Re: The Book Of Battleship Map (Design Phase)
I'm quite intrigues by this map, it looks really interesting to play a game on.
Bats, big boats like that require a deep water port which are created by natural rock formations or poured concrete. Beaches are almost always shallow water areas which is why people go there to swim and relax. Sand does not provide a stable enough platform to form and then maintain the large/deep tubs of water required for the drafts of a big boat. |

Re: The Book Of Battleship Map (Design Phase)
Good explanation, YK. Works for me.
I really love this match. Itching for an Aquaman scenario, or a HYDRA scenario or something. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book Of Battleship Map (Design Phase)
I agree, this map looks ideal for a scenario of some sort. With one team starting out on the battleship and one team attacking from land. Maybe a Hyrda invasion force on the boat and some defenders of the city on the dock. Or a team of good guys (Aquaman/JLA or Namor/Avengers) escorting in a top secret item (equipment glyph?) with a group of criminals/super villains on the dock trying to steal it.

Re: The Book Of Battleship Map (Design Phase)
Besides the requirement problems, this looks like a great looking map to me. Screams scenario as suggested.

I fixed the ones way up top, I didn't even notice those up there earlier and agree they need to be brought down 1 level. For the ones on main ship deck, do you want half of them on level 2 and the other half on level 3 so that they all face outward? Or is their some special key you need to push in order to have two battlement pieces on the same hex location of the same level? |

Re: The Book Of Battleship Map (Design Phase)
Battlements are placed on the hex space next to the hex it is attached to & then rotated around to the correct position.

I like the scenario idea, possibly a Masters Of Evil (we do have Zemo) vs The Avengers *edit* I also can't figure out how to make the battlements fit the right way, they are kind of a pain to work with and I can't see how you can make them the right or the wrong way. |

Re: The Book Of Battleship Map (Design Phase)

The only way I have previously found to get around this problem is to place some of the battlements backwards, which requires me to put them 1 level too high as well. This is because the only way to back into the space is to place the battlement in the same hex location as the hex I want it attached too. I then put all the correct facing battlements one level too high as well just to keep them all on the same build instruction level. Smithy seems to have run into the same problem and came up with the same solution. This is an issue I have run into several times when making maps in the past and it is quite annoying. If their is a different work around to this problem I would love to know what it is. As mentioned above, I have all the battlements on this map facing the right way right now, with half of them on level 2 and half on level 3. Is that the preferred work around? |
