That's exactly what he meant. Nowadays they don't mess around with the serious games. They know serious gamers will gobble up anything they have to offer and take advantage by getting a pile of money from them up front.

Maybe they learned from their mistakes concerning the Marvel game release. Had they released a couple of Marvel boosters at the same time as the Core set, it very well might have sold well enough for them to continue making it. I'm fairly certain that 85-90% of those who bought TCB would have also bought at least 1 Marvel booster. That is a fair amount of profit they missed out on.

How long did it take Wave 1 to hit store shelves after RotV was released? I don't recall but it seems like they were released pretty close together.

Plus, this is the Magic brand we are talking about. The production of expansions goes without saying.

So it could be like this is a core set, we could see expansions in a couple months from now. That's how Wizards works with Magic. They could do an expansion for the game based upon the new set they're adding. (Battle for Zendikar!) Which means Zendikar expansions!

I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for terrain heavy expansions. We'll probably get some tiles but I doubt it will be anything like the HS terrain expansions. There are only 8 hexes (4 terrain pieces) in the main set. Expansions will probably be mostly flat cardboard terrain and 3D objects, with a handful of hex tiles.

Terrain is just like jello. There is always room for more jello. Except to store it...

I'm just hoping for cool variant tiles, like the ones in the pictures look like they could be used for quicksand or mud or something.
