I'm assuming the wounds would simply be ignored. For example, Invulnerable: Whenever Molly Hayes would be destroyed, she instead receives one wound.

So, she has 2 Life left and takes 5 Wounds. Instead of taking those wounds, she receives a single Wound Marker. That's how I've always played it at least.

That would make the T-Rex (2 lives) form much more of a steal and might make him too powerful at times with his Healing Factor, but I'm willing to test it that way if that's what you guys prefer.

Units: Beast Boy (60), Pteradactyl (40) (100) vs. Weather Wizard (100)
Hot and nasty rolls and the double attack of his lightning special helped Weather Wizard bring down the rain pain on Beast Boy and his dino form. Beast Boy used the Pterodactyl early to fly and have stronger stats, but Weather Wizard quickly forced Beast Boy to transform with a lightning strike and 2 auto wounds for Beast Boy, then followed by putting 2 more wounds on Beast Boy with more lightning. Beast Boy responded with a weak attack that Weather Wizard blocked, and healed a wound from himself, but Weather Wizard only needed one more attack to finish Beast Boy off. The dice didn’t help, but this was a bit of a slaughter!
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Weather Wizard with Full Life wins Turn 3, Round 1.

TEST 2
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), Pteradactyl (40) (100) vs. Robin (Dick) (100)
Acrobatic Maneuverability made Robin hard to hit, but Healing Factor made Beast Boy hard to kill. Three times Beast Boy transformed into a Pteradactyl to try to fly or hit Robin harder. Robin took down the Pteradactyl three times, giving Beast Boy two auto wounds each time. Each time, Beast Boy took some time in his Metahuman form then to heal up before transforming again. Beast Boy healed 7 wounds in all. Beast Boy felt a tad overmatched in this test, but I really like how he played, so it’s not a problem if his cost drops a tad.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Robin with 2 wounds wins Turn 2, Round 4.

TEST 3
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), Pteradactyl (40) (100) vs. Dazzler (100)
Beast Boy put on three of Dazzler’s four wounds in Pteradactyl form due to better attacks, but had to risk being unable to heal often as a result, which made this dicey! Dazzler’s dazzle markers can be really rough one-on-one, but Beast Transformation at least let Beast Boy work around that at times. The Pteradactyl form was destroyed twice, and Beast Boy healed 4 wounds in all here.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Beast Boy with 4 wounds wins Turn 1, Round 4.

TEST 4
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), Cheetah (20), Grizzly Bear (20) (100) vs. Weather Wizard (100)
Beast Boy uses Cheetah early to move forward on the map, but Weather Wizard tears him and BB’s Metahuman form up for 4 quick wounds. Desperate, Beast Boy tries a Hail Mary in his Bear form, but only hits one skull and can’t get in a wound.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Weather Wizard with Full Life wins Turn 3, Round 1.

TEST 5
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), Cheetah (20), Grizzly Bear (20) (100) vs. vs. Robin (Dick) (100)
Beast Boy used his Cheetah form to move up first, but Robin took that down to put 2 auto wounds on Beast Boy. Rather than staying in Metahuman form to heal, Beast Boy switched to Bear form and snuck in a quick wound. Robin blocked his next attack while the Bear form used a beefier defense to block Robin’s attacks, then the Bear form hit all skulls and finished Robin off with a mauling.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Beast Boy with 2 wounds wins Turn 1, Round 2.

TEST 6
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), Cheetah (20), Grizzly Bear (20) (100) vs. Dazzler (100)
Beast Boy got plenty of use out of all three forms and healed 3 wounds while frustrating Dazzler here. Right now 60 is feeling solid.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Beast Boy with 2 wounds wins Turn 2, Round 4.

TEST 7
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), T-Rex (60) (120) vs. Firefly (120)
Beast Boy failed a round one Dino-Bite roll and only had a chance to heal once, but he still had Firefly down to 1 life going into round 2 when he failed to win initiative and took his last two wounds. Close one!
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Firefly with 3 wounds wins Turn 1, Round 2.

TEST 8
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), T-Rex (60) (120) vs. Pyro (120)
Definitely a close one! Good rolls for Engulf helped Pyro keep T-Rex wounded (and T-Rex had no way to clear his first wound when transforming to metahuman form). T-Rex failed all three Dino-Bite rolls and Beast Boy stays in T-Rex form with 4 wounds on his card as a gamble that pays off when Pyro whiffs against a 1 skull attack to finish it.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Beast Boy with 4 wounds (and 1 wound on the T-Rex form) wins Turn 3, Round 2.

TEST 9
Map: Custom
Units: Beast Boy (60), T-Rex (60), Pteradactyl (40), Cheetah (20), Grizzly Bear (20) (200) vs. Batman (200)
Batman rolls poorly on Evasive Strikes and can’t quite finish off Beast Boy as he gambles to keep T-Rex on the battlefield for several turns, going 2 of 6 for Dino-Bite rolls. The Pteradactyl got some play early to fly Beast Boy into position. Grizzly Bear and Cheetah weren’t really used here.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Beast Boy with 4 wounds and T-Rex with 1 wound win Turn 1, Round 3.


TEST 10

Units: Beast Boy (60), T-Rex (60), Pteradactyl (40), Cheetah (20), Grizzly Bear (20) (200) vs. Batman (200)
Again only three forms are used – T-Rex (1 of 3 on Dino-Bite), Pteradactyl (for flight and defense early), and Metahman (healing 1 wound and failing on one attack)
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Batman with 2 wounds wins Turn 2, Round 2.

- Give a brief overview. The Hawkmen had a shot here, but it’s tough when you only have 1 of a common squad and that common squad only has 2 figures.

Beast Boy healed 3 wounds here. The Hawkmen had a chance until Beast Boy rolled 3 skulls in his Metahuman form and took the first Hawkman down. Without the multiple attacks per Order Marker, it was too tough a hill for the Hawkmen to climb.

Even with the Pteradactyl form carrying him to height and the T-Rex form chomping three Amazon Warriors, Beast Boy couldn’t quite win out. He gambled, with three Amazon Warriors left, not healing and instead staying in T-Rex form to Dino-Bite more Amazons. It almost paid off.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Amazon Warriors with 1 figure left win Turn 3, Round 2.

- Give a brief overview. A close, fun match! Beast Boy didn’t make too much of an impact early on, but he proved to be a fun closer.

Spoiler Alert!

Beast Boy healed 3 wounds here. Thanks to a Superman attack whiff, he managed to stick around long enough to sneak in the last two wounds on Superman in a very close match. Superman took 4 quick wounds from Wonder Girl, who had height, her lasso, and Amazon Empathy all in play for a 7 die attack where Superman subtracted one defense.
Early on, Beast Boy carried Cyborg to the middle of the map and those two along with Wonder Girl an Robin (both bonding with Aqualad) took on Batman until Batman finally whiffed on a 3 skull attack from Wonder Girl after softening up the troops significantly.
Superman swooped in next and took out both Cyborg (after Cyborg put the first wound on him) and Aqualad in Round 3. Then Wonder Girl pounded on him before going down herself.
This left Robin, who tied up Superman’s attacks, and Beast Boy. Robin finally whiffed after Superman was up to Beast Boy to get in those last two wounds, which he just barely did.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Beast Boy with 2 wounds wins Turn 1, Round 7.

- Give a brief overview. Just a bad time for Beast Boy. He really didn’t need to bring this many beast forms with him, and he probably needed to be more careful about advancing without Order Markers on him to heal.

Total slaughter here. Only Black Canary and T-Rex Beast Boy had effective squad counters and neither lasted long enough to get much mileage out of them. Beast Boy went Pteradactyl to fly Black Canary in and ended up falling before ever even taking a turn in T-Rex form (thanks in part to Grodd mind controlling Black Canary). Once both Beast Boy and Black Canary fell, the rest of the Titans were steadily dispatched. The dice also seemed to favor the villains here a tad.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Gorilla Grodd with 1 wound, Firefly with Full Life, Deathstroke with Full Life (never activated), and 2 Gorilla City Warriors win Turn 2, Round 6.

1. I'll fix the spelling on Mischievous. Not sure how I missed that!

2. You could draft multiple versions of the same beast form, I suppose, but there's no tangible gameplay benefit of doing so, since none of them are destroyed until this Beast Boy is destroyed, and having a new form does nothing but give you different powers and stats you can use (it doesn't add life or anything). So you'd just be paying extra for unusable redundancy.

3. Yup, you answered this one yourself. The only way to destroy any Beast Boy is by destroying this one (then the rest are auto destroyed) in order to show they're all the same guy (and that he's constantly healing). So anything that triggers on being destroyed wouldn't be triggered until this Beast Boy is destroyed.

4. Good point! I'll update with "in your army."

5. Hmm. I'm not sure on this one. Hopefully the guys can give some feedback! Does sound like an annoying situation, though. Maybe we can FAQ it that you only roll during the initial placement ....

2. The first part is based off the wording of Iron Man Mk V. I just realize that without the word different, I wonder if it would permit drafting multiple copies of the same form. I guess I should've asked that when I did the EPB on Iron Man Mk V. Then again, there may be a technical item that would prevent that.

3. If a Beast Form is destroyed by taking a wound and you swap it with another, could the original Form return? Example: Destroy Cheetah with 1 wound and replace with Bear. Bear is destroyed. Could Cheetah return? What about a destroyed figure placed on another figure's Army Card as with Ghost Rider?

I'm thinking you may actually have that covered in your wording: "would be destroyed, instead". So if Beast Boy Cheetah would receive a wound, it actually doesn't, because you're replacing that action with placing two wounds on this design's card. That means the other Beast Forms don't get destroyed until this one does. If this issue creates confusion and I my interpretation is correct, then you could simply FAQ it. Oh, and his form would likely escape Brainiac's collection.

4. Since you control refers to figures on the battlefield, the second instance might need to be replaced with "in your Army." Although I solved one issue when it pertained to Brainiac, I think my notice of this term may have created others. Lesson: I should keep my mouth shut.

5. One possible bizarre loop can take place: Beast Boy Cheetah is knocked into molten lava and fails the roll, destroying him. You'd keep replacing forms until you could get a safe roll of 20. Or would you have to roll for molten lava when this occurs?

Since Order Markers don't transfer, you'd have to plan your marker placement carefully.

Healing Factor

7. Nice, though his low defense puts him at risk of getting taken down before fully healing, which balances things nicely.

Final Thoughts

Love the concept, but these transformations can be tricky to analyze.

I believe that interpretation of the lava situation is correct - but since each time he'd take a wound, it's tricky, but it really just gives him a bunch of chances to survive.

Hmm, true. Actually, come to think of it, it wouldn't be that awful. Beast Boy's only got 5 lives. If he failed to hit survival rolls 3 times in a row, he'd be gone.
