XTINCTION AGENDA




The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Web of Spider-Man set.
Its model number and name are #27 / X-23.

Character Bio - After the Weapon X Program's failure with Wolverine it would be a generation before they attempted genetic manipulation with mutants again. Using the genetic material salvaged from Wolverine during the program's first attempt they ventured to create a clone of the mutant - but his DNA proved too complex.
A unique solution was devised - remove the Y chromosome and create a female twin using two X chromosomes. The experiment was successful and the geneticist who discovered the solution carried the pregnancy of the resultant girl to term - dubbed X-23.

The girl was trained as a weapon and her trainers were discouraged from treating her as human. Her genetic potential was accelerated to ensure her mutation would develop before puberty allowing for the grafting of Adamantium to her claws and skeleton.

Assigned missions of assassination her skills were sold to the highest bidder, with the promise of creating subsequent assassins to be bid at auction.

-Rulings and Clarifications-
  • Q: If more than 1 figure is adjacent to X-23, and she rolls a 5 against the first figure, does she still roll for the other figures after finishing her barrage against the first figure.
  • A: Yes, you roll the 20-sided die for each adjacent figure, one by one. Each time you roll a 1-5, you then attack that figure and continue attacking the same figure as long as she inflicts a wound. Once that is completed, you then proceed to the next adjacent figure (if any remain) and roll the 20-sided die to determine if any other figures are attacked.
  • Q: If she hits a 1-5 against any adjacent figure, her turn is finished when she is done against all adjacent figures, right?
  • A: Correct. If she rolls the 20-sided die against all adjacent figures and all rolls are 6 or greater, she can proceed with her turn normally. However, if any of the 20-sided die rolls are 1-5 and trigger the Frenzy attacks, you complete the Frenzy attack process and continue rolling the 20-sided die until you've rolled for all adjacent figures. After this process is completed, X-23 then forfeits her normal movement and attack phases, and her turn is over.
  • Q: Which occurs first, rolling for Lava Field Damage at the end of the round, or Healing Factor X at the end of the round?
  • A: Lava Field Damage is treated like a special power from another player. Roll the 20-sided die for Healing Factor X and Lava Field Damage (and any other players' powers that occur at the end of the round) to see which comes first.

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 5

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 4

POINTS = 220

SCENT TRIGGERED FRENZY
Before taking a turn with X-23, you must roll the 20-sided die, one at a time, for each figure adjacent to X-23. If you roll 1-5, instead of moving or attacking normally this turn, X-23 must attack the affected figure. If X-23 inflicts one or more wounds during this attack, she must continue attacking the defending figure until she does not inflict any wounds or the defending figure is destroyed.

PHANTOM WALK
X-23 can move through all figures and is never attacked when leaving an engagement.

ADAMANTIUM CLAWS
Figures subtract 2 from their defense dice when attacked by X-23 with an adjacent normal attack.

HEALING FACTOR X
After taking a turn with X-23, remove one Wound Marker from this card. At the end of the round, you may reveal an "X" Order Marker on this card to remove one Wound Marker from each Army Card you control with the Healing Factor X special power.

Cool, but I think the timing on Trigger Scent might get confusing. I wonder if we might want to just go auto wound on a roll of 1-7 rather than having an attack phase in there?

Also, is Clone more thematic than Mutant? Just wondering at the reasoning on that choice, since it'll be a big difference in gameplay due to all the Mutant synergies!

We could make when taking a turn with her before moving. I'm getting sick of auto-wounds.

I don't really know her but every source I read about her states she is a clone of Wolverine just with the Y- chromosome removed.

I think the odds for trigger scent are too high. It is a specially designed scent, not something that regularly occurs in nature. I agree with A3N that she should flat out attack. What if her enemies rolled a 20-sided before she moves and it triggered an uncapped Beserker Rage off of Wolvie's card?

Both Clone and Mutant would work here. She's a Clone, but of a Mutant; she's a loner but she has worked with X-Organizations before. Up to the LD.

Anyone else think four powers might be too much here?

They both work thematically, it seems, but it almost seems to be punishing her in the metagame by making her a clone instead of a mutant. I guess I'm just not sure if we want her missing out on all the mutant synergies when she seems to very much exist in the mutant universe and work with them all the time. But I'm happy to back the LD either way, I just wanted to voice that first.

Four powers does seem a bit hefty, but what do we drop? Phantom Walk?

As for 4 powers, well I think Phantom Walk is just like Flying. We have flying on cards & give them 3 other powers without a second thought. Also Phantom Walk & Adamantium Claws are only 1 liners so they aren't adding too much to the overall text on the card.

Fwiw, with three of the powers being reused and the fourth not being too complex, I'm not adamantly against four powers here. And if we're just going to combine two into one, I'd prefer to just stick with four and keep the clear theme of the Adamantium claws on the card, for instance.
