Summary: Holy %$#@. Why did I even bother bringing Red Skull? BB never benefited from the rerolls. He just slaughtered everyone. Both Spidey and Fist died in a single hit from him.

Vs.

Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Spider-Man (250) (900)

Spoiler Alert!

Recap: Luke and DD take to the centre while Iron Fist goes around the outside of the map. Crossbones grabs height and blasts DD for 3 wounds. DD hits Skull for 2 wounds. Harpoon shoots Luke for a wound, but misses his D20 roll for removing OMs. Spidey moves up, and Luke hits Skull for another wound. Battle Beast (BB) Picked Luke as his Foe, but can’t get near him. BB hits DD for DD goes the distance. Crossbones brutally finishes DD for two nasty shots. Skull hits Luke for a wound. Spidey Slings Skull to low ground but misses. Luke finishes Skull off. BB gets close to Luke and deals 2 wounds to him from rolling 4 skulls. Luke misses BB. BB brutally finishes Luke. BB picks Spidey as his new Foe. BB rolls 7 skulls against Spidey, who misses his Senses roll. He SUPER dead. Spidey loses all his OMs and then BB runs around and kills Iron Fist in a single attack also.

Summary: Hah, the Viltrumites didn’t have a chance. Mark got close at the end, but wow. Battle Beast is a serious powerhouse. Also of note, Angstrom kept Mark busy for a full 2 rounds and dealt 3 wounds to him with his Alt Reality, but in the grand scheme of things it probably wouldn’t have mattered.

Vs.

Omni-Man, Invincible, Atom Eve (1000)

Recap: Eve gets to the middle first, to try to give cover the the other Viltrumites. She shoots Ion for a wound. BB takes the rear, picking Omni-Man as his foe, and waiting for Ion and Nebula to get into position, while Angstrom waits to grab someone when he gets the chance. Mark flies forward to hit Ion from height, and Eve lowers Ion’s defense. Ion is easily and decidedly killed. Angstrom grabs Mark off the board. Omni-Man goes after Angstrom, but misses. Next round BB gets next to Omni-Man and rolls 7 skulls. Even uses a shield for him, but he still takes a total of 5 wounds. Omni-Man hits BB for 3 wounds. Mark takes a wound from the Alternate Reality. BB rolls 7 skulls against against Omni-Man, and he’s super dead. Mark takes another Alt Reality wound. BB kills Eve effortlessly. Mark finally gets back to the battlefield. BB attacks Mark, only getting 2 skulls for once! Mark retaliates with 4 wounds on BB. BB eventually overpowers Mark.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
He’s a bit much! His ferocious strike is seriously nasty. Especially paired with his rerolls on his Foe, any Foes he has are basically already DOA if he gets near them. While thematic, BB systematically destroyed 1000 points himself in my second test. While his defense isn’t anything super special, his offensive output makes me think he should be closer to 450. Also of note he rolled a full 7 skulls a TON of times. The rerolls really helped with that. I really don’t know what tweaks I’d make though.


GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
Love the mechanics here. Feels perfectly like Battle Beast.

WORTHY FOE
At the start of each round, if Battle Beast does not have a Foe on the battlefield, you must choose an enemy Unique or Event Hero with the Super Strength special power on the battlefield. The chosen figure must be the Unique or Event Hero with the highest Attack number listed on its card among enemy Unique and Event Heroes with the Super Strength special power on the battlefield. Battle Beast cannot leave engagement with his Foe and must attack his Foe when possible. When attacking his Foe, Battle Beast may re-roll all dice in his attack roll that do not show skulls 1 time.

FEROCIOUS STRIKE
When attacking with Battle Beast’s normal attack, if you roll at least:
* 2 skulls, subtract 2 from the defending figures defense.
* 4 skulls, the defending figure immediately receives 1 wound.
* 6 skulls, wounds inflicted with that attack cannot be ignored.

FIGHTS ALONE
Battle Beast cannot take a turn unless you revealed a numbered Order Marker on his card for that turn and no special power on any friendly army card can add to his Move, Range, Attack, or Defense.

SUPER STRENGTH

Damage Dealt: Killed Superman with a couple of wounds from Spidey , only put one wound on Wonder Woman

WORTHY FOE: Started with Superman and he died while WW was his foe. Rerolls only added a couple of skulls

FEROCIOUS STRIKE: First attack on Superman was a 6 skull attack that landed 4 wounds. After that I only rolled 3 skulls max.

FIGHTS ALONE: Spider-Man's bonding does get around this. You could add no additional turns lingo to this power.

Battle Beast and Superman went straight at it, with Battle Beast landing 3 wounds with his first attack and Spidey adding one. Superman retaliated with 3 wounds on the cat. Next turn Battle Beast added a 6th wound to Superman and Spider-Man finished off the Kryptonian. Wonder Woman advances to meet them and puts 2 wounds on Battle Beast on the last turn of the round before she becomes his foe. After an initiative switch she is able to finish off the alien cat. Spidey does put 3 wounds on her in response though. She puts 2 wounds on Spidey as Sauron advances. Next round Sauron engages Wonder Woman and puts 2 wounds on her and Spidey adds a 6th and final wound. Batman advances and takes out Spidey, but Sauron is just a little too strong for the gotham hero.

Damage Dealt: summary

WORTHY FOE: Ultraman managed to defeat him before Battle Beast was able to get a new foe

FEROCIOUS STRIKE: Rolled 4 skulls once and 3 skulls the second time

FIGHTS ALONE: Ms. Marvel also gets around it.

Battle Beast and Ultraman charge at each other, Superwoman follows to be motivated. Battle Beast starts off strong with a 4 skull attack, which inflicts 3 wounds total, Ms. Marvel adds one with her second attack. Ultraman retaliates with a 5 skull attack that lands 3 wounds as well, and Superwoman adds an additional one wound. Battle Beast adds 2 more wounds to Ultraman and Ms. Marvel doesn't help, but Ultraman uses his Heat Vision to wound Battle Beast and then Superwoman takes him down. She-Hulk advances and Ms. Marvel falls in the meantime. She-Hulk is able to finish off Ultraman and take down Superwoman before she falls to Owlman's Calculated Defense.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: He's definitely really solid and a fun beatstick. Two close games where Battle Beast pretty much earned his cost. I wouldn't be against adding the no additional turns language to him but if you do I'd probably bump his life back to 8 and he'd be good. At that point his best pairing becomes someone who can save his OMs when he dies, which is fine. They let him fight till he dies and then reassess and send in the rest of the team.
