Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
Stalker feels more 'on brand' for him to me than Psychopath does. Stalker feels more methodical and deliberate, which fits Onomatopoeia's MO. To me Psychopath implies a level of mania that he just doesn't really display.

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
Yeah, medical Psychopath and the sort of guys who get Psychopath in C3G are two fairly different things. I.e. I'm fairly sure someone like Luthor probably fits the medical definition of a psychopath, but isn't cackling or murdery enough to be one in-game.
Source: Someone who's had the misfortune to be related to two actual psychopaths (though one's dead now and I have no contact with the other, so it's all good ). |

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
Stalker seems to fit and is a reuse. Hunter, Recluse, Loner don't quite seem to fit as well.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
I guess I just don't entirely get that "kooky" connotation from Psychopath, even in the C3G sense. Sure half of them are "Look at me, I'm CrAzY" types like Joker or Carnage, but you've also Zsasz, Icicle, Killer Frost, and Thawne in there. Thawne especially can be extremely cunning and careful at times.
Stalker on the other hand, gives you Venom and the Xenomorphs. Hardly a methodical lot. I don't really care too much either way so I'll drop it, I just think Psychopath is the more exciting class that'll have him see more use in the future. I know he's kind of a loner type in-story, but I think it would be nice if he could get thrown into the wider DC villain community builds we're brainstorming. |

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
Yes technically a psychopath from a psychology perspective. But so are Batman and Punisher and other things in-game fit better.

Okay, you've convinced me with that lot actually. I'm in favour of Psychopath here.

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
I would rather have Stalker on Zsasz and don’t know Thawne enough personally.

I mean, personally I'd rather have Slasher on Zsasz... and Carnage actually. They'd fit right in.

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
I like Stalker here. It's super on brand and not using it here basically makes it a dead class.

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
Zsasz is what I was thinking of when I suggested it - it's the go-to "serial killer" class in my mind. Like, Stalker works, but when you go down the things this guy is known for - "mysterious serial killer that targets costumed heroes and exclusively speaks in sound effects" - just going with "Stalker" feels like underselling him a bit.
But I don't really like Stalker on our other figures, either. It just doesn't feel like a fully-fleshed class to me. Stalking is something these characters do, but it's not their primary purpose, they stalk as a means to an end. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
Stalker would be terrible for Zsasz. Slasher would be prefect, but wasn't a Class yet when I LD'd Zsasz. Psychopath works great though for someone who truly believes this world is an illusion and you're doing people a favor by removing them from it (and then keeps score on their own flesh).

Re: The Book of Onomatopoeia (breathing)
I'm still feeling Stalker. The idea that Stalker is an underdeveloped class is a plus in my book, and I prefer him being someone without any synergies, as he's never teamed up with anyone as Onomatopoeia. It doesn't affect gameplay in any way (and the Psychopath synergies planned for Grodd II are super super minor), so it's not a huge deal either way.
I'm also going to lower range to 4 preemptively unless anyone disagrees, as that just feels right for the character. He uses guns but he's basically always within punching distance when he starts a fight. Should help avoid cheese builds with Cap/Star-Lord too. |
