Valley War I: "Big is Beautiful", Modesto, CA, 8/20
What: A Central Valley HeroScape tournament!
When: Saturday, August 20, setup 11:00, 1st game starts 12:00 Where: Krier's Cards and Comics in Modesto Organization: Swiss style, 5 ~hour rounds, with a lunch break. Rankings determined by win-loss record, with tie-breakers being (in order) head-to-head results (only if two players have the same record), strength of schedule, record against common opponents, d20 roll (I hope it doesn't come to that...). Players are responsible for providing (or borrowing) their own figures, cards, dice, wound markers and OMs. Post-tourney: I'll be headed to Doc's Q for the best bbq west of the Pecos, if anyone wants to join me. Prizes: 1st place-The Viking, and $30 gift certificate to our host, Krier's (courtesy of Killometer) "Best Sport"-NIB Riflemen & Spearmen (courtesy of Typhon2222) Format: Big is Beautiful: I love big monsters duking it out, but I don't want to require them by using a format like Monster Mash or Dragon Wars, so instead I'm just going to "encourage" them () with a new format. Army composition has no* restriction at 460 points. Players get a bonus of 40 points for the first Huge Hero they include, and an additional 20 points for each additional included Huge Hero, to a maximum of 560 points. # Huge Heroes...Army Points ___0.....................460 ___1.....................500 ___2.....................520 ___3.....................540 ___4+...................560 Competitive Armies discussion thread Huge Heroes:

*"No" is technically a lie-there's a 24 hex limit, and Marvel is prohibited, regardless of points/unit sizes. The SoV's Zombie Hulk is permitted. Also, the prototype Hatamoto Taro is fair game. Maps: Looking for volunteers to provide maps.

I probably won't be able to make it, but it looks like it will be really fun.

Re: Valley War I: "Big is Beautiful", Modesto, CA
Oh yeah, make the tourneys even further south so there is no way for me to play!
Malechi ~ A geographically challenged 'Scaper (Oakland 100 miles) (San Jose 150 miles) (Modesto 185 miles) ... And, that's one way! Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.

It is too early now for me to commit, but if possible CyborgJustin and I will be there. That is right after the end of CyborgJustin's swim season which is often the best chance to take some vacation time before he starts back up in school.

Re: Valley War I: "Big is Beautiful", Modesto, CA
I can make it anytime that month. Also, I should be able rally up 3-6 more players too.
Contact Grim too, he and another player are from the Merced area--about 45 minutes away. Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege. Hymar's_Temple 1moreheroscaper's_Customs War_of_the_Great_Wellspring |

Hmmm.... What's the driving time from, say, Berkeley? About two hours?

So long as it doesn't conflict with anything I've got going on, I'd probably be willing to make the drive out.
