Re: The Book of Akumaken
Its absolutely deliberate. Samurai are the only ones immune to each other's Counter Strike. Akumaken, being a Ronin, will gladly trade strikes with Samurai. Charos can Counter Strike Samurai, too.

Re: The Book of Akumaken
I think that
@Dark_Stranger
was more surprised that Samurai can still use Counter-Strike against Akumaken, even though he cannot use it back against them. Charos can both be hurt by a defending Samurai and use Counter-Strike against them, but Akumaken can only be hurt by them. He's not really "trading" so much as receiving.
As the nemesis of the Samurai, it does feel a little odd that they're actually the only unit immune to one of his defensive abilities, but it's never personally bothered me very much. Proud Member of Platyfly!

Re: The Book of Akumaken
You're right. But I've always felt it was thematic in a way, that Samurai don't take kindly to traitors.

Parrying is probably quite difficult
I think that once Aku put on his mask and went from having the discipline of a samurai to the terror that is a ronin, he became less able in combat. And while his defensive capabilities are greater than others, they have become inferior to that of a true samurai.
As far as Charos doing it, he’s a stinking dragon with muscles that dwarf humans. My customs. NE Ohio Tourney - TBA SW Ohio Tourney - NHSD 550 points AotV - Colliding the minis of AotP with the world of HS. |

Re: The Book of Akumaken
The idea that Akumaken's mask impairs his vision is hilarious and is now the only explanation that I will personally accept.
I find similar hilarity in the image of Charos flapping his wings to create a gust of wind strong enough to make anyone stab themselves with their spear, even the mighty samurai. Proud Member of Platyfly!

Re: The Book of Akumaken
He (1) hates them and (2) has a thematic vulnerability to them. Now go on about your business.

I'm just always looking for something that can help the Samurai, but unfortunately Tomoe Gozen is the only C3V/SoV figure that I've found so far that fits the bill. Akumaken's sculpt looks excellent as a Ronin and I have fun using him as a solid standalone hero, but a part of me was still wishing to find something else to benefit the Samurai a bit. I know fully well that he is the enemy of Samurai in the lore, but I would argue that this doesn't necessarily mean that they can't work well together in the game. There are many examples of synergy between units with little to no relation, or in some cases even on opposite sides. Sir Hawthorne bonds just finely with the Knights of Weston, despite having betrayed them, after all. Proud Member of Platyfly!

Re: The Book of Akumaken
If Akumaken is adjacent to a friendly Torin and is attacked by a non adjacent figure's normal attack and rolls enough shields to kill the attacking figure, does he get a marker for Demonblade? Or are the wounds technically dealt by Torin since it is his ability?
EDIT: Should have read Torin's card more carefully, as it explicitly states that the damage comes from Torin. Last edited by Captain Stupendous; January 21st, 2021 at 06:56 PM. |
