After some discussion internally this is how we decided we are handling lob attacks like the grenade SA for online play:

For clarification on 2b, does "passing through" mean through the actual physical obstacle (such as the trunk of a jungle tree or a piece of a bush), or through the hex or edge of a hex that the obstacle occupies? If it is the former, how do we determine that for online play, where only the top of the jungle tree is visible?

For 2b, you should check whether you can draw a line that does not cross the hex of the obstacle. For this purpose, imagine the obstacle fully takes up- and exactly takes up- its hex or hexes.

This was a very confusing sentence at first but I think I got it. Basically, if there's an obstacle/terrain between the Airborne elite, and the target, that obstacle needs to be lower than the lob height (12) to make the attack. If it's higher than that, you need line of sight.

Precisely, and we're defining "between" as lying along a straight line a la clear sight rather than counting hexes a la movement/range.
