Character Bio - Mitth'raw'nuruodo, better known by the name Thrawn, was a male Chiss who served in the naval forces of the Galactic Empire and became the highest ranking non-Human in the Imperial Navy. Regarded by many as the best military strategist in the navy, he rose to a position of power despite the Empire's strict speciesist policies. Thrawn's strategic mind was such that it seemed that he knew what his opponents would do before they did it.

The Grand Admiral was serving in the Unknown Regions on his flagship Star Destroyer Chimaera around the time of the Battle of Endor, which saw the death of Emperor Palpatine and the subsequent breakdown of the Empire under rival warlords. He returned five years after the defeat at Endor to take control of the remaining Imperial forces and crush the New Republic, the successor state to the Rebel Alliance. Under Thrawn's rule the Empire was a legitimate threat in the galaxy again, and many systems were forcibly taken or willingly defected back to the Empire. To combat Luke Skywalker and act as a countermeasure against Thrawn's new Dark Jedi ally Joruus C'Baoth, Thrawn obtained Ysalamiri: lizard-like organisms which disrupt the Force. Thrawn led a series of campaigns against the fledgling New Republic and won some massive victories for the Empire before finally being defeated at the Battle of Bilbringi.
