Games are played using the online Heroscape interface. An explanatory video is below:
Spoiler Alert!
Full Screen Mode is recommended for watching these videos!
Description of the interface:
Demonstration of live play:
For this special event, players will be paired up as 2-person teams. Due to the potential difficulty of scheduling a game between 4 people at once, only players with a good scheduling and communication record will be accepted for this event. Also, voice chat capability is required.
We highly recommend that you find a teammate before signing up, so that you can coordinate armies with him/her. When signing up with a teammate, make sure you both request to be paired with the other, so that we know to pair you together. You may sign up as an individual, and be paired randomly with another individual. However, this could lead to unbalanced army teams for the two of you, and it makes scheduling more difficult. We encourage people to post requests for teammates and discuss their armies with their teammate before signing up, and only sign up as an individual if you can't find anyone to play with.
The format of the event will be a swiss format with a maximum of 16 teams (32 players). There will be one undefeated champion team at the end of the event. Because of the limited spaces and scheduling concerns with this event, you are not guaranteed a place in the event until your bid is confirmed. However, the earlier you apply to play, the better your chances.
Games will be kill-'em-all. When signing up, each player will submit a set of two armies with a max of 650 points and 28 hexes between them. Each individual army has a limit of 350 points and 18 hexes. The four armies (each of the two parts of an army team and the two army teams) cannot use any of the same cards. VC allowed, no Marvel. Figures from the C3V’s Wave 16’s Hero pack will be allowed, but note that you will only have 3 days left to sign up if you wait until it is released.
EXAMPLE:
Spoiler Alert!
When I submit, one half of my army team is Alistair MacDirk and three squads of Macdirk Warriors (for 350 points, 13 spaces). The other half of my army team (which cannot be more than 300 points) cannot contain either Alistair or the MacDirk Warriors. I choose three squads of Phantom Knights and Heirloom for the second half of that 650 point, 28 space maximum army team. My teammate will submit a second army team, but neither of the armies in his army team may contain any of the cards I used (MacDirk Warriors, Alistair MacDirk, Heirloom, Phantom Knights).
Each team will have two army sets, which will be chosen from each round in the "bring two" style (details below). When signing up as a team, your two army sets may not share any army cards.
"Bring 2" details:
Spoiler Alert!
Before each game, there will be a roll-off, done by the tournament organizers. The winning team of the dice-off chooses first army set choice or second army set choice.
Whichever team has first army set choice may choose any of the four army sets (either of their two army sets or either of their opponent's two army sets). The other team may then choose from any of the other three army sets.
The team who lost the roll-off decides which team will place their armies first. Whichever team places first has the choice of either startzone. A team places both of its armies at the same time, and shares the same startzone.
The players in a team must declare which one of them will use which army from their chosen set before the game begins.
Initiative details:
Spoiler Alert!
Each round, all four players roll initiative. The player with the highest result goes first each turn. That player's teammate automatically goes third each turn. The player on the other team with the higher initiative goes second each turn, and that player's teammate goes fourth.

Scheduling
Once a round is announced, you will have one week to complete your game. Please attempt to schedule a time to play your game with your opponent.
If after 72 hours (3 days) you have not been able to reach your opponent via PM, please fill out the missing opponent report to notify the organizers of the situation.
If you cannot come to an agreement with your opponent on a time to schedule the game during that week, then please fill out the scheduling conflict report.
If a game is not completed on time and the tournament organizers are not notified of an issue, both players will be given a loss.
The tournament organizers reserve the right to manually set the pairings involving players with a history of either failing to schedule their games, or not showing up for scheduled game times. Such players will also not be given the benefit of the doubt should scheduling conflicts arise.
Reporting Game Results (and dropping out)
The winner of the game must use the game result form to report results. (This will be linked once the tournament begins.)
If you do not want to continue in the tournament into the next round, please PM an organizer to let them know.
Etiquette for watching games
Only the tournament referees (awesomeunleashed, Bengi, dok, Filthy, Kinseth, Typhon, Xorlof) are authorized to make binding rulings. If no referee is present in a game, ask before offering your opinion.
Refer to this thread for the etiquette rules of the Online Heroscape tournaments.
Disputes
The tournament referees are awesomeunleashed, Bengi, dok, Filthy the Clown, Kinseth, Typhon2222, and Xorlof. These players may make rulings on in-game disputes (line of sight, figures fitting on a space, dice rolled too soon/too late, etc) in games where they are not playing. If there is a dispute and one of these players is online, they may issue an on-the-spot ruling. If you have a dispute you cannot resolve, and none of the referees are present, you may stop the game and PM the tournament referees for a ruling.
NOTE: if a ruling is made late in the week and there is not enough time to schedule completion of the game, the tournament referees may issue a forfeit loss to the player who was ruled against.
