Re: Magic: the Gathering Strategy Board Game (Looks HeroScap
Tom Vasel has agreed to an interview, which is great since he's 1) actually played the game (or at least the prototype), and 2) he's a Heroscape fan so can address questions from that perspective. It's probably the best we can do as far as getting more detail on the game until Hasbro is ready to say more!
Anybody have any questions you want answered about what the prototype was like when he played it? If so, please post them here and I'll try to cover them. The interview will be later this week (exact day TBD). There is nothing more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. --MLK |

Re: Magic: the Gathering Strategy Board Game (Looks HeroScap
What a great idea; thanks! I'm most interested in how the Special Powers for each Planeswalker work; since that's potentially the biggest difference with Scape (or not).
1. Do all planeswalkers have the same Summoning ability to gather their forces? 2. Can their Special Powers each be activated during the same part of the turn phase? 3. Can each be activated only once per turn? 4. Do some planeswalkers have more than one special power? 5. What are examples of the kinds of powers they have? |

What's the deal with multi-life Squad figures? How does that work?

I'm curious for a comparison to Summoner Wars.

Re: Magic: the Gathering Strategy Board Game (Looks HeroScap
How are the armies controlled? We see no order markers. Does each player get to move their entire army at once, or do players take turns activating one card? If the latter, can players activate the same card over and over on their turn?

What are the rules differences between this game and Heroscape?

I've been getting very excited for this game. I really hope it is compatible with HeroScape.

Re: Magic: the Gathering Strategy Board Game (Looks HeroScap
Compatible in what way? I mean, it's a wholly separate game, not an expansion or anything ....
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Magic: the Gathering Strategy Board Game (Looks HeroScap
Probably like Star Wars Miniatures (considering it's Wizards of the Coast who made that game too), in SWM you could use two figures in a turn (completely separate figures, no repeats until all of your figures have been used over their turns). Something similar is what I'm thinking will happen in this game.
"They are too numerous to fight. What shall we do?" "Fight anyway." "You can never defeat another if you know not how to defeat yourself." my tradelist |

Re: Magic: the Gathering Strategy Board Game (Looks HeroScap
Since it is a Magic related game, they may be using mana in some way. Each player starts each turn with a certain amount of mana points to spend. Then each spell cast and unit summoned/activated requiring a different amount of mana. Units can only be activated once per turn.

Quote:
I'm pretty sure that the video posted back on page 1 said that each player chose one unit to use per turn. It didn't clarify or go into any (if any) restrictions. Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide shot selection! Scaper of the Week #17 How to get to Skyknight's house: Drive to the red light, then call him. |
