Welcome to my custom thread. Just as a brief introduction to myself, I was introduced to this game on New Year's Eve 2020, and I've been hooked ever since. This game has had an immense impact on my personal and professional life. I've rekindled old friendships that languished when life got busy and I even ended up in what I consider my career position due to Heroscape (albeit indirectly). Now, my passion for the game has also evolved as a means of creative expression. I'm having a blast both creating and viewing other's creations.
While these customs are almost exclusively intended for personal use (I plan on adding some personal customs later), I'd still appreciate any thoughts and feedback. I have several designs I'll get around to sharing, but I don't want to just dump a bunch of designs at once, so I'll limit it to every few weeks.
Colossus
Spoiler Alert!
Quote:
Smash and Cleave
Range 1. Attack 4.
When Colossus attacks with his Smash and Cleave Special Attack, he may attack one additional time.
Specialized Weaponry
Large and huge figures roll 1 fewer defense die against Colossus.
Tactical Strike 17
When an opponent's figure moves adjacent to Colossus, roll the 20-sided die. Add 6 to your roll if the opponent's figure was placed adjacent to Colossus by a figure you control. If you roll a 17 or higher, the opponent's figure receives a wound. Figures may be targeted only as they become engaged with Colossus.
Colossus Bio/Thoughts
Spoiler Alert!
Colossus is a Warforged Titan, which is a type of Warforged that fought alongside their more humanoid companions, acting as siege weapons. Colossus has been summoned to aid his Warforged comrades in battle, offering his brute strength and ability to aid the tactics of his comrades.
The initial idea behind Colossus was that it would be cool if the Warforged Soldiers could switch other figures into harm's way. Thematically it made sense to me, as the Warforged passing an enemy unit to the deadly reaches of Colossus can resemble a mechanical assembly line.
The design has gone through multiple iterations, but I think it's getting close to a compelling and balanced design. Not sure if I'll keep the "Tor-Kul-Na" stomp move, but I'm going to test it to see if it's fun and helps him slightly keep with the pack.
Note that this is the only design I'm considering to nominate to SOV, so any feedback/thoughts are especially appreciated
Tortle Faction
Spoiler Alert!
Stormshell Warriors
Spoiler Alert!
Quote:
Steady Bonding
Before taking a turn with the Stormshell Warriors, you may take a turn with a Tortle or Elemental Hero you control who has a move value of 3 or 4.
Flood Launch Special Attack
Range Special. Attack 4.
An unengaged Stormshell Warrior within 2 clear sight spaces of Majikobe may use Flood Launch Special Attack. Choose 3 spaces in a straight from the attacking Stormshell Warrior. Move the Stormshell Warrior up to 2 spaces along the chosen spaces. If the Stormshell Warrior ends their movement adjacent to an opponent's figure on a chosen space, attack that figure. While using Flood Launch Special Attack, Stormshell Warriors do not take leaving engagement attacks.
The minis used are Tortle #4 from the Seas & Shores D&D Icons of the Realms set, Tortle#6 and Tortle Druid #16 from the Mordenkainen's Foes D&D set. Note that the yellow magic part has been removed from the Tortle Druid's hand.
Credit to Vydar_XLIII for helping me nail down the Special Attack language and for the creative suggestion to allow the Warriors to bond with Earth Elementals and Water Elementals
Majikobe, Flood Mage
Spoiler Alert!
Quote:
Deadly Torrent
Range Special. Attack 3 + Special.
Choose 4 spaces in a straight line from Majikobe. All non-Tortle figures on those spaces who are in line of sight are affected by Majikobe's Deadly Torrent Special Attack. Add 1 to Majikobe's attack dice for every Tortle figure you control on a targeted space that is within line of sight, up to a maximum of + 2 dice. Roll attack dice once for all affected figures. Affected figures roll defense dice separately. Until the next time you reveal an Order Marker, Stormshell Warriors you control may not use their Flood Launch Special Attack.
The mini used is the Tortle Druid #40 from the Seas & Shores D&D Icons of the Realmset.
Bios/Thoughts
Spoiler Alert!
The Tortles are a tribalistic society hailing from Toril. Unlike their speedier Lizard "cousins," the Tortles slow-moving nature has led them to rely on the natural elements around them to survive, leading to harmony with both Water and Earth elementals. Some Tortles, such as Majikobe, have developed the ability to summon and command large amounts of water, which the Tortles have weaponized, by firing themselves at their enemies. When receded into their hard shells, the Tortles become dangerous ballistics when launched, or deadly hazards when Majikobe chooses to unleash all his might into a single deadly deluge of water.
Ullar has summoned the Tortles to Valhalla as their harmony with nature and dedication to preserving their people harmonize with Ullar's ideals.
However, not all Tortles rely on magic or their brute strength to defend their people. Rather, one such Tortle, Grand Master Yawgoo, has spent centuries honing his craft as a Monk. Now that he has been summoned to Valhalla, he has resumed his training, recruiting the Shaolin Monks to teach him of their abilites. The Shaolin Monks miraculously have taught Yawgoo a limited version of their greatly leaping ability, a feat thought impossible by any Tortle. (Design in Progress)
