SUBTITLE = SPECIAL DEFENSE +2

PERMANENT GLYPH
All Unique Heroes you control roll 2 additional defense dice against special attacks. When a Unique Hero you control receives one or more wounds from a special attack, that figure receives one additional wound.

Units: Thor, Hulk, and Red Skull VS Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, and Angel

Hulk was the first to catch a Glyph. He got the Medicine Equipment Glyph which paid off later. Angel moved up and so did Jean, then Jean threw herself to stand on the Permanent Cosmic Shielding Glyph, and just in time to because Thor flew up and threw his hammer at her which she was able to block while standing on that glyph which gave her a +2 to Special Attacks. She then threw Thor around and started moving towards a different glyph, but he caught back up to her to put her one away from death. Then Scott moved up and Jean tossed Thor down and attacked. Jean got initiative and grabbed the glyph of Probability Manipulator, then she threw her self back up top and used the new device to get a 4 skull attack in on Thor! Then Angel flew Professor back to the camp with the Eye of Agamotto that Prof. had acquired . Now Thor was able to fly away and hit Angel, Professor X, Iceman, and Jean with his Hammer, and did a lot of damage, except Jean who used her Probability Manipulator to alter her defenses. Then Jean threw the thunder god down and Iceman picked up the Eye of Agamotto glyph that Prof. had lost and handed it back to him. Now Hulk jumps in and tries to Smash the Professor, but he gets defended with the Psychic X. Jean tosses Hulk away and mortally wounds Thor. Red Skull cannot see so he moves up and then does nothing. Jean tries to throw and attack but cannot, and Beast advances towards Red Skull. Thor gets past the Psy Grip and hits Prof, Jean, Angel, Iceman and Beast, and does plenty of damage, and even kills Professor, but the Eye of Agamotto saves him. Red skull moves up and rolls a 20 and kills Iceman, then fires at Jean and kills her too, and that triggers Angel to fly Professor out of there. Beast engages Red Skull and hits him for 4 wounds, and Cyclops lines Hulk and Thor up for an Optic Blast that kills Thor and wounds Hulk, then Hulks Medicine goes flying towards Angel. Red Skull shoots and kills Angel, then Beast kills Red Skull, and Cyclops wounds Hulk again. Hulk gets the Medicine back and then kills Cyclops and Beast with a Stomp. Professor waits patientily for his final challenge atop of the old ruin. Hulk leaps up and engages professor, and the two go back and forth for two whole rounds, with Professor using the Eye of Agamotto to stay alive. Finally, Hulk is down to one life left and he uses the Medicine, then the two keep it up again until Hulk SMASSHHHH!!!! wHEElll chAiR MaanNNN!!! and Hulk wins with 5 wounds.

I agree with him here actually. I hadn't thought of it before, but it does make sense for Heroes to be able to pick this up and use it (Equipped).

Well how about all Unique Heroes you control? That would allow the Fan Four to have the Cosmic Shielding which is cool.

Yeah, I could go with that. Seems a bit powerful on one hand, but, actually, it's easier to knock an Equipment Glyph away from someone than to dislodge someone from a permanent glyph (even if the former allows for a lot more movement while keeping the glyph bonuses).

I ran some quick math on it and it looks like it actually averages out that characters affected by the glyph take slightly more damage per attack than they would if they weren't affected by it across the damage/defense levels I calculated.

btw, what do you guys consider "average" attack/defense for Marvel? Classic is 3/3, but for Marvel I tend to start my math at 5/5 instead. It actually matters because of the way attack and defense dice ramp at different rates. The dice have always worked in classic simply because 3/3 is the sweet spot their probability was designed for. As you push into the higher bands Marvel toys with, defense needs to overcompensate or it falls behind the curve.

Anyway, I really think you could easily bump it up to +3 or maybe even +4. It only protects unique heroes (and 1 other figure) from a subset of attack types (and Marvel Figures generally have more functional normal attacks anyway). I really think for it to be worthwhile, it needs to offer a clear bonus. The drawback is great, but it's a little too much for the bonus provided, IMO.

It is meant to be a risky thing, but with his suggestion, it would be too powerful especially with Sue Storm.
