A bit late on the trend, but here's my list!

Spoiler Alert!

Unique Hero of the Year: Oh dang, I'm really struggling with this one. I think I have to give it to Sentry though - He's such a fun, evocative design, and him and Hulk have both really pushed the limits of what a Unique Hero can be in this game. Maybe next time I play him he won't die before inflicting a single wound though.

Event Hero of the Year: I actually haven't had the chance to play a ton of these guys, since they're harder to fit into playtesting builds. Of the ones that I have tried, I love Trigon and Prometheus, who are basically the diametric opposites of what Even Heroes can be, but are both blasts to play.

Uncommon Hero of the Year: Might have to go with unreleased Soundwarp Uncommon Hero. I think it's technically a secret still, but it's a fun one.

Common Hero of the Year: N'Garai! Surprising number of synergy options for how light the Demon grouping is in general.

Unique Squad of the Year: Blackhawk Squadron is a really cool one.

Common Squad of the Year: Gonna have to go with the self-pick with Cybermen. Really happy with how these guys turned out.

Personal LD of the Year: Super happy with a lot of the things I got a chance to do this year - so many of them have come out of the C3G process a million times better than they were when they were just ideas in my head. If I had to pick though, I might have to give it to Lois Lane and The Doctor (1st). I'm particularly proud of how we made these characters work in a combat-based game.

Glyph of the Year: Probably going to have to give it to the Sharknado as well. Just plain goofy fun in the classic C3G way.

Spell of the Year: Toss-up between Tarot: The Magician and Lord of the Flies. Really proud of how the Magician allows you to build armies in new ways, and Lord of the Flies is just a wonky cool effect.

Destructible Object of the Year: Cyber-Conversion Unit. Feel guilty for another self-pick, but this thing kinda goes part-and-parcel with the Cybermen.

Release of the Year: Festival of Lights! Just so much creativity and energy put into this massive release, with special shout-outs to Archie and Ark for really being the architects behind it all. (With Ronin, Tickle, and Bats all putting in a ton of work too.)

Public Design of the Year: Green Arrow II. A big help in any JL build, I've played this guy a ton since he came out.

Faction of the Year: Probably have to go with JL/Champions. Shoutout to Archie's work polishing the Rogues as well.

Moment of the Year: The Con! It was awesome to get to meet all these great guys and play some games of Scape against someone other than myself.

Art Accomplishment of the Year: I love the art stuff Tornado has done with the TARDIS.

Helper of the Year: sporx has an amazing eye for detail that has been a huge help with the massive poker card project. I also want to give a shoutout to everyone who helped me with Shade the Changing Man this year. He was a huge (if fairly troubled) passion project for me, and I'm very happy with where he's at now.

Public Contribution of the Year: FreshFood's C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion has been a ton of fun!

Surprise of the year: Just how crazy the production speed has been this year! It really feels like a new golden era for C3G.

Good call on production speed being a surprised!

I'm definitely psyched that we have such great cards for the Doctor and Lois. Lois was stuck for a long time with it being unclear how to make her relevant on the battlefield and I think we nailed it, which is awesome.

Nice call on T-Spinny's TARDIS work today too! Folks should playtest that! Gotta plan/set up my own tests today.

Some more stats before my list:

• We were one design shy of topping last year's total number of numbered designs by 100.
• Our previous record was in 2012 (172), and as people have said we beat that by over 50 designs!
• Two of our top three most productive months of all time happened this year (May and December).
• Before this year we only had 3 months on record where 20 or more designs were completed. This year we did it 6 times.
• Though it is a like 3 way tie for 10th place, 7 of the top 10 most productive months were this year.
• We only had 4 months this year that weren't the all-time high for that month.
• Our previous best was 9 consecutive months of double digit numbered design completion. We are currently on month 11 of the new record.

Spoiler Alert!

Unique Hero of the Year: So many good ones here, but I gotta give it to Lois Lane here. She was long overdue, and I think we nailed it and made a cool space for similar stuff.

Event Hero of the Year: Probably Prometheus. Dude was awesome and felt just like he should, a cool one man army. Plus the work to get him able to roll makes me back him more!

Uncommon Hero of the Year: Pair this with the Unique Squad thing in a minute. This secret uncommon that goes with the Squad just nails the theme, and I love it.

Common Hero of the Year: I’ve not really played with any of them, but Orange Controller gets points for adding to the Lantern Constructs that still need some expanding.

Unique Squad of the Year: Not really public knowledge, but Soundwarp made a really cool one that is a tad numerous. I dig it.

Common Squad of the Year: Same as the heroes, haven’t really experienced them, but Cybermen do seem cool and cool to see a Universe like Dr Who getting that expansion.

Personal LD of the Year: My real favorite is a secret right now, but runner ups would be Superboy (Jon Kent) and Mister Mind. Love how the both of them turned out, especially the latter.

Glyph of the Year: Sharknado wins here. Partially because the other fun one I liked I haven’t had a chance to play yet, so default goes there.

Spell of the Year: I love the potential of {B]Tarot: Magician[/B] even though I haven’t gotten to try it yet.

Destructible Object of the Year: Central Power Battery here. I like the step into draftable stationary stuff.

Release of the Year: My cheat answer is Valiant Unity, just because it was my first real release and a factional one I’d worked a lot on at that. My more real answer is Festival of Lights because it was a behemoth and awesome people did awesome things to make that happen!

Public Design of the Year: Since I gave it slightly elsewhere on Event Hero, gotta give it to Godzilla here. Love that he’s finally arrived in C3G.

Faction of the Year: The one I wanna say is one I designed so that feels like cheating, so I’ll give it to the Rogues. Played them recently and was impressed by how far they’ve come this year.

Moment of the Year: The feeling of accomplishment that was getting the Joker reeval done and making him not something that just sucks to play against. And he's no longer hanging so prominently over every initiative affecting design we make.

Art Accomplishment of the Year: Lot’s of fun stuff has happened on the art front, from weird, fun looks like Plastic Man, to unified factional art, to some other cool artistic approaches with stuff like markers, but even though I haven’t used them I gotta give it to the Poker Cards. Quite the achievement to get done there.

Helper of the Year: Archie is a machine. Plain and simple. He did serious work this year.

Public Contribution of the Year: The Strategy post is cool to check in on and see thoughts on lots of old stuff. Definitely want to get more active there.

Surprise of the year: Probably [b]the productivity of December[b]. We kept talking of how we expected things to slow down and lo and behold it was one of our most productive months ever.

Mister Mind was a blast to play against on TTS. Definitely one I’m hoping to pick up again soon!

That's crazy that December was that productive! It felt slower to me at times, but just compared to the year as a whole. What was our LD count for December?

I've definitely loved all the production stats you and Tickle have been generating this year! It's been really interesting to track and has inspired me to keep moving too.

And, man, I forgot Joker's reeval was this year! It's been such a long, crazy year. Great job doing the heavy lifting on that one too, LV.

Moment of the Year: Building Rules finished!

Art Accomplishment of the Year: Poker Cards are impossible to top due to the expansiveness and awesomeness but individually, Golgotha.


Personal Art Accomplishment of the Year: Pretty hard to decide between marble floors(in gray, blue and pink), roof map, door; stairs and elevator tokens, 3D elevator, Astral Plane map, TARDIS art, Lord of the Flies spell card. I have to give it to the unofficial Eternal Warrior Deadside Track.


Helper of the Year: sporx.

Public Contribution of the Year: Gamer Husband for getting the Battle Reports going again in a new format.

Surprise of the year: Ally contributions. Simply awesome and amazing. Thank you.

My list is short since I didn't get to be fully involved this year but...

Faction: haven't played them yet but I have gotten two of the three figures so far but I'll go with the Royal Flush Gang
Hero: a certain new hero to lead the YJ. She's great.
Sporx deserves a lot of credit for keeping me motivated and being my QA/QC for the Poker Cards

Art is a tough one. I feel like Warp, Tickle, and Arkham did some of their best work this year and T-Spiny took over my role in the terrain area and Doing awesome, so I can't pick. Instead I'll just park an old A3n quote right here from the Art Department...since it still fits.

One thing that sticks out to me as that even though I feel like I've been missing around here a lot lately I too had one of my most productive years designing. Surprisingly the bulk of my work was the months pre COVID. I'm the one person it seems that COVID slowed down this year.
