Re: Map Building Contest: The Wilds of Valhalla
I made a map two weeks ago but have been trying to find time to playtest and refine it. It is pretty good.

Re: Map Building Contest: The Wilds of Valhalla
I dont think I'm going to make it home in time for this. I'm currently at school and here I only have a mac, therefore no virtualscape. I don't think im gonna be home for another two weeks.
I have several maps done and ready to post, but I wanted to make a fresh one for this. I had something involving lava/jungle in mind. Oh well. Damn, I really wanted to participate. I'll catch the next one of these. |

Download Virtualscape onto a flash drive ( I did this) and then you have it anywhere you go. Load the application from inside your flash drive while on a PC at the library or something and then save the .hsc file on your flash when you're done or as you work on it. This is a very easy and manageable way to do it. If no library, ask a friend to use their computer. Either way...you can download the virtualscape file to a USB regardless of what system you have. Can you tell I really want you to participate? Sir Heroscape's Content

Re: Map Building Contest: The Wilds of Valhalla
Legends of mighty battles still whisper off the broken battlements, the dust of fallen warriors can be felt underfoot on the dreary cobblestones, and the ghosts of heroes can be glimpsed in the murky waters . . . nestled among the Dark Lakes of Nastraland lies the strategic Wolf Swamp Road. One branch of this road is particularly untamed - the Savage Corridor. As the wild nature of Valhalla reclaims the road, the wildest nature of beast, man, and kyrie surfaces in every skirmish on the Savage Corridor.
We've played a few games on this map. We have found it can handle different strategies with various army builds. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Nomad. |

We definitely played on almost every part of the map. However, most of the game was closer to Sir Heroscape's start zone than mine... I know I only have gotten one game on this map, but I already feel like it has great tournament potential! Thanks for the submission, @Nomad . |

Re: Map Building Contest: The Wilds of Valhalla
Alright, here is my second submission.
I tinkered with the map and it became something I had not planned while making it. Two start zones ? Yeah why not... Wait 5 levels and almost no tiles on the first ?! This map grew into something really different from what I generally do. I thought about it and feel like all the elevations doesn't help ranged figures too much, but flying ones might have an easy time here. I guess this can be balanced with the map pool (something flat like Capsocrates' Halcyon fore example would balance it out). Please accept the nomination of Infected Pass.
Spoiler Alert!

Re: Map Building Contest: The Wilds of Valhalla
Here is my entree.
Mountain Pass VS File: http://www.mediafire.com/file/de9oq1...ntain_Pass.hsc PDF: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5ih98b...ntain_Pass.pdf Bio: Few year round paths exist through the mountains with most spring time passes becoming obstructed by heavy snow and ice in the winter. Those few passes that do remain open year round are heavily traveled by merchants in the times of peace, and heavily contested by armies in the time of war. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Didn't start with any real ideas or direction other than the desire to make a map with lots of natural LOS/movement blockers as I feel that would accurately reflect the 'wild' vs. the flat unobstructed farmlands and pastures of civilizations. Initially thought about trying to do something with the jungle plants and trees but ended up going in a different direction. So I limited my available sets to TT, BftU, & RttFF to get 3 different sets of LOS/movement blockers to work with, then started putting down tiles to see what would emerge. Pretty happy with the result.
Spoiler Alert!
