So this is mostly testing out Red Comet / the move boost more than Mysterious Motivations. Or at least the 'actively trying to murder your team' part of it anyway. Ms. Marvel likes getting a free move at the start of each round and two fast dudes to offset the cost of her bonding. With Oracle around you get a lot of initiative control and she lets Char take over for Ms. Marvel if the opponent takes her out. Amuro's OM save is a bit superfluous with Oracle around, but it's not actually strictly worse than hers (since he can trigger on vehicles) and having that back up does largely prevent anyone from bothering trying to assassinate her.

I'm pretty happy with how Char feels in the Zaku, lots of flow between the powers and he definitely makes it feel appropriately threatening.

I did actually try game 2 with Char and Amuro switching Mobile Suits. I think its viable, but definitely not better than keeping them in the right robots. There's something to be said for keeping Char safe in a more durable suit and letting Amuro boost the survivablity of the Zaku, but I think the best way (and thematic way) to keep Char safe is to play him as a tricky trick man by having him hang out and giving you incremental advantages while more threatening stuff draws fire.

So basically this is just a team that can keep relatively together and give you some extra stuff to do on Char's turn. The bonding bit of Mysterious Motivations didn't come up to often, but it did act as a bit of deterrent to attacking Shadowcat.

It was a fun army, but it puts a lot of eggs in Char's basket and he and the Zaku aren't exactly super durable. Especially when he wants to get into melee to really lay down damage. So kinda a feast or famine thing where it really depends on him being able to get in some damage while avoiding too much heat coming back at him.

Would be fun to explore again with one of the beefier Char suits.

OK so this is just a silly insane thing where Char and McGillis feed into each other's worst traits and just start murdering the rest of their team. The Superman sub-theme is cause Perry is a super cheap figure that weirdly works with them a bit since McGillis can trigger the quest for journalism moves and then also just eat him later.

It's fun, but nothing I'd be worried about. Even if we got an influx of 10 point Unique Heroes I don't think it would be anything super powerful.

Overall: I like were he's at, feels Charry. Points seem fine to me, he can do some cool stuff, but most of it requires some planning and luck to really get the most out of it.

Recap: Wonder Woman used her marker at the start of Round Two, and Johnny and Ben destroyed her then (She moved up a bit to potentially take advantage of Mysterious bonding). Damian, with WW’s boost, dealt some heavy damage from height. Reed and Sue both died around here. Next round, Char moved up Howard (who Torch was starting to move towards), prompting them to attack Damian instead. The last round, Char moved his Zaku, decided to attack Johnny instead of Ben (To kill Ben’s attack boost), but he ended up leaving Johnny with a single life of course. Ben destroys the Zaku easily then, which triggers Char’s bonding with Howard. Char kills Johnny himself with Red Comet, then those two manage to land a couple wounds, but it was over at that point.

Recap: Robot bonding with Char felt good, especially with Robot’s movement moving them both up at the beginning of the game after Char’s Motivations moved Robot up. The RX was pretty tough, dealing massive damage to Otto before he hid behind a wall. Char chased him down and finished him, though. Leopardon dealt some decent damage to the Gundam with his Sword Vigor and Arc Turn, but didn’t quite finish it off before both mobile suits tore him apart. Takuya blew up the Gundam though, and nearly finished Robot before he was gunned down. Scarlet Spidey tanked approximately a million attacks, and Red Comet couldn’t even hit any unblockables. Eventually Char flew to some higher ground and shot at Scarlet Spidey trying to goad him into losing his height advantage, but that shot ended up killing him. Pretty close game all in all.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Char feels great. Still scary, but not in the brute force way that Amuro is. Red Comet is a great ability to use every turn, and Mysterious Motivations is very neat since it gives your opponent something to play around, even though it will probably rarely ever trigger his bonding turns. Cool stuff. I think his cost is about right.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Really dig this design. All of his powers feel really thematic to the character. Being able to zoom across the map in his Zaku is on point and they work well together. I couldn't get The Red Comet power to land very often, but it was still pretty nifty when it did. No real feedback here, I think he’s pretty cool, I like him a lot, maybe we could hang out or something. (If you don’t get what the last sentence references, I’m sorry.)
