As you can attest to.

The kids, and constant stuff around the house keep me settled. Heck, I've got to paint my sister's 2nd floor house addition that's being built now, as well as her first floor existing rooms as well pretty soon in my "spare time" when I'm not doing my regular job, so that keeps me settled. Seeing the work being done at my sister's house, my wife wants to finish the rest of the basement that I haven't finished yet. I already built a bedroom, office, bathroom, exercise room and storage area, now we're down to the 14' x 33' area that's going to be the family room/bar/gaming area. I've had the wiring done and can lights and sconce lights are mounted on the rough framing, but it needs to be drywalled/taped/painted/carpeted/trimmed out. That, and the wife wants the kitchen, living room and dining room to get laminate wood floors to replace the linoleum and carpet.

So yeah, the kids help settle me, but the wife makes sure I'm busy enough to be settled.

My advice to newlyweds (Bats), if you are handy in the construction field or landscape field (like I happen to be ), never let the wife know about that. Bury it and keep it hidden. Make sure to screw up projects she wants you to tackle, so that way she either forgets about it or hires someone else to break their back.

My problem is that my wife loves doing that kind of stuff - she's always building cabinets, new shelves, etc. It's nice that I don't have to do it, but at the same it never ends because she always comes up with something else to do.

Hmm....as tempting as that generous offer is A3n, and I'd really love to, but I think my dance-card is filled for the near future with "exciting and fun" projects.

Maybe next year I can convince my wife that we need to go on a vacation to Australia. Though she might get suspicious when I pack a suitcase with tools.

Maybe you can send her to Australia. A3n says he's got some projects that need done over there. She can build him some cabinets and shelves, whether he needs them or not.
