Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
This was for the most part listed in the Lawman faction thread that GP worked on and was pretty much his design. Only thing I really changed was to increase the range from 6 to 7 and lower the cost estimate down to 30 from 40.
Toyed with the idea of doing something like with the Kree Scout for these guys, first of all I didn't know if people thought it was necessary for these guys and that keeping them around 30 points would be preferred or maybe going up to 40 with something like this would be preferred: S.W.A.T. HERO BONDING After revealing an Order Marker on this card and after taking a turn with a S.W.A.T. figure, you may immediately take a turn with any other S.W.A.T. Hero figure you control. The other thing is if used here, should it be used on the Riot Control and Special Weapons common heroes cards? Also, would the reference in the power text of S.W.A.T. figure be enough to include S.W.A.T. Riot Control and S.W.A.T. Special Weapons to be activated. Of course, this could be all for nothing if we just want to keep these guys very simple and cheap. Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
I actually like the idea of cheap fillers so I would prefer it without the bonding power, but if others want it, then I'm not against it either.

Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
I'd prefer the bonding. I think it would make them more fun to play and I'd rather have them be worth drafting than be cheaper and not as much fun.

Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
I'd personally leave off the bonding - save it for future units (Lt. Stone, that Gordon that Bats has drafted, a possible SWAT Commander common hero). I think simpler is better here.

Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
For reference, here's what GP had for Lt. Gordon. I don't know if Bats is going in the same direction with him or not, but if he is, this could cover some bonding for these guys.
Human Unique Hero Lawman Resolute Medium 5 Life 4 Move 5 Range 5 Attack 3 Defense 4 Points 120 COMMANDING OFFICER After revealing an Order Marker on this card and before taking a turn with Lieutentant Gordon you may take a turn with one of the following that you control:
Add 1 to the 20-sided die roll for all Vigilante figures you control. And here is what I have for Lt. Stone. Not a turn bonding, but just movement bonding. NAME = LT. STONE SECRET IDENTITY = MARCUS STONE SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = LAWMAN PERSONALITY = ELITE SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 6 ATTACK = 3 DEFENSE = 5 POINTS = 90? COORDINATED EFFORTS After revealing an Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with Lt. Stone, you may take a turn with one Code: Blue Officer you control. After taking that turn with that Code: Blue Officer, you may move any combination of up to 2 other Uncommon or Common Lawmen you control up to 2 spaces each. Possible change to help with Assaulters Quote:
CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION Criminal figures roll 1 less defense against Lt. Stone's normal attack. ARMOR PIERCING ROCKET SPECIAL ATTACK Range 5. Attack 4. For each skull rolled when attacking with this special attack, the defending figure subtracts 1 from its defense. Lt. Stone can only attack a non-adjacent figure with this special attack and can only used Armor Piercing Rocket Special Attack once per round. That said, here's what I've got for Captain Gordon: [redacted] It's not set in stone, though, by any means. Either way, I say keep this one simple and we can add synergy in later on another card. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
Good stuff Bats
I think it's a good idea to plan this out a little bit ahead so we are aware of what's going on and what's to come in regards to synergies. Here's what GP had in the Lawman faction thread for [redacted]: Quote:
So I wanted something a little more SWAT specific and also help SWAT as a team of the three different figures somehow feel like they are working together even in a limited manner without needing a Lt./Capt. whatever. So here's what I quickly thought of for the Shield SWAT figures Quote:

Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
Cool. I'd love to still see some plain old [redacted] using that write up from GP, though. Would we still have a mini we could use for that?
Would Synchronized Assault work with both common heroes and common squad figures? If so, this might read more clearly: SYNCRONIZED ASSAULT After revealing an Order Marker on this card and taking a turn with a S.W.A.T. Assaulter, if a S.W.A.T. Assaulter you control moved into engagement with an opponent's figure this turn, you may attack with one other Common Lawman figure you control. Or is it meant to be all common figures?? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of S.W.A.T. Rifleman - design phase
Not to derail the thread which is for the Rifleman, but another option I'd toyed around with for the shield figures ([redacted]) is making them a squad of 2 or 3. That type of role would typically work together in forming a line ([redacted] ) as opposed to providing cover for a Rifleman.
Just glad to see the SWAT getting some love. I'm sure whatever happens with them they'll turn out great. Last edited by IAmBatman; June 30th, 2013 at 09:46 PM. |
