Holy swingy tests Batman!

Both "public" playtests have swingy results from a mathematical point-of-view. Counting damage dealt.
Soundwarp (initial): 258, 145, 237 (avg: 214)
NoBody: 1184 & 0 (avg: 592)
Ronin: 400 & 50 (avg: 225)
Overall average: 325.

If you remove the outliers, the overall average is 218. So add a little for a margin of error & 240 is looking pretty good.

In reading Ronin's tests, both games were close. Shadow Lass didn't last to the end but her teams just scraped through to win with her cost at 240. Totally different to Nobody's tests where both games were pretty much dichotomous whitewashes. That all makes it difficult to judge from reading the tests where she should be.
@Ronin : In your thoughts, you suggest weakening the aura from 3 to 2 spaces. If doing that, from your games, wouldn't she have been then overpriced at 240? And have less effect on the games?

PS: had you played Phantom Girl before? What do you think of her Phase Drag. I (personally biased) think it's one of the most fun powers.

I think she would have had a similar impact, but it might have required a little more thought on where to place glyphs. At 3 spaces I felt like she never had to consider placement that carefully, because they hit such a big area.

I think I have, but not in a while. I dig powers like phase drag a lot, though, and had a lot of fun with it.

@Tornado , i can't recommend teams as thats not an area that i am good at. But could you please try the glyphs with a range of 3 for one game and a range of 2 in another and report back on how you felt the difference is.

I think you could just rerun what Ronin tested and see if the results are different. Possibly with slight adjustments to Shadow Lass's teams if folks are wanting to see her cost higher (not sure what the thinking is there).

I'd maybe start with her as is and with the glyph range lowered for the first test and run one of the tests Ronin did, then figure out what to do with the second test from there.

That's how I'd approach it at least.

I liked her with Phantom Girl and Cosmic Boy - gives you some figure movement to help herd people into the darkfields. From there you can probably just pick your favorite Legionnaires? They're a generally strong faction, hard to go wrong. Might be some other figure-movers in there that I'm not thinking of.

On the 'against' side, I just pulled stuff from stock. Some armies will be more affected by her disruption than others, but I wanted to see her against the sort of standard papery armies I usually put together, to see how she'd do against someone who wasn't drafting with her in mind.

Got a test in. I have to say this is not fun to play against, not quite Graviton annoying but right up there. So many negatives, no sight powers, reduced move, attack and defense.

I would drop the range of the Darkness and the attack and defense reductions by 1.

Shadow Lass(220), Superboy(330), Cosmic Boy(260) & Phantom Girl(180) vs Frankenstein, Wendigo & Dragon Man [990]

R1: Phantom Girl and Shadow Lass move. Dragon Man moves. Superboy and Cosmic Boy move, Frank moves. Superboy takes high road and 3wounds DM, Cosmic Boy takes the fountain, misses DM. Wendigo Leaps, misses Superboy.

R2: Shadow Lass moves, drops a glyph of Darkfield behind the Creatures, KOs DM (4/5skulls, 0/4shields), Superboy(-2A) misses Wendi(-2Defense). Frank wades through Darkness, misses Superboy, Wendigo misses Superboy. Phantom Girl misses, Superboy wounds Frank who misses, Wendi blanks out. Phase Girl 3wounds Wendi, Superboy misses Frank who 3wounds Superboy, Wendi misses. Glyph removed.

R3: Frank wounds Superboy, Wendigo KOs Superboy, heals, takes high road, Cosmic boy Throws him for a wound. Shadow Lass takes high road, drops glyph, wounds Frank(3/6skulls), PG moves, misses, Frank who blanks out. PG 2wounds Frank, Shadow Lass KOs Frank(4/6skulls). Wendigo moves through Darkness, wounds PG who wounds Wendi, CB KOS Wendi.

CB Full, SL Full, PG 1/5wounds

Some good dice vs, bad dice and I probably could have played the Creatures a bit better, letting Superboy get high ground on DM was a bad play for sure but it was a timely Throw from Cosmic Boy that sealed this one as Wendigo was getting savage.

If a design is unfun to play against, that's a red flag, IMO. It's something that should be adjusted to be less punishing, hopefully.
