Fringe stuff is good, yep. I've read quite a bit of "elseworlds" or whatever alternate universe stuff is called. My first main comic book love was Ultimate Spider-Man (I read stuff here and there before, but Spidey really drew me in. Such a good comic).

Speaking of which, is White Knight the story where Joker gets cured and becomes a politician? I read that and really enjoyed it. Didn't know there was a sequel so I'll have to check it out!

I love the concept of Green Lanterns and their powers, but can never bring myself to care about their stories. I've never been into "cosmic" stuff though, either Marvel or DC. I like me some earth.

Saga has been on my read list forever, never got past the first issue though (Not because I didn't like it). I should hit that one soon.

Sinestro Wars (aka Rainbow Brite in space) is probably the best of Green Lantern, so a good one to check out if you want to check them out at all.

Yeah White Knight is the one where Joker gets "cured." So far, the sequel has focused more on the introduction of Azrael and everything involved with him, and it's a fairly unique take on the character.

I really love the kind of "cosmic renaissance" that happened in the mid-to-late 2000s. Marvel was doing their Annihilation/GotG/Nova stuff while DC had GL.

I'd disagree with the Sinestro War story as a good jumping-in point for GL stuff. I tried starting there and gave up pretty fast. Surprisingly really enjoyed the Humphries Green Lanterns book, though, despite not usually being real impressed with Humphries as a writer. The scripting is notably weaker than the plotting but it's still a fun, light buddy cop book.

Saga is fantastic. A few other non-DC/Marvel things I've read lately that I've really enjoyed are Skyward, Monstress, and We Can Never Go Home.

I used to read the IDW TMNT book and it was fun, but I got frustrated with the number of tie-ins. Might pick it back up again at some point.

The only books I read in issues are Venom and its occasional spin-offs/events, now that Priest's Deathstroke (a book I can't recommend highly enough) has wrapped up.

White Knight is an Elseworlds. So it's Jean-Paul, albeit a pretty different version of him.

Yeah, I'd STRONGLY suggest that if you want to read that era, just start from the beginning (GL: Rebirth) and work your way through the two books. A huge part of what makes SCW work, IMO, is the great buildup to it.

Since we're talking comics that are good and what not, here's my obligatory mention of The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye. It's very good, actually beat out Saga for a few awards, and you don't really have to have followed the previous stuff in the IDW continuity to follow the lion's share of it (I'd recommend reading Last Stand of the Wreckers though).

I'm pretty much breaking at this stage to spend Yule/Winter Solstice with my family. I'm probably not going to be around much for the next week or so, so you all have that at least to be thankful for at this festive time.
