Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
Only slightly so. Arrogant is a better fit for his Personality though.
Also, why is his crotch plate not a hit zone? |

Looks to me like his crotch is a target point. He must have some kinda hidden weapon there.

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
I bought Marvelscape on clearance at Target a few years back and played a bit with my brother before sticking it in the closet. I also bought RotV on clearance and never even opened it. Just recently made plans to teach it to a couple friends and finally get back into it and I'm really excited. That's why I found this site. I was hoping to find a couple of maps/scenarios. Had no IDEA there was such a big community!

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
Welcome to the addiction!
Always good to see new players join. Just when you thought it was all right, someone made it alright. Good trades with - Porkins / xraine69 / mac122 (x2) / frylock / Ztimster (x2) and probably others I forgotten to mention...sorry. |

Welcome, Gojira!
You can find plenty of maps and scenarios here - it's one of the busier sections of our community. |

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
Thanks for the welcome! I was looking at some of the maps and, yeah, there are a lot of maps here. It's actually a little overwhelming and I'm not sure where to start.
I don't have any of the expansions or extra figures yet though, and it seems like a lot of maps call for those (particularly the forest one). I should have plenty of tiles however, since I have the Marvel set and two of RotV. Really looking forward to teaching my wife the game this weekend! Do you guys recommend starting with the easy rules or diving right in? |

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
You're right - with two RotV sets, you have enough terrain to make many of the maps you'll find here. Check the Downloads section near the top of the site, the battlefields are sorted by how many sets they use.
Normally people recommend skipping the Basic game unless you're teaching kids younger than 8, but if your wife has never played a miniatures game you may want to play one or two games of Basic just to understand the core mechanics of moving and attacking. |

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
Yeah, definitely skip the basic!
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
Also dive into C3G if you like comics. You can pick up tons of older Heroclix figures for $1 or less, some as cheap as a quarter! Then just print out the cards and you will have lots of units to mix and match with. Playing superheros vs. supervillians is a lot more fun then trying to mix the supers and classic scape.

Also, the Marvel stuff, while it works fine with the Valhalla stuff, was not technically designed or tested for full compatibility.

Re: Players who got hooked through Marvelscape.
Welcome, Gojira!
Yeah, definitely skip the basic rules. I only once ever played part of a basic game and it was pretty boring. If you're looking to get back into the 'scape, Auggies Games is arguably the hands-down best place to get stuff. He has figures, terrain, and a lot of really cool custom items. And these Marvel guys are right -- I recently started using some of the custom comics figures with HeroClix miniatures and it's a blast. The C3G guys know what they're doing. rolls one less defense die against figures who like him. |

Quote:
I'll thank you and Bats not to sully my thread with your wrongheaded opinions. Personally, I love mixing and playing all my Heroscape figures together. First, it means I don't have to divide my collection into two separate games that happen to use the same rules. Second, it means I get to fully embrace the cross-genre mishmash that drew me to Heroscape in the first place. (As a kid who used to dive into his toybox and create G.I. Joe/Star Wars armies to take down the evil duo of Godzilla and his sidekick, 8" Mego Mr. Spock, I think I'd eventually tire of games if they were all-fantasy or all-science fiction or all-superhero, as much as I love all those genres.) Third, treating Heroscape as a single game allows me to have battles like this: Scarlet Witch versus Sir Dupuis - to the death! Besides, with only the RotV and Marvel sets to play with, it sounds like Gojira will need to mix his toys together for a while anyway, if only to have more units to choose from. |
