Someone already tested Virtualscape on Windows 10 ?
With windows 8.1 I already has some little trouble and had to change the configuration of NVidia... so I fears a little with windows 10... ^^ |

I just tried VS on my Windows 10 computer for the first time, and the high-quality button doesn't work at all. It makes the whole map image go black. Any thoughts on this?

your OpenGL drivers are not supported in Win10.
Get the latest Win10 compatible drivers for your video card. |

I have the same issue. I had to launch VS with my dedicated graphic card (NVIDIA GTX850M), and then it worked.

I've been playing over on the 3D Terrain STL Files thread with OpenSCAD and my new 3D printer, and I've created a tool that allows people to generate their own custom tile models to print. Unfortunately, this also allows them to create tiles that can't be added to the 'Personal Tiles' list in Virtualscape, and would have to be footed out as other tiles or combinations of tiles.
The 'personal tiles' function in Virtualscape allows you to add your custom tiles to the library, defining their top and side images and map color. However, the tiles you can select for this are the stock tile types -- 1, 2, 3, 7, and 24 hexes. My tool allows you to generate, either as full-height (ground) or half-height (water/ice/lava) tiles, a single hex, a row of 2-5 hexes, a triangle of 3 hexes, a diamond of 4 hexes, a 2x3 block of hexes (like the glacier base), or a 7-hex circle, using a user-supplied heightmap for the texture of ground tile faces (at the 'tool' link above, click on 'Open in Customizer' to go to the customization page). Some of them can be faked up on a map with combinations of the stock tiles -- the 2x3 can be represented by two 3-hex triangles -- but there's no ability to add personal 'water' tiles. I don't know how many people are going to be using the custom-tile tool to make the odd-sized tiles, though, so I don't know whether it's going to be worthwhile to add the option for those tile types. While there are 3D printing services all over, owning your own 3D printer is still fairly rare, and production speed makes it unlikely that people will acquire large libraries of custom tiles. I also created a 3D model for waterfall tiles to remedy a gap that I'd seen people come up with different solutions for, but that's going to be more complicated to do, because it can't use the existing tile geometry and needs to have a texture for the waterfall face. |

Anybody have any help on why VirtualScape turns everything black (except start zone dots) when I try to render a high quality image?
I'm running Windows 10, a new machine I got a couple weeks ago. |
