Re: The Book of Nemesis - Vote for Initial
Sweet. Running my RPG/board game this weekend so probably will not get to this until next week. japes, when you have some free time will you glance at the comic art in the third post and let me know if you can work with those?
I am at a loss for a background pic. Maybe outer-space or perhaps some mystical symbols? I will have to start a search. Re: The Book of Nemesis - Initial Playtest
Third and fourth picture look usable.

Re: The Book of Nemesis - Initial Playtest
japes, I added some background pics to the third post. Let me know if those work or if I am way off base. I am just not sure what works as Nemesis never really ever stays anywhere too long. I was thinking something mystical or space-y.

Re: The Book of Nemesis - Initial Playtest
Here's my two cents:
This wrote up is functionally sound, but thematically, I don't get much of a sense of who this guy is or what he's about, which is problematic when you're exploring a largely unknown character. It's not necessarily an issue, as maybe the write up makes perfect sense if you know the character, but to me, he's a solid core of stats and powers without much theme or identity. The Sword Sinister is a compelling name for a power that seems exceedingly basic. To me, shooting acid breath is a neater idea than hacking someone twice with a big sword with no particularly interesting effects. Maybe take this approach? Range 1 Attack 5 ACID SPRAY SPECIAL ATTACK Range 3 Attack 3 After attacking with this special attack, one at a time roll the 20-sided die for the defending figure and up to 2 figures adjacent to the defending figure. If you roll a 13 or higher, that figure receives a wound. THE SWORD SINISTER When attacking an adjacent figure with a normal attack, each blank rolled counts as an additional skull. If the defending figure is Human, each blank rolled counts as 2 additional skulls. Riffing a bit from Zairiel here. Both of these powers are short enough that you could probably drop the original sword Sinister and keep them both. Or you could drop The Servant of Khaos power, which I don't fully grasp. Gameplay wise, it's a cool power, but what exactly does it represent? It doesn't feel very Chaotic. Or is Khaos a god who protects him? If that's the case, is Khaos chaotic? I assume he is. In that case, I'd look at making the power feel more chaotic. SERVANT OF KHAOS If any marker that is not a wound marker would be placed on or removed from this card by and special power on any other Army Card or Glyph, you may choose a figure within 3 spaces who must place that marker on or remove that marker from its Army card instead, if possible. That feels a bit more unpredictable to me, as well as potentially not working if he's not near anybody or forcing you to make the strategic choice to harm one of your other figures to save Nemesis. Finally, the spells. Both are fine, neither are particularly interesting. Lord of the Flies is another instance of the name sounding much more epic than the effect, but it looks like you hashed it out a bit so if it's thematically accurate, it works. It just doesn't seem powerful enough to be a Unique Spell. Levitation I fear will go largely undrafted, as I suspect most other Magic Users have flying already. But I could be wrong and it could be helpful. Anyway, you're past the brainstorming phase at this point so all of this can be ignored if you like. I'm not sure how much of my opinion is shared by others. My main concern is with the current write up you are creating a figure who will only ever be drafted and played with by YOU. |

Re: The Book of Nemesis - Initial Playtest
Why is that exactly?
He will be very good against Human builds. The most important aspect to me is getting the theme right which most of your suggestions do not do. He spits acid globs, he does not spray acid. He does breathe fire and I did have those two combined into a SA at one time but dropped them in favor of the Servant of Khaos power. The power represents both his mystical and chaotic qualities. It may not hit the theme perfectly but I think it is a really unique power that fits the character nicely. Lord of the Flies has been tough as many are not happy with its power level but we are already pushing the bounds set by the comics. We cannot just change the powers of characters to make them cooler. My only concern is to make the best representation of Nemesis that I can based on the comics themselves. You can read the comics online. Check out my links in the Danger Room. Thanks Margloth! I will consider your suggestions going forward.
