I've been thinking a good amount about this point. This was the event that I was closest to winning during the weekend (also one loss out of shifting alliances, General Wars, Main Event Day 2, and 3HH ). I was 3-1 in the event with my Ws at 6-0, 6-0, and 8-2, and the one loss to GB's Firestorm at 7-5. If I were to play that matchup again, I could see it going the other way as I was out to a 5-1 lead before round 3.

So I don't think that competitively Firestorm is an issue. And while 4 of the 13 armies had FEs in them (with no other squad showing up in more than 2), the top 4 armies were all different (Firestorm, Gruts, GSW+Nilf, and Glad/Blast). I think that's a decent variety, and I don't think a rules change is needed.

I think there are more subtle ways to lessen Firestorm. While I hadn't thought of FEs, maybe their dominance this past year shifts a build like Isamu, Nilfheim, Theracus, Greenscale Warriorsx3 to one like Marcu, Moltenclaw, Theracus, Greenscale Warriorsx3 (to take advantage of MC's lava resistance) or the map pool could have something like GameBear's Water Treatment Facility where water is more of a presence in key areas and is a threat to a pure FE army. I had a late round 3 ping of 1v4 on an FE that could have given me the win: on water that's a 50% killshot instead of 9.9%. The mixed elemental armies went 2-2, 2-2, and 1-3 which is definitely not overpowering.

ScapeCon II was an absolute blast, and somehow improved on ScapeCon I I'll highlight a few of the things:
- digital sign-in for the tourneys was sleek
- a lot of very cool formats. I absolutely LOVED Control Points (it's up there with Betrayal for me). I wish I could've played Classic Delta, so hoping it might be in a featured time slot for next year.
- great food yet again. I didn't realize the buffet was more $$ than the plated dinner, but to me the buffet is preferable to the plated dinner
- insane prize support. Obviously would be awsome to see the same next year, but also I think people would be understanding if it fluctuates each year. My point here is basically whatever you're able to coordinate or get will be awesome Mike, so I wouldn't put any undo pressure on yourself to out-do the prizing each year (though no one will complain if you're able to lol)
-the hang and hype at ScapeCon is awesome, and I think will continue to blossom each year

I don't really have any critiques, as I thought the important stuff was all handled super well. The only point I might make would dovetail off of the several comments I've seen about the A+ ban(s). I agree that this was a welcome change, but would also second the opinions voiced here about potentially mixing it up a bit. A good twist for A+ ban could be what I believe the Michigan crew does sometimes, where you are allowed to take only one A+ unit. But all in all, I like that many of the tournaments banned them, as it helped speed up game play and let some other units hit the table.

Just dumping a list of suggestions/ideas I have that I don’t want to forget. Some have already been discussed but I’ll leave them here for posterity.

More swag like items on the prize table (Heroscape mugs/coasters/hats etc.)
Written procedure for GMs with time structure laid out. (When to call 15 mins, last round, last OMS)

Round timer visible for the whole room, clearly explain when last round and last OM will be called. (E.g Timer counting down from 55 mins, everyone knows last round will be called when it hits 8 mins, last OM on 2 mins) Slight concern this could lead to people stalling if they're up on points, but down in game state.

Specific ban list for MM. PKs. Yes they haven't won, but enough people bring them that games are not as interesting as they could be. Could also do like B+ and under

Replace B+ in 3HH with specific banlist that still takes out all the top armies, but allows you to play Greenscales with Othkurik, Macdirks with Alastair, etc..

VC events that are classic Gencon events. Monster Mash, General Wars,

I am very excited to be going next year to my first. I hope old school is still around, since I mentioned it first I think.
Prizes - I went to a small convention and they had Pens with the HS logo on it, and it said Heroscape --- this has always been one of my favorite swag prizes - cause it gets used all the time. Most stuff will not, but HS pens rock.

I loved the food. Give people a heads up to bring a bit of cash because we tipped our food guy well. And he was worth every penny.

Glyph of Wannok is way overused.

With increased attendance will there still be room to bring things to sell? Garanex and I did pretty well and people seemed happy to pick up some product.

Some type of sound system would be good. It doesn't have to be blasting, just enough to get everyone's attention and talk over the buzz.

I believe there was an equal distribution of the 5 glyphs that were used. You may have just hit a lot of maps with Wannok.

Have y'all considered adding C3V glyphs via glyphs of Brandar to add more diversity to the glyph pool?

I think this would be pretty confusing which Brandars on which maps are which alternate glyph.

That said, if physical copies of the C3V glyphs is the only issue, I would be willing to put some together and provide them to the ScapeCon committee @OEAO .

Thanks! There's only 1 VC glyph that we're currently considering, so I think Brandars should be fine if we decide to use it.

You would include a printout at each map that says what the glyph of Brandar is for that map.
