The Book of One-Space Volcano Terrain Tutorial

The Book of Single Hex Volcano Custom Tutorial

-Supplies Needed-
  • Household aluminum foil
  • Sculpey Oven Bake Clay
  • An official Heroscape single hex Ice Glacier or a small screw driver
  • A conventional or toaster oven for baking
  • A cookie tray
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Gray acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
-Tutorial-
  1. Mold your aluminum foil into the shape of an official single hex Ice Glacier; this shape is about 1 1/2 inches wide at its base and 3 inches tall.
  2. Mold a thin layer of Sculpey over the entire aluminum mold.
  3. Place the official Heroscape glacier against the side of the model and roll the two together as you press them. This should create a nice pattern across the mold.

or, if you don't have the official Ice Glacier, you could use a small screwdriver to create a similar pattern. Place the flat end of the screw driver on the model near the top and drag down creating small crevices along the sides.
  4. Stand the model up on your baking sheet and place it in the oven.
  5. Bake according to the directions.
  6. Paint the entire surface red.
  7. Go over the raised and bumpy parts of the model with a gray brush, being sure to leave plenty of red crevices and cracks.
  8. Your finished product can now be placed on any hex on the battlefield and used as a Volcano.
NOTES:
  1. The official single hex Ice Glacier is the exact same size and shape as the single hex Rock Outcrop.
  2. The paints used were Apple Barrel paints. They are usually less than a dollar for a bottle at any Wal-Mart or craft store.
