Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
Isn't that the yellow lantern marker? Why are we using that?

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
They’re aesthetically different if you look at each. This one is accurate to the design on his chest when he wears the armor.

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
Yep, that's the design from the chest of the mini for sure.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
In every other story he has a Superman S on the armor in the other stories where he wears it, so we could switch the marker over to that. But it would feel weird to me to use that symbol when the mini we’re using is the Sinestro Corps version.
What if the yellow outline on the marker was made blue? That would give it a lot of distinction from the regular YPB while still matching the mini. |

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
So it's my understanding that Superboy-Prime is a Kal-El from an alternate Earth of our main Superman (Kal-El) who's primarily known for stories taking place on the main DCU Earth (where our main Superman lives), including two or three notable ones in which he fights alongside our main Superman.
Therefore he seems like a good candidate for the Crossover Marker. I would like to submit him for approval for this marker. @japes @tcglkn @Yodaking @Lord Pyre @Soundwarp SG-1 @johnny139 @Arch-vile C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
I am operating on third party information as to the exact team ups, so I don't mind holding to get actual examples from comic book authorities. All I can find in Wikipedia summaries is that he definitely teamed up with Kal-L and fought Kal-El.
I do think it's justified based on the idea that he shares an identity with Superman (Kal-El) and that his stories are primarily in the same universe as that Kal-El, meaning at worst this would be a Batman/Joker type team up situation (they're very clearly different people). C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
OK, further research shows they were at the very least clearly on the same side in the battle against Anti-Monitor in Crisis on Infinite Earths. I thought there was later, post-Crisis team up as well, but I don't know the specifics there.

Re: The Book of Superboy-Prime
Superboy-Prime was created for CoIE, where he teamed up with Kal-El, Kal-L, and the rest of the universe to fight Anti-Monitor. At the end of the story, he goes into the pocket universe with Kal-L, Alex Luthor, and Kal-L’s Lois.
Being in there makes him go pretty crazy, and Alex manipulates him into breaking back out of the pocket universe. Alex sells both him and Kal-L on the idea that the modern DC unicerse is “corrupt” and needs to be fixed or replaced. Kal-L realizes that’s wrong pretty quickly and helps the main heroes fight Alex and Prime, but dies in the process. (Infinite Crisis) I think the symbol is super-justified here, cause he’s just not the same character as Superman (Kal-El). From his first appearance, he’s conceptualized as someone who interacts with the main universe counterpart. Post-IC, he has wildly different goals and desires as well (he’s crazy!), and that brings him into conflict a few times with his main universe counterpart. To me personally, it’s not about “have these 2 dudes teamed up before.” It’s “Are these 2 dudes justifiably separate characters” and Prime is one of the posterchildren for being a different character than other dudes that share his name. I know not everybody agrees there though. |
