I may see if I can get a camera that will allow me to do a painting series on these when everything is released. Might be fun to buy a speed paint kit, a can of white spray, some cheap brushes, and show folks how to knock out an entire paint job over the course of a weekend day and still beat the old paint schemes.

And then perhaps a second series for a more advanced painting tutorial for those who are willing to spend a bit more time with them.

I will ask about washes. I agree with the folks pointing out that you can hire friends or people in the online community to paint your figures for you if you don't want to try it yourself.

The return of HeroScape is great news indeed, I didn’t believe it when I first heard it. Thanks to everyone at Gen-Con for posting info and not completely blurry photos! It’s hard to believe my one and only Gen-Con was 15 years ago! I’ve been reading all the new posts since returning to the site yesterday after an epic battle with my password. I know there’s a lot of people on the fence about this due to the unpainted minis, I’m bummed about that too, but after backing the revival of HeroQuest and being impressed with both quality and support for that game I’m confident the relaunch of HeroScape will be just as epic.

I’m excited to say that I’ve been authorized to report that the minis will be shaded by general. It will not be a sea of gray. The miniatures will be in the schemes of their generals.

I also agree with IAmBatman. I've never played any other miniature game because I despise painting. And yes I've tried. One medium 5 size miniature took four days of hell... so never again. I got into Heroscape and only Heroscape because it was pre-painted. That was the draw. The simplicity of the rules also set it apart, however not painting was just another part of the fundamental simplicity that made the game accessible. Not having a telephone book sized ruleset and weeks of painting were two sides of the same coin that made this game easier than its hobby store brethren.

I'm not a miniature gamer. It wasn't a gateway drug. I'm a Heroscaper.

100% agree with Sherman Davies here. Take this with a gigantic grain of salt, because I freely admit that my autism means I rarely post here and literally never get involved anywhere else online precisely because I know I am hyper-sensitive to any form of impoliteness, and thus minimize my online interaction in general for very obvious reasons. Let's just say on other websites not reading the comments or forums is my mantra.

That said, the reason this is the site I do read the forums here and post even rarely is because the community is generally the most polite on the net. Pumpkin King's comments are the exception, and they can claim not to be bashing anyone all they want. That sentiment was in all likelihood sincere, in fact I don't doubt their sincerity, however your intentions don't mitigate your words' effect. I definitely still feel bashed and apparently insane just because I don't like the same hobbies as you. More importantly, I also feel like joining this discussion was a big mistake. This is why I avoid online activity so much.
