Character Bio - His childhood was not an easy one. The dark had given him near endless nightmares. He feared the creatures of the dark and loud noises startle him. His father often took him on hunting trips to accustom him to his phobias. In an unfortunate incident, if you could call it that, on one trip the two were separated and Low-Light was forced to fend for himself for several weeks. When authorities finally found him, he has changed. He used to be afraid of the bogeyman, now he has become one himself. Low-Light can maintain his position and be still for hours. It doesn't matter what advantage the enemy has, when the sun goes down, and you can't even see two inches from you, that is where Low-Light truly reigns. Low-Light's superb sniper skill enables him to pick off his targets in even the lowest of illumination affordable. He prefers to maintain his own night-vision equipment. He actually made his own innovations in image-intensification, mostly self-taught, and even holds two patents from his efforts. (joepedia)

  A: No, Deadly Shot only doubles the skulls rolled on your attack dice for that attack, it has no impact on skulls generated by other means.

-Strategy, Tactics and Tips-

• A lot of soft synergy can be generated for a unit like Low-Light. General stat boosters capable of helping him roll more attack dice pairs well with the Double Shot power. Then any figure than can help move Low-Light into position on their own turn is good for two reasons. Sniper Targeting only works when Low-Light does not need to move on his turn, so being moved by other units is a big boon for that power. Then being able to move Low-Light up to high ground or onto a shadow space quicker also helps his effectiveness.

When Low-Light attacks a figure on a Shadow Tile, the defending figure does not receive any additional defense dice for the Shadow Tile. Low-Light cannot be targeted by non-adjacent figures for any special powers or attacks while on a Shadow Tile.

SNIPER TARGETING
If Low-Light does not move this turn, you may add 3 to his Range number and 1 automatic skull to whatever is rolled when he attacks a non-adjacent figure.

DEADLY SHOT
When attacking with Low-Light, each skull rolled counts as an additional hit.

Low Light Custom Mini Tutorial

The mini we are using here has what looks like a shotgun, so we'll need to do a little work to make it look more like it could be a sniper rifle. We'll start out by giving it a deploy-able tripod using a bit of wire. I used a paperclip, but you could try out the same process using a staple or something similar.



Picture is a little blurry here, but the important thing to see is how I went about bending the wire. After snipping off a smaller length of wire from the paperclip, I initially bent that wire in half over the gun barrel so that makes a U shape. Then bend each end of the wire up 90 degrees to create the feet. It's easier to bend the wire using your needle noose pliers if you bend a large section of wire. Afterwards, you can clip off the extra wire.



Even though just bending and squeezing the wire together over the gun barrel should result in a pretty tight fit, it's best to go ahead and add some superglue and insure it doesn't get knocked loose later or move on you while painting.



Low Light is a blonde, so paint the back of the head yellow in between the two goggle straps from behind one ear to the other. I used MSP Clear Yellow #09095 but any yellow should work just fine.



Next I painted the entire outfit black, boots, gloves, gun, everything accept the face, goggles, and yellow hair. The top of the head above the upper goggle strap I also painted black to create his hat. Any Black should do, I used The Army Painter War Paints Matt Black.



I didn't take pics the rest of the way, but this image above is what I used as my painting guide.

I started out by trying to dry brush the gun and tripod with The Army Painter Warpaints Gun Metal, but it mostly just ended up getting a light coat of paint. I wanted the weapons to stand out a bit from all the black and grey of his outfit, but you can opt to skip this step and just leave it black if you don't have any gun metal paint on hand.

Next I painted his jacket, pants, the chest plate armor, and the boot straps with a light to medium grey paint. I used MSP Cloudy Grey #09089. You could alternately just use a dark grey during this step and skip the wash I use later. Leave the boots, ammo packs, belt, shirt, gloves, and hat black. I also left the little sections on the wrist that are well defined black too.

I then painted the goggles red using MSP Fire Red #09004 and also painted the jackets right shoulder red too. I used the black paint again to make some touch ups as some of the grey paint got away from me. The final step was to give the outfit and weapon a wash using Citadel Shade Drakenhof Nightshade. This turned the light/medium grey outfit into a charcoal grey, and toned down the gun metal paint, all while still leaving the black parts distinct. Just don't wash the face/head at all and avoid the red shoulder pad as well. I ended up putting another coat of red on my shoulder pad after getting some of the wash on it.



Now that the painting is done, the rifle needs a scope. So I grabbed my little used Shield Sniper.



Just use your hobby knife to cleanly remove the scope from the gun and set that aside. Their will be some exposed plastic along the top of the gun now that is white.



So just paint over that white part with your black paint. Still works fine as a Shield Sniper just using the iron sights, so return it to wherever you store it before and use is as is going forward.


*Alternate Idea* You can use the rifle without the scope for your Snowjob custom mini and that way you only use one SHIELD Sniper for both Snowjob & Low Light.




Now take the Scope and use super glue to attach it to the top of the gun. You can then rebase the figure if you want too. I just used a Clix disc as the new base, remove the sticker and that little bump of plastic in the middle of it. Then I painted the disc one shade of grey, the little raised base where the figures feet are attached a different shade of grey, then glued the figure and a couple of small rough looking rocks on mine. I thought the grey & black outfit would look good with a rocky base, and wanting to climb up high onto some rocks to set up a sniper position makes sense as well.

Good catch, that needs to be cleaned up. Just posted where I left it in the Joe thread. Intent is it only works for his attacks, not everyone else's. Although if that is something we want to explore here, I'd be open to that. When pulling the Bio together, his joepediea entry talks about how he has 2 patents for nightvision equipment. So he could be a guy that hands out nightvision gear to the other members of the team at the start of battle if we wanted that. Maybe that would give him a Commando synergy hook to help build out the team a little more.

NIGHT FIGHTER
Low-Light may not be targeted by any non-adjacent opponents' attacks or special powers that requires clear sight while occupying a Shadow tile. For the rest of the game, opponents figures who occupy a Shadow Tile roll 1 fewer defense dice when attacked by a Commando figure you control.

Background for the mini could be just about anyplace where a sniper might set up shop. A blasted out building would match up well with the grey/black outfit without having to put him in the dark. Would also give him an Enemy at the Gates vibe.

Random question but if I did the art here could I do a night vision alt card? (Like it's in the greens and whatnot of looking through night vision googles.) That seems fun to me.

He's like a combo of Merlyn and Deadshot, so a simple enough design. I like opening the bonus against Shadows to all Commandoes. Snow Job does something similar for snow/ice bonuses.
