I like this guy a lot too.

Electrostatic Bolt Special Attack
Range 5 + Special. Att 5 + Special.
Choose a figure to attack. You may also choose any figures within 2 clear sight spaces of the chosen figure to also be affected by the attack. For each additional figure chosen, roll 1 fewer attack die. Roll attack dice once for all affected figures. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. Any affected figure that occupies a water or swamp water space rolls 1 fewer defense die. Figures with the Electrically Charged special power are not affected by Electrostatic Bolt Special Attack.

Given the Att () dice subtraction, shouldn't this power title say Attack 5-?

I think that makes sense. However I could also rationalize that you are adding a negative one to get the result as well. Like this.

2 targets = 5 + (-1) = 4

But I do think your suggestion is clearer. I guess the question is: which will cause the bigger stink? Changing the precedent, or adding when you are really subtracting?

I ran some extra HH tests, I did with Beast (melee only hero), Hal, Kyle and Sinestro. I'll post the results later.

I guess to me anyway, anytime there is a Range + Special or an Attack X + Special, I don't see it in the positive or negative sense, just that there is a modifier or qualifier or whatever and not just a static Range or Attack #.

That's true, especially now. But I'd like to hear what others think about it too. Like I mentioned above, I just see the + Special meaning that their isn't a static range/attack #. But maybe that's just me.

I think the "+" is appropriate. The plus doesn't really mean additional dice in this context, it's more like saying "the attack could be 5, or some other value". I don't think it matters whether that other value is less than or greater than 5.

It isn't a big issue for me, and I see you guy's logic behind adding a negative integer, but I think that it could be strongly argued that + = additional dice. Just saying.

I can see where you're coming from, but personally I just see the + as not "plus additional dice" but "plus a special circumstance". That circumstance could be anything.
