Re: Public Design Workshop
I use Citadel paints - really good for painting miniatures though a few (mostly the metals) have an annoying tendency to separate, and the pots are annoying to close, and sometimes look closed when they aren't quite properly - the number of times a pot I thought was closed has dried out... Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think they're designed that way intentionally so you buy more. The pots used to be much better.
For brushes, I use Artmaster Fine Detail - large part of that is because I'm vegetarian and will only use synthetics, but these are probably the best synthetic brushes I've ever used. I like that take on the Silver Surfer, and you get bonus points for calling a power To Me My Board! I personally only really know him from the short-lived cartoon - an interesting specimen, that one, though definitely flawed. Most episodes boiled down to 'Silver Surfer is powerless against a given threat despite his godlike abilities, only to learn a philosophical lesson and save the day through the power of space-Buddhism'. Well worth a watch, but, as I said, not without its flaws. Bring Balance is an interesting power which feels like it's trying to channel some of the theme I just mentioned, and I quite like it for that. |

Re: Public Design Workshop
I mostly use Testors Model Master Acryl, but annoyingly that’s like out of production now. Probably going to be switching to Vallejo as my primary now.

The main reason is that you need to thin paints down. Mix some water with the paint and your technique will improve drastically. Goes on the mini better and gives you better control. You don't want to add water directly to pots since you'll need to dilute the paint in different amounts depending on what you're doing and the exact paint you're using too. So with that, personally I waste much LESS paint with dropper bottles! I only work with a few drops at a time. |

Re: Public Design Workshop
Hi, so could I drop a design in here for consideration? I've been writing up a Sauron for a few days and think it's ready. I'm just wondering if there aren't too many designs right now, if I shouldn't if it's been done before (I see there's an old 2012 one), and if it's still okay if I have something else that didn't get finished up (I'd like to wait on Decimation and focus on a simpler Hero design, if that's alright).
Also, I've used Citadel paint for a few mods and it's worked quite well for me. |

Re: Public Design Workshop
No problem with dropping a design! I feel like it kinda works like an IRL conversation. Try not to jump in like...an hour or two after someone has posted something, but the conversation here feels like it’s at a decent breaking point right now. We can also usually handle discussing a design or two at the same time if we need to.
