Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 1/6/16
Quote:
I went with more of a buff to Attack/Defense - following a Master Woo style aura because the Roman Archers need a little defensive help and the Tagawa need an attack boost to be more competitive. Might drop the Combat Leader to keep points down - as 80-points seems low with an Attack/Defense aura and OM flexibility. |

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 4/29/16
The LOTR lot I bought came with a nice Gríma Wormtongue figure. I thought I'd spitball a custom for him. I'm using the LOTR cards from
@Sherman Davies
, so this Gríma fits thematically with his Gandalf, who gives friendly figures within 6 spaces the fearless personality.
He's a one-evil-trick pony. I thought of giving him some kind of negative aura, but the initiative roll seems like it might be worth something. Suggestions welcome! Last edited by IshMEL; March 16th, 2017 at 12:26 PM. |

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 4/29/16
Argh!
I've been using Dropbox for image storage. Which has been great because it was super-easy to save images from Photoshop right to the Dropbox folder on my computer, without having to go through the trouble of uploading them to another site. And if I changed them, I didn't have to re-upload them anywhere. Dropbox just took care of it. Well this relied on using the "Public" folder. Today Dropbox turned off access to the Public folder. I mean, the images are still there, but you can no longer view them directly. I think they sent me an email about this pending change, but I honestly did not really pay attention. This means that all my image links are borked. They're not all Heroscape cards, but I have over 550 images in that folder. Which means uploading all of those cards here, and re-doing all the links.... Just when I was about halfway done with updating my index posts, too. OK, rant over, I just needed to complain! |

I am also in the process of moving all my images to the Heroscapers Gallery. It's a darn shame. But sometimes s**t happens, someone has to deal with it, and who you gonna call?

Yikes. If it helps any, I can relate; I remember the PITA when I switched from Photobucket to Flickr (and then back again), and that was when I had fewer pictures than I do now. Only thing to do is take it one step at a time and you'll be done uploading them all before you know it.
(Apparently Dropbox just didn't want me to see what your Grima card was like.) |

Thanks all for commiserating!
@Sherman Davies I started with the Grima card. Gotta start somewhere... Does anyone know, is there a shortcut for inserting images that are in your gallery? The gallery has an <img> source link but that doesn't work in phibb or whatever it is I'm writing with here. |

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 4/29/16
I don't usually share figure acquisitions before I have a card brewing, but I picked this up at the pharmacy this afternoon:
It's a pirate! On a motorcycle! Brandishing a cutlass! With a hole in his pegleg for the foot peg! Courtesy of Hot Wheels. The scale isn't too bad (compare with Finn) and for $5 I could not resist. Here's a better picture: I think a little wash is in order. It's called the "Skullface". |

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 3/23/17
OK, so I have finally uploaded my cards, updated this entire thread and fixed the images throughout. It wasn't actually that bad -- the index files were mostly updated with some global search-and-replace in a text editor. And, I had a nice trip down memory lane re-reading the thread. There may be some images missing still -- I didn't always bother to upload old versions of cards that I was working on, for instance. But the finals should be all accounted for. Let me know if you run across anything wrong.
This also forced me to do the housecleaning I've put off for too long. Here's a change log of sorts:
I did not put all the stats / powers in text form along with every card. I like doing it but it would have pushed this project out even further. (The text gets generated from my spreadsheet, but that's not entirely up to date either so...) The current count (on customs with a card is) 32 26 36 23 36 34 25 (glyphs / objects) 3 Plus: 18 "Cheapscape" / Proxy cards 10 Marvel adaptations 93 Superhero adaptations Which I think works out to... 336 cards. Phew! Obviously, I have as much fun making customs cards as I do playing Heroscape! Thanks for all the encouragement, helpful feedback, and inspiration from this community. Now to that backlog of cards to be created... and the miniatures waiting for inspiration to strike! |

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 3/23/17
So I recently acquired this Clix:
It's a really well-done sculpt. The "lightning bolt" twists in a series of angles through an S-shape around the figure, and it "floats" on 3 other bolts while others give it a sense of forward motion. Plus, it was cheap. I started thinking about what I would do with it. Flying, and some kind of Lightning attack, and... hey, why not clone this?
Spoiler Alert!
I mean, I don't always have to be creative... and I don't foresee acquiring this particular dragon any time soon. On the plus side, this figure (an Archon?) would have more maneuverability (single space, no flappy wings in the way), making the Lighting attack easier to set up. On the negative side, it would lose two different bonding squad options (I can't see making this a predator.) So, Quahon veterans, is this a terrible idea? |

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 3/23/17
That's a really cool looking figure. Seems like a waste to just make a Quahon clone out of it. I know
@Ixe
has a Superhero faction (Rannians I think?). You two should collab to make a card fitting for such an awesome looking unit.

Re: IshMEL's Customs: Updated 3/23/17
Yeah, that honestly looks like too cool a figure not to try to do something original with it. Not sure what I'd do, but there seems like there's a tonne of possibilities with that sculpt.
