynamic.





I ended up painting the contents of the Troglodytes box from the Massive Darkness game made by Cool Mini or Not. They make a good option for dreadgul proxies, and fit in fairly well with the squad.

I haven't updated this thread in a while, but I've still been making more progress with painting, even though I didn't update the thread.


This is a Wizkids Beholder miniature that I painted up. I didn't glue in the eye stalks so that I can switch them out with the ones with spell effects.


This is a treant from the Wizkids line that I painted up and put some mini shrubbery to give him some leaves.




This was a dragon figure from Safari Ltd that I repainted and put on a wooden base.



This is a Reaper Mini's Minotaur Demon Lord, that I put on a double base. I was able to try out some india inks from Michael's that I know use as different brown washes.


A triceratops from the Wizkids D&D line.



two different reaper minis, one is a half orc merchant and the other is a human ranger.




These were some minis from Sword and Sorcery board game expansions that I painted up. One set was a druid with a bear form and a the other was an undead pirate.



This is a Gorgoloth from reaper miniatures that can be used to be a Aboleth from D&D. I put him on a flying base that I had because he doesn't come with it's own stand.


These are a set of Derro by Reaper miniatures. In D&D Derro are basically dwarf human hybrids, that are from the underdark.


These were some random minis that I found that are from some boardgame with aliens. They were pretty easy to paint up, and I like how they can work for a fantasy or sci-fi game.


These are some carrion crawlers that I painted up, one from wizkids, one from Reaper miniatures. I painted them up green, because I preferred their older color scheme as compared to their tannish color.


These are some Tabaxi (Cat People) from D&D that I painted up. It was fun putting in the spots on them.

This past week or so I've been able to make some progress painting minis.



I got some toy dragons from Michaels on black Friday for a nice discount. This was originally a blueish colored dragon that I repainted as a silver dragon for D&D.


This is a shambling mound from the Nolzur's line that was fairly easy to paint by drybrushing brown and green, and then picking out details.


These some Nolzur's Ghouls that I painted because that was one of the main types of undead I didn't have miniatures for. They were pretty quick easy to paint up.


These are some townsfolk from reaper bones that I painted up. I'm planning on adding some more townsfolk minis to my collection.


These are some mindflayers from the Nolzur's line that I painted up.


I painted up two pathfinder barbarians from the Deep Cuts line that are the equivalent of the reaper mini in the back that I previously painted, showing the difference between the two lines.


These are two Reaper mini cultists that I painted up.










These are a variety of reaper minis that I painted up, with no connecting theme between them besides they were in my paint pile.

I was out of the house this past week and not able to paint, but I got back and here is my progress that I did before my trip.




I finished up Kaladrax from Reaper Miniatures. This guy was one of the last preproduction ones that Reaper still had available. He was pretty simple to paint up with 3 main colors one for the bones, the rot/skin and the horns and spikes.


This was Gunslinger by reaper miniatures. It's a metal miniature that makes an interesting kyrie miniature.


These were two free reaper minis I got for my order that I painted up. I tried to make their color schemes different and I really like the blueish steel of the one on the right that I made by mixing metallic and dark blue paint.


This one is another bugbear miniature from reaper that is a metal mini that I picked up and painted.


These two are Christmas witches from reaper miniatures that I painted up going with different colors. They're both metal minis.



This is another metal reaper mini that I painted up. It's a mindflayer pirate which I found to be an interesting concept.



Another metal reaper mini that I painted up. The plastic version will come out eventually as part of bones 4, but I didn't put in the add on she's in so I won't have to wait for over a year for it to come out in plastic.

With winter break I've had a bunch of free time to paint up some of my unpainted pile, as well as starting some of my larger projects. Most of the miniatures that I painted this time are Runewars miniatures because both Miniature Market and Coolstuffinc had sales on them recently.





These were some Runewars Elves that I speed-painted with my new paints.


These are some Runewars Elf heroes that I painted up to match the other ones.

I was able to make some more progress in my painting as well as finally finishing up the shades of Bleakewoode I made copies of.


These were the shades I made finally painted up. I think the one on the left turned out the best, the middle one had a muddied up face and the right one had a bunch of flash.


This one is a Reaper miniatures hobgoblin.



I picked up some more minis of a cat and a tiny hippo. I don't know what line their from because I got them loose from my FLGS.



This mini is the Owlbear from the Nolzur's paint set that I got. I like how he ended up and currently he's my favorite owlbear mini I have.


This one is the Bathalian Primarch from Reaper miniatures that I used to try my new paints from the paint set I got.


These were the last two Relic Knights miniatures that I needed to paint up. To paint the green I used Game Workshops HexWraith Flame paint (which is sort of a wash). I ended up knocking over the pot and lost like 2/3 of the paint. At least it wasn't on any carpet and didn't get on my clothes.


These guys are some miniatures from the Runewars miniatures game that I painted up.



This miniature is the Gargantuan Red Dragon from Wizkid's unpainted pathfinder miniature line. He was pretty easy and fun to paint up, the main issue I had was reaching some spots under his spikes and wings.

I've been a bit busy with school lately, so I haven't been painting as much as I've liked and my paint pile has grown a bit since Miniature Market's Black Friday sale. I did end up getting some more paints, which will end up expanding my palette (I also recently got a proper wet palette which has been nicer than my homemade one).


On black Friday I bought a few of the toys from Michael's that I'm thinking of repainting. This is the first one I did repainting a bald eagle as a Roc for D&D or Heroscape. This one also has a Heroscape double base that I started making from a mold.



This is an Ogre Matriarch from Reaper minis that I painted up.



Some more Reaper mini Ogres that I painted up and I plan to use one of the cards from the custom contest that was a while ago.



Another Reaper mini bugbear that I did finishing all the bones bugbear sculpts





These two are from the female wizard Deep cuts line from Wizkids.


This last one is a Elf mini from Reaper that I painted up as a Drow.

These were the tharn ravagers that I fixed up finally painted, some look better than others, but it's good that they have all there parts back.


I bought a bunch of Myconids from the Nolzur's miniature line, and speed painted them up today which is why they look a little wet due to the drying sealant.


I found this guy in the miscellaneous miniatures bin and really liked the idea of a pirate dog. I have no idea what line it is from or what miniature it is though.




This was another figure in the miscellaneous miniature bin that I painted up. I think it is either a hordes or warmachine model, but I'm not sure. I wanted to practice painting yellow, and it was a fun mini to paint.



I got two more reaper bones deep ones painted up to match with my previous two, and was able to color match them pretty well.


These are some reaper bones hobgoblins that I painted up. I wanted to go with a more red skin tone as compared to Kurrok's brown skin tone, because I prefer the color.

I took some time this week to work on newer figures that I ordered as well as trying to repair some older miniatures.




A Reaper miniatures Vampire miniature that I got for free from my order from their site's Halloween promotion as well as some paints and a translucent grey shadow. I painted her up with very pail skin with the paints they gave me.



Another Reaper Bugbear miniature that I painted up this week.




A Reaper bones armored ogre that I painted up. I eventually want to get and paint up the other ogres in the Bones line.





Some Tharn Ravagers and a leader that they have from the Hordes game. I got them from ebay with a paint job that was chipping so I fixed them up and sealed them to make them look nice.




With the newer Tharn Ravagers I got I was able to make a mold of their weapons and shields to fix some older ones up and repair them. Currently still have two more that need some arms and spears still.

This time I did quite a bit of painting and here are the results.




I did another gelatinous cube this week this time with the one from the Nolzur's D&D miniature line. I originally used a wash on the cube, but it ended up too opaque to see what was inside it so I had to scrub it with a sponge while still leaving a bit of green wash on it.


This was Pathfinder Silver dragon from the Deep Cuts line that I painted up as a bronzish dragon while experimenting with games workshops' hexwraith flame technical paint as a wash. It ended up giving a very green metallic which is interesting.





I recently bought a box of Unmarried Zulu Warriors made by Warlord games that I painted up to use with Scytale's custom Zulus. I also made the extra Zulus into two different unique squads.



This one is a Chimera from Reaper bones that I painted up with a red dragon head.


This was a Shade of Bleakewood copy that I painted up that was my first run at using a mold to copy a figure.


This one is Hordes model from Privateer press that goes along with some more Hordes models that that I have unpainted.


This is the figure for Gothlok that I painted up a bit because the wolf had broken spikes and to try and get his skin to be grey like the deathchasers. Eventually I want give his flag a Valkrill symbol instead of the red hand.


This one is a Minc and Boo miniature in the D&D paint set for Nolzur's and uses a Gale Force Nine D&D miniature.



This is a Reaper bones bugbear that I painted up and is next to one that I previously painted. I also have another reaper bugbear that I'm going to paint up, hopefully this week.


This one is a reaper bones miniature of a barbarian that I painted at the same time as the bugbear I painted this week.



These are some Nolzur's Aasimar that I painted up to be Aquillan Kyrie. I painted these up to match the previous two that I painted.

This week I'm adding some miniatures that I did this week as well as some that I painted last week and forgot to take pictures of.






This was reaper bones' Cthulhu that I had a blast painting. I ended up using a lot of drybrushing to take the base of a dark green to a bright lime green to bring out all the texture in the figure. He's about 8 inches tall.




This one was a Frost Giant Queen also from Reaper bones, and finishes up the last of my giants that I was painting.


This one is a Shadow demon from reaper miniatures that came in a translucent purple plastic. I gave him a thicker black wash to tone down the color and picked out his eyes and mouth with red.


This one was a star wars miniature that was missing his arm so I replaced it with some seraphon bits from Warhammer.



Some more reaper bones that are deep ones and are sort of acting as a test of a paint scheme I want for the Dagon reaper miniature that I have.

These past few weeks I've been a bit too busy to post my progress, but I still have been painting at a decent pace.


This was a reaper miniature of a Gnome wizard that I ended up painting up.

This week I painted some more Soda Pop Miniatures, and also started to use some molds and resin and experiment with them.


This mini is Lug from soda pop miniatures' Relic Knights game that I painted up in Omnicron colors.

These are Suspect 7 from Relic Knights that I painted up Twilight Clan Ninjas


These ones are Pit Crew from Relic Knights that I painted up.


I started experimenting with some molds and resin to make a replacement head and a shade of bleakewoode. With the Shade of Bleakewoode the resin dried before I could fill the mold, but it did end up giving him a neat whispy effect, but next time I should be able to fill the mold and make shades from my three molds.

This past week and a half I painted up quite a few minis. I also received an order of miniatures from Miniature Market which has some cool minis that I still need to paint up.


This is Cola from the Relic Knights Game from Soda Pop Miniatures. I recently ordered a bunch of miniatures and bases from Miniature Market because there was a nice sale on them.


This one is a Reaper miniature, of which I don't know the name. I really like how her cape turned out with the orange and yellow.


This is a Reaper Bugbear miniature. I really like how the muscles turned out and ow the layering turned out.






These were some Sword and Sorcery miniatures that I also picked up from Miniature Market that were pretty fun to paint up.



This is a Malifaux Miniature called Perdita Avatar of Revelation. This one is a metal model and feels like it weighs a pound. This mini is the largest metal miniature I've worked with and it was nice practice with pinning which I had to do with the rider and the manticore and the base. I got this mini from my FLGS for $10, but online it looks like it's out of print and costs a lot.



I painted up my Reaper bones Hydra and put him on a Heroscape base. I used some cork to cover up the holes in the base.



This is an Owlbear from the Unpainted D&D miniatures line. It was fun to use a dry brush on the feathers and the Eyes were super fun to paint. I tried to make the paint scheme a mix between a grizzly bear and a great horned owl.





This uses the parts of the Troglodon and Carnasaur set in the Age of Sigmar Seraphon Start Collecting set. I magnetized the head so that the head can be switched as well as the rider to be played as either. I also magnetized the base so that it can be used in Heroscape or Age of Sigmar.

I wasn't able to post this past weekend, but I have been able to keep painting minis, some of which I have bought recently, while also finishing some older ones that I was working on.



These are some Tyranid Genestealers that I painted up with a Marro paint scheme.



I got a set of Tau Stealth Suits from Warhammer 40K which I used for a test paint scheme of black and red.


This guy is a Chaos Lord from Age of Sigmar that was painted up to match my Chaos Warriors.




With the recent release of the new Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures wave I bought 10 Thri-Kreen that I painted up.




I also got some new Dragonborn that I painted up with different scale colors, instead of my standard bronze/gold color.


This one is a Dark Elf Queen from Reaper.

Spoiler Alert!

This week is a smaller update because I was busy finishing up my internship and getting ready to move back to college. I ended up painting the rest of my Runewars miniatures and a Night Hag for D&D as well as magnetizing two flying saucers from the Mars Attacks Miniatures line and a Carnasaur/Troglodon for Age of Sigmar. This currently leaves me with 12 miniatures that I still need to paint, but I'm probably going to buy more this weekend.


This was a Invisible Night Hag from the D&D miniatures line from Wizkids. I opted to get the Invisible one instead of the prepainted one because it was $3 instead of $15.




These are the 12 Daqan Knights that I painted up from the Runewars Miniature Game. They were interesting to paint up, and were my last set of cavalry figures I needed to paint up.

Spoiler Alert!

This week I ended up caving in and bought about 50 minis, but I was able to burn through them by speed painting most of them, leaving my previous total to about 25 more miniatures I need to paint.



This is a reaper miniature called Kyra and Lavarath. I ended up painting the two of them as an Aquillan flagbearer. I also ended up using some paint markers to highlight the silver and gold, which was fun to play around with because they require less skill with a brush than normal edge highlighting.


This was how I ended up painting my last Nakita agent, who I tried to paint up as an Evil Agent/Assassin figure.



This is another Reaper miniature called Feiya Iconic Human Witch from Reaper's pathfinder miniature line.


Yet Another Reaper miniature called Count Lorenth. I painted him up to sort of match up with the Knights of Blaakgard from the C3V.


This Reaper miniature is Elven Sorceress, Andriessa. I really like how the blues came out on her clothes and boots.


This Reaper mini is Sarah the Seeress. I really liked how her dress came out with the different shades of green.


This mini is an old metal Slann from Warhammer Fantasy. I tried to paint him up as the colors of a poison dart frog. Originally he didn't come with a shield, but I ended up making one from some extra unused bits.




These are some Tau Firewarriors that I ended up painting this week. I like how they turned out, and I found out how annoying it can be to paint white with shading.




These are some Tau Pathfinders that I painted this week, 10 of which I repainted because I didn't really like the paint job I gave them and wanted them to match my new ones.





I ended up getting 24 more Chaos Warriors and I ended up painting them the same way as I painted my previous 12.

Spoiler Alert!

This week I bought a few more minis as well as painting a few that I already had to bring down my unpainted total to 25 more minis.


I ended up ordering a bunch of heroscape I didn't have in my collection yet and bought an extra set of Nakita agents to paint up as Agent Skahen. Unlike the official paint job I drybrushed a little dark grey on the black parts of her mini to help define the cloth.


I also painted up another of the Nakita Agents as one of Pumpkin_King's customs. It's interesting to see how much detail is hidden by the simple white paint job of the original figure.




This figure is a Reaper Bones Female Anti-Paladin. I ended up buying this one this week as a break from painting cavalry and large monsters.



These are the Medusas from the Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures line that I bought this week and painted up.




This figure is Mashaaf, Great Old One from Reaper miniatures that I painted up as a huge Marro Monstrosity. She was fun to paint up and I liked using hot glue on the base.







The first few pictures are of Dwarf Brock Riders from Mantic Games' Kings of War miniatures line. I also included some mounted dwarves that I painted this Spring.

This week I painted a few more figures bringing me down to around 36 more that I need to paint.



This week I painted 8 Saurus Cavalry from Age of Sigmar, leaving only 1 more model from my Start Collecting set that I still need to build and paint.



This guy is a Dragon Tortoise from Reaper Miniatures.


This is a Balor made by Reaper Miniatures that I ended up painting as a Balrog. I tried to do a little object source lighting from the fire on him, but I think I could have increased the brightness of the OSL, but I still like how he turned out.


This one is a Behir from Reaper miniatures. Unfortunately, He doesn't fit on any sort of Heroscape base so I based him on one of my leftover huge D&D bases.


This is a Storm Giant from Pathfinder Battles that I painted up to match the Storm Giants of older D&D.


This guy is a Fire Giant Dreadnought from the Monster Menagerie 3 set of D&D miniatures that I painted up to match Shurrak and my other giants. Originally he had a greyish blue skin tone.

After coming back from vacation I was ready to paint up a bunch of figures (I ended up painting 33 figures leaving 47 to go).




I ended up painting 4 more dragonborn from the Nolzur's Marvelous D&D Miniatures line giving me a total of 12 of them (3 squads of 4). The second two pictures are of the ones that I did previously.


This is a Coral Golem from Reaper miniatures. It was fun working with a bunch of bright colors.


These guys are Leonyx Cavalry from the Runewars Miniatures Game. I eventually I want to get 2 more sets of these guys so that I can have 4 squads of 3.





These guys are a set of Saurus Warriors from Age of Sigmar that I painted up as LizardFolk. They go well with Ullar's vipers and lizardfolk. I still have 8 mounted Lizardfolk that I need to paint, and a Lizardfolk on a giant dinosaur that I have to build, paint and magnetize (not really looking forward to building the big guy).


These are some Chaos Warriors also from Age of Sigmar that I painted up. I started out painting them black and dry brushing their capes and armo before picking out details to finish them.

I ended buying a bunch of unpainted figures from FLGSs, I managed to paint all of them this week, resulting in me still having around 75 more figures I still need to paint. I wanted to finish all the stuff I bought this week because I'm going to take a red eye flight tonight to go on vacation for a week.


This is Alahazrah, Iconic Oracle from Reaper miniatures. I like how she ended up and I really enjoy painting PC's from the Reaper bones line.


This is another Reaper mini called a shadow hound that comes in translucent purple plastic. I like painting up translucent minis because they are fast to paint and end up looking nice with minimal effort with just a dry brush and some picked out details.


This a Displacer beast from Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures (the unpainted D&D miniatures line). This was another speed paint like the shadow hound that mainly used drybushing blue on black and picking out details like eyes and claws.

I was able to pick up some old confrontation minis for cheap, and these two are banshees. They were really fun to speed paint with a lot of dry brushing.

Spoiler Alert!

This week I worked on a few of the larger figures I had laying around that were unpainted.


This guy is the Frost Giant King by Reaper miniatures. He's a pretty cool mini that fits in well with the Frost Giants of Morh (as well as all my other frost giants).


This guy is a Balor from the Legend of Drizzt Board game. He was my last mini from the D&D Board game minis that I had to paint. I ended up painting him gray to keep him different from the pre painted Balor that I have that has the same sculpt.


This is an Ice Wyrm by Reaper miniatures. This guy was really fun to paint because of how much texture the model had which allowed for lots of nice dry brushing and washes.



The is a Spirit of the Forest made by Reaper miniatures. I ended up gluing on shrubs to his head branches to add some detail.


These are the finished Daqan Infantry from the Runewars Miniatures game, that I showed the WIP of last week.


This is a Faceless Horror (aka a Gibbering Mouther) made by Reaper miniatures. It was a lot of practice for eyes and teeth.

Spoiler Alert!

This week I was able to make a fair amount of progress on my unpainted minis bringing down my count to 81 unpainted figures.



This guy is a Troll by Reaper miniatures. I painted him up to go with the Marsh Trolls in my Customs thread.


This guy is a Reaper Frost giant that I painted up to match my other frost giants. I really like painting the blueish white skin tone.


This is a Jabberwock from reaper miniatures. This mini tends to have leaning problems, so I had to glue his foot on a rock.


This guy is Golan, Hill Giant by Reaper miniatures. I was able to practice skin tone with the large surface areas, as well as blending in pimples and wounds. The base that I has was sort of messed up so I ended up flocking it and adding some scenery.


These are a set of Tharn Bloodletters by Privateer Press for their Hordes game. I really like some of the Tharn models and their barbaric elf look.


This is a group of 24 Daqan Infantry from the Runewars Miniatures Game from Fantasy Flight Games. In the picture they are still drying after using a black wash to enhance the details in the sculpt. I like to mount medium figures on paint bottles with sticky tack so I can hold them without messing up the paint.

Spoiler Alert!

This week I mainly painted some Reaper minis that I bought recently, but was able whittle down the number of figures I need to paint a little bit.


This guy is the newer Fire giant king (the old one would be a large this one is huge sized) by Reaper miniatures. I'm trying to work through a lot of my larger Reaper miniatures which is going well so far.


This guy is a Dragonborn (with some weird name) from reaper miniatures. He's pretty bulky (around medium 6). I tried to highlight the scales individually (usually I would just drybrush) and I think it turned out okay.


This one is a Female Oni from Reaper miniatures who is also around a medium 6 in size. She was pretty fun to paint, I liked the red skin tone ( I tend to use it for most of my Tiefling figures)


These are the Aasimar Clerics from Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures (the unpainted D&D line) that I painted up as Aquillan Kyrie. These are the only two that I have, but eventually I want to get a couple more for a common squad. A warning about painting these guys, the one on the right has the magic effects glued in which blocks most of the figure. I had to break it and re-glue it to paint the figure, otherwise the angles would be near impossible.



I got 2 more Clanwars miniatures painted. I tried to paint them as Kozuke samurai, and eventually I want to get some Samurai Horsemen to make a squad of Samurai Horsemen with a Kozuke color scheme.



This one is a mummy lich by Reaper Miniatures. The thing that I found most challenging with painting this guy was trying to keep his cloak, sand and skull distinct, but still sandy looking.





This one is another reaper mini called Troll Slayer Sophie. She was pretty fun to paint up as a kyrie. I ended up painting her with a lighter Caucasian skin tone because I wanted to practice that skin tone a bit. I tend to start off with a light brown base color for skin color and then highlight, but This time I used more of a pinkish color as a base coat and worked up from there.

Spoiler Alert!

The most recent guy that I painted is the Fire Giant Jailer from reaper bones, he's the same height as Shurrak and a bit bulkier than the other Reaper Fire Giants that I painted a few months ago. I eventually plan to make some customs for them as I have basic ideas for a faction planned out for a high point giant army.



This guy is another Reaper Bones miniature called Jungle Titan, He looks pretty cool as a monster on a Jungle map.






I finally managed to paint most of my Mars Attacks martians (I still have two flying saucers I need to paint). These guys have sat unpainted for a few years and I liked painting them as a break from fantasy miniatures, I also liked painting them because of their bright color palette.

This guy is Sharkman from Reaper miniatures, he's basically a huge WereShark (Reaper has a large array of strange Lycanthropes that look pretty neat).


This one is the Female Cloud Giant from Reaper miniatures, I wanted to make her have purple skin for some reason. I really like how her club turned out.


This guy is the Red Dragon from the Wrath of Ashardalon D&D Boardgame. I speed-painted him up as a Grey Dragon. He is one of the Largest figures that I've painted yet, but I have much larger ones that are unpainted (the biggest are Dagon, Khanjira (a D&D Terrasque), and Mashaaf (a huge worm monster I want to paint up with a Marro theme).




These two are old metal minis from the Clan War Legend of the Five Rings miniatures line. They make for good monks or townsfolk figures for Heroscape and D&D, respectively.



These guys are also from Clan Wars, and are goofy looking samurai goblins that were just begging to be painted up and made into a heroscape custom.

These guys were from the 2nd Reaper learn to paint set I got yesterday (I mostly got it for the paints, as I'm starting to get higher quality paints). These guys were also the first I used a wet palette for, and I can't believe how much easier that it made painting (because it kept my paint from drying out).


This one was a metal reaper mini that I got from a LFGS, and she was pretty fun to paint up.



This guy is a reaper bones mini, and makes for a pretty cool sahuagin cleric or champion.



Another reaper bones mini, this guy is a merrow (in this case an aquatic ogre). I tried to paint him up similarly to some Marsh Trolls that I have (as can be seen in my customs thread).

This guy is a reaper Avatar of Sokar I've been looking to get this mini for a long time, and I like how he turned out. The base I used is a 38 mm wood base from Michaels which are around like 3-4 bucks for 22 bases and are even cheaper with their coupons.





These guys are Trollbloods from Hordes that I got from a local game store. The store I go to sells used figures for less than retail which can be a good deal, especially when the figures are pre-painted. I got these guys and they all had a basecoat, that was flaking off, but I was able to repair them and paint them up. They all had bits broken off that I had to glue, and for the big guy I had to pin the little troll back on him (as it was a metal figure).

This one is a Reaper miniature, I really liked the pose of this one in particular, and it was my first time decorating a base with flocking materials.


This guy was from the Wrath of Ashardalon D&D Board Game. I've painted almost every figure from that set as well as the Castle Ravenloft and Legend of Drizzt sets, with most of the figures being very fun to paint. I decided to paint this guy as a Genasi because I thought his hair sorta conveyed an elemental feel.



These are the skeletons from the Runewars Miniature Game I finished painting on Saturday (I painted a total of 16 of these guys). I really like the sorta cartoony feel of the figures from Runewars and like how they fit in with 'Scape figures. I got the core set and a few other boxes from Fun Again games for about half of retail, and I'm looking to get the Elf army box eventually so that I can have a set of elves riding lions.

I'll probably update this thread from time to time with new figures that I've painted as well as some of my older ones that turned out well.
