To be honest, really, it's whoever can hit first. The battle axe would slice through a samurai without a doubt, but a well-aimed slice from a katana would get the viking down fast. And while the samurai has his speed, the viking has the fact he's armed with a freakin' battle axe.

But I think I'll put my vote in for the viking right now.

A battleaxe is an extremely heavy, unwieldy weapon. I would think the speed of the katana would win hands-down. That's why rapiers replaced broadswords...

Final bet's is all on the viking. Though the samurai has a fancy bow... the axe, the longsword? It'll lay down the law. Definitely a close match, though.

EDIT: Crap, samurai won. Ah well. It's all about the precision; that's what really did the viking in. If it weren't for that sweet bow our Nordic pal would have beat him easy.

Next time? Ninja vs. Spartan, and I'm going for the Greeks. In a fight - not an assassination - the ninja has no real chance.

I disagree. Viking should have taken it. WHy not yumi vs viking bow? Katana vs longsword? Weird. It was awesome to watch though! Like HS TV.

I checked this show out. It was pretty cool, though I wouldn't say their word is law.

Id've given the samurai staff-blade victory over the sword.

But for ranged weapons? Yeah, the bow was unstoppable at long range, but at a shorter range, those spears are devastating. You don't need accuracy for those!


But I was rooting for the samurai the entire time.





And I think the Spartan will win next week. Ninjas were assassins, meant to kill before there was a fight. While a spartan was pretty much a viking, except with more discipline. So yeah. My money's on Sparta!

I agree with whatever else you said, too.

The weapon matchups weren't perfect this time, either, IMO. Katana should've faced longsword (and won). Great axe should've faced naginata.

It's a tough call on this one. Viking has size and strength, ferocity, while samurai has skill, accuracy and dicipline. Viking has endurance while the samurai has speed. I'm still unconvinced of some of the weapon pairings and the samurai not trying to thrust with the katana on the chainmail, it would have gone through no problem. Also, I hate that once again, the bow makes all the difference and that is boring. Hopefully next week there will be no bows.
