Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
I'm not going to repeat why there's still certain trade off elements at play, refer to my prior post for that.
The design passed into Initial testing, including your approval. I spent the time to run 4 games to garner results. The results show that it's not a balance, competitive, fun, or theme concern. |

Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
You don't check victory conditions until the end of the turn, so Raiden popping in after a figure is destroyed wouldn't pressure him to show up early. He would still be able to safely show up after the last figure is destroyed, with that timing.
Personally, I prefer him as a sure thing rather than as a gamble. If we were talking about a cheap figure, that'd be one thing. But if you're paying almost 400 points for the dude, he should absolutely hit the battlefield. I don't think that's a crazy indulgence. It's a strong effect, but as long as we're pricing it right, I don't see how it's in any way harmful to the game. |

Gonna need a couple of votes here.

Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
Thoughts on cancelling this? May just call it good on the MK release as we have 4 completed designs and this seems to have little interest/support.

Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
I really, really like the design and am really, really excited to see the character. I'd hate to see it canned - the only reason I haven't been commenting more is because I've been spending the last few days celebrating Winter Solstice with my family.

Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
I think some of it is just that you're up against the holidays right now, yeah. I know you've got a lot of interest in MK from folks who aren't Heroes, so I wouldn't be too quick to drop it.
Definitely sympathize, though - had a little trouble drumming up some interest in Cassie as well. |

Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
Personally, I'm fine with him staying off the battlefield until after everyone is dead. I get the balance concern - figures being untouchable is a real flag for me, as mentioned during the Abstract Heroes conversation - so while this is on the border I don't think it crosses the line, if only because he has zero board impact until he arrives.
But, considering YK is a Hero and his Yea is required to pass to On Deck, I'm waiting to see his response before making any motions toward testing. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Raiden (Vote for Public Playtesting)
Theoretically the opposing team also has a 400 point advantage until Raider enters the game as well. As Ronin said, appropriate pricing should take care of any issues here. His points may creep up and I would definitely tag some of our craftier army builders to see if there is a definitively abusive build.

I'd like to see some comments from the CRB.
