Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
I can dig 1 = 2. I was trying to leave room open for 1 = 2 in sky maps and then 1 = 3 in space to show the increasing vastness, but I think that y'all are probably right about the end user disliking that and with 1 = 2 for outer space making more sense and just keeping 1 to 1 for sky maps.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

1-1 feels better to me for sky.

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
Why would sky be different to how flying units currently move?

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
Actually, I don't even think we need a change for space. Vastness of space seems like a scenario rule. I mean if you are really claiming that one space is so huge then you are opening yourself up to having changing distances for attacks & multiple figures on a single space.

Fair enough. Thought it might be an interesting rule to help space feel more distinct. But if y’all aren’t digging it, it’s easy to scrap.

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
Don't hate it. Just think it's more a specific scenario rule than anything.

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
I can see 1-2 for space, 1-1 for sky. I'd want to see how it felt in action before making a decision either way.
Hopefully the threat of exposure damage and the fact you can only fly should help make space feel pretty distinct. The other thing to note is that a lot of the fliers (Superman, Surfer, Lanterns) are possibly more likely to fly at max speed in space rather than on an inhabited planet, which might help get around its vastness more. |

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
I think there should probably be some rule for figure movement for figures who don't have flying but somehow get onto Cosmic Tiles (probably from leaving/being ejected from/escaping a destroyed spaceship VDO). I'm thinking something like they can't move on their own, but all "drift" X spaces in a chosen direction at the end of each round. So they're a lot slower, but aren't completely dead in the water.
I could see a strategic gambit where a ranged ground pounder leaps out of a spaceship in hopes of scoring a lucky shot and then trying to drift into another safe spot (planet, ship) before dying from exposure. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
The one other thing I like about the 2:1 movement ratio in space is that it would help you do more with less for maps. Like a 15 by 15 map would essentially become a 30 by 30 map.

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
True point about range. I probably will just to see how it feels.

Re: Cosmic Terrain Brainstorming Thread
I might also try where every time you count spaces for movement, range, or special powers, each space counts as two.
