Small editorial thing here but shouldn't Double Attack be the first power listed?

Typically powers that happen on your turn are listed before defensive powers, so I'd say yes.

That said, there's some precedent for commonly known powers to be placed last.

Ultimately, I'll cede to C3G Style Master SirG either way.

I don't really care. I wouldn't say her name is as iconic as Elektra or Thor that their first name is that important, it's just her name. Plus she's named after Tomoe Gozen, a famous samurai, so it might be more appropriate to spell it out for that sake alone.

Basically, the comics never show any importance to her first name. We could do it, I don't really care either way, so if anyone has strong feelings, go ahead.

Nope, she's just a member of her clan. The clan gets hired by the Yakuza, and she leads them. She wasn't even the leader to begin with, she was arrogant and killed the main leader, pissing everyone off, so there's not much "weight" to her name.

Plus that's her civilian name as well, she doesn't change it. People who know her know what she does.

If she is attacked by an adjacent figure, does she even get additional dice, since she is already engaged with the attacking figure?

There's also nothing in the power that says she is required to move toward the attacking figure. Is it the intent that she be able to move away from the attacking figure and engage a different figure. And since she doesn't take LEAs when moving with Fan Dance, she could get lucky and shield-roll her way into the opponent's Start Zone.

The moving happens first. It's clearly listed first as an instruction in the text, so I don't see any other way to interpret that.

I agree that if she moves into engagement with an extra move, that'd stop her from rolling any additional defense dice at that point. I also believe that's the intent, so that's good.

Yes. Being adjacent to the attacking figure doesn't trigger the stoppage of dice, moving adjacent to the figure does.

So if the first move is to leave the engagement, dice can continue to pile on. However, if the first move is to another adjacent space (or a move of 0), then that would trigger a stoppage.

Still liking the 160 here! Ronin's test:

Don't have too much in the way of Tomoe commentary. Fan Dance is a really cool power, loving the theme there. She seems handy thrown into the middle of a bunch of figures, or as a cheap way to hassle squads, though I didn't end up testing her in any squad-busting capacity. I first thought she might benefit from upping her defense to 4, but after thinking it over, she's probably fine as-is.

- Give a brief overview. Tomoe squares off against Deadpool in an Assassin vs Mercenary showdown. She doesn't get to use many of her powers, but she does respectably fighting out of her weight class.
Map: Sacred Shrine (no glyphs)
Units: Tomoe Gozan, Man-Bat Assassins, Hand Ninja x2, Lady Shiva, Huntress, Bullseye (1000) vs Cable, Deadpool, Deathstroke, Diamondback (1000)

Spoiler Alert!

Lady Shiva makes Huntress into an Assassin. The first round is largely mobilization, with the Mercenaries advancing Cable and Diamondback while the Assassins use the Hand Ninja's bonding to mobilize the Man-Bat Assassins, Tomoe, and Bullseye. At the tail end of the round, Cable takes a couple of failed potshots at the Man-Bats (Men-Bats?), and the Hand Ninja put a couple wounds on Diamondback.

In the second round, the Hand Ninja start dropping like the cannon fodder they are; Cable wipes out four of them, Deathstroke takes down another, and the last one is victim to Calculated Defense. However, their smokescreen gives the Man-Bat Assassins the chance to tie up Cable, one of which manages to put four wounds on Cable with a lucky roll. The Hand Ninja also take down Diamondback.

The third round goes poorly for the Mercenaries, with the Man-Bat Assassins and Bullseye taking down Cable and Deathstroke both. Only one Man-Bat is destroyed, by Calculated Defense. This leaves most of the Assassin army up against Deadpool.

The next scrap is Deadpool vs Tomoe and the Man-Bats. Deadpool just barely manages to ward off Tomoe while he finishes off the Man-Bats. Tomoe brings Deadpool down to 1 Life remaining, but she fails to finish the job, and Deadpool launches a counter-attack. Tomoe isn't so lucky on her defense rolls, coming up with only one shield against three attacks. Bullseye, desperate to hit Deadpool before he completely heals, takes a risk and rushes in to fire at Deadpool from a height disadvantage.

The dice don't go his way, and Deadpool steamrolls the guy, buying enough time to go up against Lady Shiva and Huntress fully healed. Deadpool vs the remaining pair of Assassins is a close fight. The Assassins manage to engage Deadpool and eke out a victory.

- Give a brief overview. Tomoe's team takes a narrow loss, but Tomoe performs well. She's able to function very well in a mid-range scrap, thanks to her out-of-turn movement and Engagement Strike.

Units: Aaron Cash, Bane, Tomoe Gozan, Captain America, John Stewart (995) vs Punisher, Robin (Dick), Luke Cage, Scarlet Spider (Ben), Spider-Man (Miles), Kick-Ass, Echo (1000)

Spoiler Alert!

Captain America and Green Lantern (using Basket Carry to grab the rest of the gang) immediately drive toward the Punisher, hoping to kill him early. Unfortunately, Luke Cage and the Crime Fighters (some credit to Robin, also) manage to intercept and prevent Team 1 from getting too close to him.

The Crime-Fighter/Vigilante team takes down Aaron Cash first, to avoid the hassle of only dealing one wound a turn. Meanwhile, Tomoe deals three wounds to Miles. Punisher starts chipping away at Bane's health (this is a lengthy process, since John Stewart sacrifices a couple markers to shield Bane from the worst of the attacks).

Captain America finishes off Miles. Kick-Ass engages Tomoe in order to get an attack bonus for the rest of the team (especially Punisher). Tomoe hits him with engagement strike when he moves in. He follows with an attack of three. Tomoe rolls two shields, then gets another and disengages with Fan Dance. One wound dealt to Kick-Ass, Kick-Ass' Inspiration averted, and an attack blocked with Fan Dance in one turn. Not too shabby. At the end of the round, Punisher takes down Bane and Green Lantern destroys Kick-Ass.

Tomoe, still at full health, is sniped by Punisher, rolling no shields to his four skulls. She was doing so well until she died. I'd say she was still worth it in this army, as she did the majority of damage to Miles and also thwarted Kick-Ass' plans. Solid showing.

This one looked like it would be a rout for the Crime Fighters, but Punisher and Luke Cage started rolling no shields at all on defense (ditto for Robin, who went down in one hit), allowing Cap to take out the both of them (and Echo, who did nothing prior to being on the losing end of a skirmish with Cap) before being killed by Scarlet Spider. Thus leaving the entire match to Scarlet Spider with 3 wounds versus John Stewart with no wounds, or Green Battery markers. John still might have been able to pull out the win if not for Ben's webbing keeping him immobile.
