The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser)
The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser) C3G DC SUPER SECRET EXCLUSIVE 65 FOR GOLD OR COUNTRY ![]() Comic PDF ![]() Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a repainted Heroclix figure from the Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. set. Its model number and name are #005a / S.H.I.E.L.D. Field Agent. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Originally an agent of the FBI, Thomas Andrew Tresser found his life unraveled after his brother and fellow agent Craig Tresser murdered their 'uncle' Ben Marshal just as he was about to become director of the bureau. His family name 'blackened forever' by his brother's inexplicable actions, Tom forsook it and adopted the nom de guerre Nemesis in its stead. Now a vigilante working to bring balance to the 'Scales of Justice', Nemesis eventually discovered that his brother had been but a brainwashed pawn of a criminal syndicate known as the Council. With the help of Batman, Nemesis eventually cleared his brother's name and brought the Council to ruin, but not before seemingly perishing in a helicopter crash. This was not the end for Tresser however, as his unconscious body was recovered by federal agents. After a lengthy hospital stay that was covered by Uncle Sam's dime, and weighed heavily on his conscience, Nemesis was given a unique opportunity to balance his personal scales by working as an advance agent for a new group being put together by one Amanda Waller... a group known as the Suicide Squad! _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

After taking a turn with a figure you control, if Nemesis has not been placed on the battlefield, you may choose a medium Common figure that has not moved or attacked this player turn and destroy that figure. If you do, place Nemesis on the space previously occupied by that destroyed figure and, if there are at least 2 Scale Markers on this card, you may take an immediate turn with Nemesis. SCALES OF JUSTICE When a friendly figure is destroyed by a figure other than Nemesis, even if Nemesis is not on the battlefield, place one red Scale Marker on this card. When an enemy figure is destroyed, even if Nemesis is not on the battlefield, remove one red Scale Marker from this card. There can be a maximum of 6 Scale Markers on this card. BALANCE THE SCALES If there is at least:

Re: The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser)
-How to Repaint Nemesis-
An important note before we begin, there are in fact two different figures named S.H.I.E.L.D. Field Agent from different sets, so you'll want to make sure you get the one from the Nick Fury set and not the Captain America one. The Cap Field Agent would make a fine Nemesis too... except for the fact that she's a woman, which is an oddly frequent issue you run into with pop culture Nemeses despite the original being a Greek goddess. If you do accidentally get the Cap one, you can always paint her up as an Earth-11 equivalent of Tom. Tamsin 'Tam' Andrea Tresser or the like. Anywho, to repaint Nemesis, just follow this color guide and paint the areas of the figure indicated with the paint corresponding to the letter: ![]() Color A: A semi-gloss black for his gloves, 'garter belt', and touching up any spill-over of other colors. Note that this is the only color that will be trying to match a color already present on the figure, so you may want to do some tests runs before full application to make sure the colors match well enough for your tastes. All you have to do here is repaint the white gloves and garter strap completely black, nice and simple. Color B: A flat dark grey-blue for his belt and boots. I ended up making this color myself using Model Master Acryl Colbat Blue and Ghost Grey in equal amounts with a touch of Flat Black, but many paint lines should have a 'Slate Blue' or some such that should work fine out of the bottle. As before, you're just painting white bits a different color and then you're done. Color C: A flat light brown for his harness and holster. I used Model Master Acryl Dark Tan, but many other shades will do just fine. Same as before here, paint all the solid white harness/holster bits solid brown. Color D: A flat to semi-gloss yellow for his hair. I used Model Master Acryl Cadmium Yellow for a classic '4 color comics' look, but you may wish to go with a more realistic blonde color if you're not feeling nostalgic. Similar to before, you're just painting all the brown hair yellow. Remember to get his tiny sideburns, but there isn't any need to redo his eyebrows. Color E: A semi-gloss bright red for his badge. I used Model Master Acryl Guards Red here. This is a bit trickier than the previous colors, as you're not just recoloring an already present color section on the model, but all that you're doing here is painting a solid circle of red on his right breast. You may find it easier to paint a rougher circle and then go back and touch-up the edges with semi-gloss black instead of trying to get the circle perfect off the bat. *Optional* Color F: This is were it gets really tricky and if you're not much of a customizer you might want to just skip this step. To do the scale symbol inside his badge, I used a black Helix 0.05mm technical drawing pen. This is much easier than trying to do the symbol in paint, but still can be difficult. The markers included with Tom's card also act as a printable guide to what the symbol should look like, but obviously you're not going to get but so much detail into the area you're working with. I would start by making a 'T', which is really all you need at this size. If you feel like going further you can add small triangles to each of the three ends of the 'T', but I wouldn't attempt anything else past that. Re: The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser) (Breathing)
The first power "destroying" a figure seems strange to me, since that could trigger all sorts of death related stuff. Like, weird for someone's soul to be claimed I'd they were just a disguise, right? Would "remove from the game" work better here?
Generally we like to put an upper limit on Markers. Arbitrary here, I know, but it's C3G precedent. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

I should note that themewise, I'm picturing him more like lurking in the shadows and replacing someone at some point during the game rather than being Schrodinger's Nemesis who has simultaneously both replaced and not replaced every squad figure at the start of the game. So the person he replaced was actually at the battle for at least a little bit of time. It's admittedly not perfect themewise, but disguise type powers never are. The main thing I wanted was something where the other team didn't know where he was while he was undercover, and not something like Clayface where he is 'disguised' but everyone knows exactly where he is and can do all sorts of stuff to oppose him but somehow just can't attack him. Re: The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser) (Breathing)
Maybe the "switch" wording from Phoenix, et al?
At any rate it's not much more weird than Skrull Infiltrators, on theme. |

Re: The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser) (Breathing)
Just to make sure I'm reading him right: all three powers reference and utilize the Scale Markers, but only destroying an enemy removes one. Is that correct? Is that also triggered by Deep Cover Infiltration?

Re: The Book of Nemesis (Tom Tresser) (Breathing)
Okay, if he's "invisible figure that at some point assumes the identity of SHIELD Agent #7" that works just as well. I can roll with it.

Basically, the second power doesn't do anything on it's own, it just tells you how to get (and lose) the markers his other powers use as a resource. His other two powers don't automatically remove markers, but the nature of what they do means they probably will end up doing so sooner or later (or you're having a pretty bad game and you don't really need to be punished any further anyway). He will be able to comfortably double attack like Galactus or something till the cows come home, but I'm fine with that personally as even when fully scaled he isn't that big of an offensive power house and he'll go down fast as soon as anyone bothers to attack him. Would the card read better if I switched the order of the first and second power?
