I almost always feel that way.

Here is the thing, I can replace the background, easily. However, to make it look congruent with the comic art, it may be really difficult, because comic artists are so very different. I'll try to find a good background though, and if you can help on that end, it would be great too.

Basically, it isn't a skillful challenge, it is a google challenge.

Once I found a suitable comic background (not easy to do at all), the editing was quite easy. Check it out.

Much, much better. I'm not going to print the comic card or anything, but I want the OP to look good enough to do justice to the design.

I don't prefer comic cards, I usually print miniature cards these days, but I know there are several people in the public who prefer comic cards (just watch the requests in the C3G Birthdays thread, they are like half comic). What I do when a comic needs a good background is take a normal picture and add a filter from "Filters > Artistic > Poster Edges" and it looks pretty good. See Awesome Android and Dum Dum Dugan for examples of this.

That said the current cards look great. Only issue I see is that it seems you forgot to turn on the cut line which should always been on cards with Black or White borders.
