- What should be the unit's point value? 100 was fine here, I think, despite the fact that their team did pretty well...
- Give a brief overview. I find that Wonder Woman is kind of a swingy figure... she's either so kick @ss that she dominates... or she can't engage first and is not really that useful. So I like that the Amazons give her some more options, without making her too powerful when she's good.

Units: Amazon Warriors x3, Wonder Woman (600) vs. Ronan, Kree Scouts x6 (600)

Spoiler Alert!

Round 1: Initiative Kree.
Two Kree Scouts move out in flanking maneuvers. Wonder Woman soars out, ropes up a Kree, and crushes him; her fellow Amazons charge forward. Ronan and another Kree warp in, Ronan charges Wonder Woman and hits her for 2 wounds with the Universal Weapon. WW ropes up Ronan and hits him for 4 wounds. A Kree picks off an Amazon, and Ronan punches another wound into WW with his normal attack. The Amazons charge forward and kill a Kree, spurring themselves forward.

Round 2: Initiative Amazons.
5 Amazons hurl spears at Ronan, but their aim is poor and he has height advantage and takes no damage. Ronan is warped away from WW, and another Kree warped in, by a Kree on the outskirts; the 2 Kree scouts open fire on the Amazons, but their stout defense protects them. Wonder Woman ropes Ronan in for the killing blow, and her sisters charge forward. The Kree warp back to their start zone, but are unable to pick off any Amazons from range. The Amazons move in and pick off a Kree, sending their number forward. The Kree pick off another Amazon.
　
Round 3: Initiative Kree.
The Kree warp to height and pick off another Amazon. The Amazons engage the Kree but are unable to break their defense. The Kree take out another Amazon. The Amazons kill a Kree, and more Warriors move up. The Kree take out another Amazon. The Amazons take out the last of the Kree.

Summary: Wonder Woman with 3 wounds, 4 Amazons remain.

- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes
- What should be the unit's point value? 100. Their Spear Volley can be deadly, but if it's not, it's kind of a waste of an OM on a multi-attack squad.
- Give a brief overview. Despite being engaged in their startzone, the Amazons had trouble getting their Volley to be too effective, and without the ability to move, they relied almost solely on their high defense... and it kept them in the game for quite a while.

Units: Amazons x3, Wonder Woman, Parademon Shock Troopers x2, Hush (980) vs. Superman, Supergirl, Flash (970)

Round 1: Initiative Kryptonians.
Supergirl races out. Parademons begin to form a defensive line. Kara fires her Heat Vision at Wonder Woman, but despite a 2 skull initial roll, is unable to break the Amazon's defense. Parademons move up and put a wound on Kara with their Weaponry. Kara attacks a Parademon unsuccessfully. A huge volley of spears is hurled at Kara, but fortunately for her they are not very accurate and she escapes without a wound.

Round 2: Initiative Amazons.
8 Amazons hurl spears at Kara... and manage only a single wound. Kara kills an Amazon. Wonder Woman ropes up Kara... but still is unable to break her defense. Flash uses his superspeed to enter the battlezone. The Amazons wound Kara 3 times with a Spear Volley. Flash takes out a single Amazon with a his fists.

Round 3: Initiative Kryptonians.
Flash takes out another Amazon. The Amazons finish off Kara. The Amazon's hardy defense allows them to escape the Flash's Fist Fussilade. The Parademons attempt to hit Flash with their weaponry, but are unsuccessful. Flash takes out another Amazon. The Parademons attempt to put Flas down again, but fail.

Round 4: Initiative Amazons.
Parademons fail to harm Flash again. Flash takes out another Amazon. Parademons manage a wound on Flash (for the record, Flash is stuck, as he can't move away from Wonder Woman for fear of allowing her to kill him. Flash takes out 2 Parademons. Parademons put another wound on Flash.

Round 5: Initiative Kryptonians.
Flash takes out the last 2 Parademons. Wonder Woman breaks from Flash and makes a run for Supes. Flash gives chase, staying on her tail. Frustrated, WW swings at him... and catches him on the chin for a 1-wound hit. Flash attacks back but can't hit her. Wonder Woman catches him again for a killing blow.

Round 5: Initiative Kryptonians.
Superman catches Wonder Woman with a 3 wound hit. Wonder Woman breaks away (taking a wound) to lure him back toward her sisters. Supes catches and kills her. The Amazons hurl spears at the Kryptonian, but roll poorly. Supes hits Hush for 3 wounds. The Amazons' spears glance off Supes' chest yet again.

Round 6: Initiative Kryptonians.
Supermanputs another wound on Hush. Amazons put a wound on Supes. Supes fails to kill Hush. Amazonss fail to harm Supes further. Supes kills Hush. Amazons fail to harm Supes.

Rounds 6 on: Amazons are unable to punch Supes' defense again and fall one by one.

Summary: Superman with 6 life remains.

Great test as usual from Margloth.

Seems like with him playing it wrong with them being able to use the special attack with them engaged, the games went good an bad for them. Though they did go against some tough defense vs. Supes' team despite bypassing Kryptonian defense. And those huge Spear attacks vs squaddies or common heroes are overkill, so normal attacks would be better in those cases.

Since you playtested these girls Sir G, how much different do you think being engaged would make for their special attack?

It could make a difference in that if they got to move with Battle Cry, they wouldn't hesitate to engage a potential victim because they would still be able to use the special. But then again, I don't know how hard it was to pull it off for unengaged only. Obviously for the the power to work best you will need like 3 squads of them to account for attrition and allow for getting the most opportunity for maxing out # of Amazons being able to use the special attack. It's great when there are a lot of them, but the value of the attack goes down as the # of Amazons diminishes. They'll hope for WW to Lasso a prime target then they can move in and Spear them, but then again you have to have enough Amazons in the vicinity to make that a big enough threat.

On the nose with the 3+ squads, Hahma. Any fewer in an army, and it's too difficult to pull off a meaningful SA with them all unengaged.

There were probably about a half dozen or so instances in the tests where an additional die in the SA from an AW engaged with the defending figure could have had an effect.

If we went that direction, it would just remove one word:

SPEAR VOLLEY SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 4. Attack Special.
To attack with this special attack, choose a figure for a combined attack by as many Amazon Warriors that can attack the chosen figure, even Amazon Warriors that did not move this turn. Roll 1 attack die for each unengaged Amazon Warrior you control that can attack the chosen figure. The defending figure compares height to the lowest attacking Amazon Warrior to determine any height advantage.

Well I don't think I'd have a problem with the change. Though it will help to see how the other test comes in at.

There will be a commitment of 300 points to field enough of these gals to make them really dangerous with that attack, and another 300 for WW to maximize them even more. So while single attacking opponents will have more problems with them, bonding units/squads should be could counters to them.
