Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
Solid write up. Duty of Care is cool, though interesting that you could completely hijack it by destroying his Duty with an auto-wound power.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
My thinking is just that they're a really natural pairing. Jason is an extremely solid unit who likes to be up in your face soaking up wounds and attention. The Doctor enables Jason to soak up more damage, likes for his chosen figure to get attacked a lot, and gets that big swing when his chosen figure dies...which Jason does more than most. On the flip side though, the Doctor's chosen figure dying also has that downside, so maybe Jason repeatedly dying will screw you over more than anything.
Idk, I'm not super worried about it being broken or anything, I'm just worried that Jason and Lanterns will so vastly overshadow the thematic picks for the character. (cheap companions and another Gallifreyan, mainly) That's an interesting point, but one I don't really know how to fix with the limited space we have left. I suppose if he has the Screwdriver, he still can deal (match-up dependent) damage. |

Not entirely thematic, but could species restrict it to Humans and Gallifreyans.

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
That's a pretty good option. Wouldn't protect Nardole, but that's thematic anyways. Still allows Lanterns, but maybe that's just how it is.
I do think a point cost mechanic would be the easiest and most thematic system, since I don't really see many single DW characters crossing the 200 point threshold. When I do him, I might try it at first just to see if there's resistance, but I'm never going to be the person who pushes hard to add a mechanical thing like that to the game. |

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
Hmm, solid point about Green Lantern, but I guess all those Sky People have to stick together.

I've struggled with capturing Eight, because he does have such a strong personality (Half Oscar Wilde, half immortal alien, half kid trying coffee for the first time), but they're also not traits that translate super-easily into game mechanics. This take definitely lean pretty heavy into the pickpocket/sleight-of-hand elements of the incarnation, maybe more so than is "truly representative" of the character, but I feel like it's a pretty fundamentally Doctor-y concept overall. He confronts you face-to-face, slips a whats-it in your pocket when you're not looking, then uses that to defeat you. It feels like the spirit of the 8th Doctor, even if it's not encapsulating everything he does on a regular basis. T inspired me with the idea for the Jelly Babies Glyph. I'm sure there's more than a few who consider the idea of characters stopping the fight to eat candy a bit silly, but comics characters have been known to enjoy a mid-battle Hostess Fruit Pie every now and again. Cool write-up. Having a power named Infinite Pockets pleases me.

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
Do you think Infinite Pockets could actually hold infinite Glyphs without being broken? He'd still drop them upon receiving wounds, unless they were his starter Glyphs.
I definitely think if we have a Glyph of Jelly Babies, we can rework Four to have them. He's another Doctor I want to take a second look at. |

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
I was going to ask the same thing! Something about Infinite Pockets having a "maximum of 3" just seems wrong.

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
Did you know the Doctor's favorite brew is made right here in Kalamazoo (well technically Comstock now, but originally in K-zoo)?
I have occasionally ordered it as a Gallifreyan but have yet to have a bartender cool enough to know what I was talking about. |

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
That's really cool! I'll definitely have to try some if I'm ever in the area. Or maybe if I'm lucky, at the Total Wine, but they're usually more about the local stuff than crafts from other areas.
