Re: The Book of Absorbing Man
I don't care what they do really. If they want to mess with that, then that's fine. But if anyone asks stupid questions about whether they can remove markers before they move when using Adaption and not using Power Absorb, I will light them up for asking it because it will be plain as day on the card what you can do.
Griffin was pretty much the rules lawyery guy back in the day, so I'm sure he had a reason for wanting it being redundant. It's been awhile since I've looked at the classic Scape cards, but if they are redundant in wording of 2 powers on the same card, perhaps that's what we were trying to maintain. Re: The Book of Absorbing Man
Well in that case, you can do what you need to do. My only concern is that I've learned over the years in various forums and gaming in general, that people will say, "well it doesn't say that" or "there's a reason it says this on this power and not on that" etc. Lots of questions on BGG for various games have people asking things and when someone answers what the intention is of a certain rule, they can get shot down by the questioner because they don't want to know what people "think" the rule means, they want to know exactly, and from the designer themselves.
But if you have your poker sized cards for yourself, then it doesn't matter. If you are going to post them somewhere here for people to download, then they can always check the "Books of" for whatever poker sized card has some changes to them in order to find out the official wording. They can even be referred to do that in the download section where the poker cards are downloaded from. I would imagine that Absorbing Man isn't the only one that has some serious text, so you may need to make some changes for some other characters as well. Re: The Book of Absorbing Man
Actually Tornado believe it or not there is more text space on the Poker-Sized cards than the official. I'm typically able to increase the font size about .3-.4 so I wouldn't worry about trying to trim text.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Absorbing Man
I think both powers need the “remove all markers” clause because they are referring to different reasons for removing the markers.
The first is basically saying, “if you want to ignore terrain effects, you can dump the markers on this card to do so”. The second clause needs to stay because it has a different function. Essentially, it’s similar to resurrection powers where you remove all wounds and then place X wound markers: you’re trying to get to a specific number without a lot of algebra or “stacking”. If Carl absorbed 4 attack off of Punisher, and now finds himself in front of Batman and wants to steal his superior 5 attack, the clause removes any confusion as to whether the absorption stacks. Does this make sense or did I make it even more complicated? Lol |

Re: The Book of Absorbing Man
I think you could rework the wording a little to maintain the current mechanics and avoid the repetition, but I don't think it would really be any shorter. I wouldn't mess with him any.

Re: The Book of Absorbing Man
I agree. Especially since we'd have to create this one from scratch since the template for this one is no where to be found at this time.
