Re: The Book of Six-Gun Gorilla (VOTE FOR PUBLIC PLAYTESTING
This passes to public play testing, if someone could add him to the op in the playtesting sign up thread, that’d be great!

Re: The Book of Six-Gun Gorilla (PUBLIC PLAYTESTING)
I'm going to run one game with the GCW in tow, but I was thinking I'd run the second game without them to see how he feels on his own. What are the top fire based attacks I could pair him up, with where he serves at the focal point of a fireball AoE attack or something?

Re: The Book of Six-Gun Gorilla (PUBLIC PLAYTESTING)
I checked the spells but it turns out magical fire can't be resisted, same for Etrigan's Hellfire Fireball SA. Pyro's SA is the only I can find that the Poncho would impact, but that's not an AOE attack. So I can put him in the opponents army, but he isn't a good ally. Anyone think of someone I'm missing, either with or against?

Lava Resistant Interactions
I'd try running him with Captain Britain before leaning too hard into the poncho. |

Re: The Book of Six-Gun Gorilla (PUBLIC PLAYTESTING)
Yeah, I was just coming to update that I was going to test the Protector synergy with Capt. Britain instead of trying to utilize the Poncho. Pretty excited about him being a potential Excalibur recruit!

Re: The Book of Six-Gun Gorilla (PUBLIC PLAYTESTING)
Should his SI be O'Neil? That's apparently his name in the story that Johnny posted (Of which I read about 3 paragraphs, and the very end )

Re: The Book of Six-Gun Gorilla (PUBLIC PLAYTESTING)
Spoiler Alert!
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (Six-Gun Gorilla) Army Test 1 - Give a brief preview. 87Kraven convinces Megatron that his Decipticons could rule over Gorilla City and the humans wouldn’t bother them, so Megatron launches an assault with Kraven as their guide. The Gorillas aren’t just going to roll over for the robots though and assemble a team to defend their lands. As Kraven predicted, no humans would come to their aid, but they found a Racoon that’s always eager for a fight. Solovar is Kraven’s Prey. Map: Tacilla Jungle Units: Six-Gun Gorilla@230, GCWx3, Gorilla-Man, Solovar, Rocket Racoon I (1200) vs. Megatron, Soundwave, Ravage, Laserbeak, Kraven (1200)
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: Rocket did nothing in this game but soak up a few attacks from Ravage, and Solovar only contributed his inspiration (which was pretty significant having that extra move and def. die for the GCW), and it ended up being a pretty big win for the apes. Thought the Decipticons had a good chance mid-game, but they just couldn’t take down the GCW quickly enough. Too many single att. turns for them. Every time Megatron used his Hand Cannon for two att. of 6 & 4, he only managed to get one kill. Soundwave and his tapes didn’t get many turns in together before the tapes were defeated either, the Apes just moved across the board too quickly and threw too many att. dice for their def. to hold up. Six-Gun for his part did a good job dishing out wounds via his SA, while the Decipticons were busy trying to take out the GCW. He also liked being inspired by Solovar and getting the extra def. - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes, no issues I could find here. - What should be the unit's point value? Hard to say. At first glance he’s just a stat box with a SA, as two of his powers aren’t super significant, but in action he proves to be a really good ranged component to an already strong melee common squad army. Admittedly I believe I rolled at least 1 skull on every use of his SA (maybe one miss?), and rolled 2 skulls on I think 3 of the 8 att., so he was pretty consistent. Also I should have ran an army that had more multiple att. options to deal with the squad scape going on here. Hindsight is 20/20, I’d suggest a few more Simian Army tests where they are facing an army that is better at dealing with squads. _____________________________________________________________ Army Test 2 - Give a brief preview. After monkeying around in the first game, wanted to see how he felt away from the all Simian army build option so I’m testing out his Protector synergy web. Oddly enough, Gorilla Grodd also fits into the Capt. Britain army as a Telepath so I guess I’m not completely done monkeying around. Map: Tacilla Sunrise Units: Six-Gun Gorilla@230, Capt. Britain, Colossus, Gorilla Grodd (1000) vs. Magneto II, Mystique I, Juggernaut, Pyro (1000)
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: Not a great showing for the Outcast here, Magneto rolled low early and often with his d20, the odds might have balanced out some by the end of the game but it put his team in an early hole. Juggs had terrible luck with his SA, and also whiffed on his first def. roll of the game for a quick 3Ws. Overall the 7 def. dice for Juggs & Magneto didn’t fare well here vs. the barrage of 6-7 att. dice, skulls were more consistent for the Gorilla Excalibur team. Capt. Britain for his part never lost any confidence, although he also whiffed on def. to take a quick 2Ws. Overall a fun match, interesting to see I ended up using Six-Gun’s normal att. more in this one than his SA, whereas the opposite occurred in the first game. - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes, fun unit! - What should be the unit's point value? Even with the luck/tactics on his army’s side in both games, after two fairly solid wins I wouldn’t be surprised if additional testing didn’t show he is worth more than 230. He did score W’s with all 3 of his turns in which he rolled att. dice here, and consistent damage output like that is worth something. |
