Game Summary:

So, the basic deal here is Weather Wizard keeps the team protected until the 'acid test' squad can get up into melee range and start splashing around autowounds. Wizard's D-20 held true today and many wounds were spread by Man-Thing and the Alien invaders once they got in the other team's grill. This had the added bonus of boosting Man-Thing's attack, but unfortunately regular Thing was also getting plenty of extra juice too. Surprisingly, Man-Thing was able to go the distance here and smash through Grimm. The rest of the Fantastic brigade folded soon after, but not before Robot and Man-Thing went down and Weather Wizard had to step in to save the day.

Unit Summary:

• Damage Done (Normal Attack): Hit Thing for 3 wounds over a few attacks.
• Emotional Provocation: Was giving Man-Thing between 3-5 extra dice every time I attacked with him.
• Acidic Reaction: Was generally just nasty, added something like 2 wounds on Thing during their brawl and a few wounds elsewhere.
• Vegetative Muck: Blocked something crazy like 6 wounds from Thing at one point, a real game saver there, plus a few other wounds here and there. The healing only came up once later on in the game.
• Damage Taken: Took a pot shot from Hasbro Man, Thing beat him pretty severely before Reed finished him off.

Result: Weather Wizard is the only one left to weather the storm with 3 life left.

Army Test 2
Map: Sewer Labyrinth
Units: Swamp Man: Man-Thing (290), Swamp Thing (235), Ms. Marvel (350)- 875 total vs Outcast Omega: Magneto (II) (375), Omega Red (300), Mystique (II) (200)- 875 total

Game Summary:

So Man-Thing and Swamp-Thing have a weird kinda-synergy thing going on where Man-Thing sort of 'protects' Swamp-Thing a bit as wounding Swampy to weaken him also strengthens Manny. It ended up working out pretty well, almost always having a decently punchy muck-person to call on with Ms. Marvel's reliable bonding pushed team swamp babe passed the Mutants and their not super consistent D-20s.

Unit Summary:

• Damage Done (Normal Attack): Thunked Mags for 2 at one point, then added a wound with Acid Trip, did 2 wounds on Red over a few attacks, but he added a wound on each successful hit.
• Emotional Provocation: This basically let him 'tag in' for Swamp Thing once enough wounds were passed out. He was reliably rocking at least a +3 to attack every time I attacked with him.
• Acidic Reaction: Got several extra wounds in on the attack side, didn't come up that often on defense, but that was because the other team was jumping through hoops to avoid it, which was fine with me.
• Vegetative Muck: Absorbed around 5 or 6 wounds all told, plus 1 wound removed with the healing.
• Damage Taken: Mags pinged him with throw wounds and normal attacks a couple of times, Omega Red eventually got a lucky turn where he hit Man-Thing with exactly two wounds on both of his attacks to finish Man-Thing off, though hilariously he missed both of his drain rolls and then died from Death Factor right after once the end of the round hit.

Result: Ms. Marvel clings to 2 life as she manages to escape the swamp.

Overall: I dig the new design a lot more than the old one. Gets across the same ideas without the complexity the first version had or the 'Dog from Up' feel it gave Man-Thing. I did these tests at 290 as I didn't notice the change to 280, but it wouldn't have made much of a difference in my games and personally I'd be fine with either price.

With those 2 wins, he went in total 3-6.

I am fine finalizing at 280. None of the other creatures end in 5, so no need to make him the odd man out, and none are currently at 280, so it opens up army opportunities.

I propose Man-Thing move to Final Editing at 280.

Mild tweak to Emotional Provocation, since I could see it being reusable down the line. Other powers look good.

I could see maybe renaming the second power to something like 'THOSE WHO KNOW FEAR...' but that might lose people who don't know the character. It's definitely a pretty iconic phrase associated with him, though - googling it turns up all Man-Thing related results on the first page.
