Gordon takes Batman for Bat Signal, Merlyn has no rival, KGBeast puts the “1” on Gordon, the “2” on Robin, and the “3” on Batman.
Round 1: Initiative Boys in Blue. Batsignal moves Batman up six spaces. Gordon moves forward with a full Police Back up of six cops.
Hand Ninja and Merlyn advance.
Gordon advances again, but only manages to move up five cops this time, due to elevation changes.
KGBeast advances and fires futility at a Cop. Three Ninja advance.
Beat Cops advance, take height, and shoot down two Ninja.
KGBeast advances and targets Gordon. He rolls an unblockable against one Beat Cop, but a second saves it with Protect and Serve, limiting KGBeast to one target. Then KGBeast would hit Gordon for a wound, but the second Beat Cop protects him instead. Hand Ninja advance, but can’t touch the Cops.

Round 2: Initiative Assassins. Merlyn hits Gordon for two wounds and the Hand Ninja fail to hit any Cops but do take out Gordon.
Beat Cops go, one of them following the Secret Attack Plan, and Clean Up the Streets of three Ninja.
Merlyn hits Batman for two wounds. The Hand Ninja advance but only get one target and can’t hit.
Batman hits Merlyn for one wound with the Shuriken, but can’t hit any Ninja.
Merlyn and the Hand Ninja take out three Beat Cops.
Beat Cops advance but only get in the range to attack with one, who KO’s a Hand Ninja.

Round 3: Initiative Assassins. KGBeast can’t hit a Beat Cop and the Hand Ninja advance and score one wound on Batman.
Batman KO’s two Hand Ninja with Shuriken.
KGBeast KO’s a Beat Cop from height. Hand Ninja advance, but can’t hit anything.
Batman punches KGBeast for two wounds from height.
KGBeast gets a wound from Shadow Strike and Hand Ninja fail to hit anything.
Batman can’t hit KGBeast.

Round 4: Initiative Boys in Blue. Robin advances and KO’s a Hand Ninja.
KGBeast disengages from Batman who lets him go since Unstoppable Focus would KO him. KGBeast fails to hit a Beat Cop with an unblockable and that Beat Cop instead is KO’ed Protecting and Serving Robin. Hand Ninja go. One falls to Shadow Strike. Another fails to hit Batman.
Batman goes. He takes out a Hand Ninja with his Shuriken. Robin engages KGBeast, but can’t hit.
KGBeast hits Robin for three wounds from height. The last Hand Ninja turtles.
Batman KO’s Merlyn with Shurikens and hits KGBeast for a wound. Robin can’t finish KGBeast.
KGBeast KO’s Robin. The last Hand Ninja advances.

Round 5: Initiative Assassins. KGBeast only rolls 1 skull and can’t KO Batman.
Batman follows the Secret Attack Plan, but can’t KO KGBeast.
KGBeast falls to Shadow Strike.
Batman KO’s the last Hand Ninja.

Unit Summary: A little more dice luck and this could have gone KGBeast’s way. Despite the margin of victory for the Boys in Blue, this one felt pretty balanced, with the Beat Cops providing the strategic edge due to Clean Up the Streets matching up well against Hand Ninja.

• Damage Done (Normal Attack): KO’ed (3) Beat Cops and inflicted (4) wounds on Robin (4).
• NIGHTS OF THE BEAST: Placed the “1” on Gordon, “2” on Robin, and “3” on Batman. Rolled (2) times against common figures to destroy (1) Beat Cops.
• UNSTOPPABLE FOCUS: Inflicted (0) automatic wounds. Gave him one free disengage.
• CYBERNETIC ENHANCEMENTS: Useful for the +1 in melee. He usually either had height from range or +1 in melee here.
• Damage Taken:

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Batman with 1/4 Life, Oracle with Full Life, and 5/12 Beat Cops win.

Penguin moves and has Hired Guns attack. Only one has a target, though, and one Ninja is KO’ed.
Merlyn gets height and snipes a Hired Gun. The Ninja advance and take out another.

Round 2: Initiative Assassins. Merlyn snipes a Street Thug. The Ninja take out a Street Thug and the last Hired Gun.
Penguin uses Criminal Syndicate and takes out a Hand Ninja.

Penguin uses Criminal Syndicate and another Hand Ninja falls.
Merlyn and the Hand take out two more Thugs.
Street Thugs go. Two-Face runs ahead, but decides not to shoot. The Thugs take out one Hand Ninja.

Round 3: Initiative Assassins. Merlyn takes out a Street Thug and a Hand Ninja takes out a second.
Street Thugs go. Two-Face advances and hits Merlyn for a wound. Street Thugs take out one Ninja on four tries.
Merlyn one-shots Two-Face. Hand Ninja take out two Street Thugs.
Street Thugs go. Penguin advances, but can’t hit a Hand Ninja. Street Thugs take out one Ninja in four tries.
KGBeast moves up. He KO’s a Street Thug. Hand Ninja can’t get any KO’s.
Street Thugs go. Neither Penguin nor four Street Thugs can get anything done.

Round 4: Initiative Criminal Syndicate. Penguin uses Criminal Syndicate and KO’s a Ninja.
KGBeast and Hand Ninja each take out a Street Thug.
Penguin and Street Thugs fail to hit any Ninja.
KGBeast KO’s a Street Thug with an unblockable, then forces Penguin to shed a maker for a Political Investment. Hand Ninja KO the last Street Thug and put one wound on Penguin.
Penguin fails to KO a Hand Ninja.
KGBeast fails to hit Penguin with an attack. Hand Ninja fail to hit Penguin.

Round 5: Initiative Criminal Syndicate. Penguin KO’s a Hand Ninja.
KGBeast engages Penguin and rolls terribly, failing to hit him. Hand Ninja hit Penguin for two wounds.
Penguin can’t hit KGBeast.
KGBeast and Hand Ninja force Penguin to shed his last two Investment Markers.
Penguin hits KGBeast for a wound.
KGBeast whiffs his attack. Hand Ninja fail to get the job done.

Round 6: Initiative Penguin. He can’t hit KGBeast.
KGBeast finishes his primary target, Penguin.

Unit Summary: With no asphalt or concrete on the map and only one decent Crime Lord in Penguin (II), the Street Thugs probably were a poor match against the more mobile Ninja and their hard hitting archer Assassin. KGBeast was fine here, but I really moved him in as a closer. I think I might’ve been able to win this one without ever activating him.

Awesome thanks! Does he feel pretty balanced so far? Looks like it. Fun and interesting to play?

I wish he could kill cops a bit more effectively, but no way to do that elegantly. At least it’s hard for them to protect his target, which was the goal

Before attacking with KGBeast, destroy all 5th Precinct Beat Cops in this game. Then do the same for other games going on within 800 clear sight spaces of you, just to be safe.

Yeah, I'd say he feels pretty balanced so far. Both his games really came down to how the Ninja matched up with other squads, though (Cops > Ninja and Ninja < Street Thugs outside of concrete/asphalt).

I'm not sure Street Thugs are really a good combination with Penguin (II) either. I think he probably prefers the Body Guards and more Crime Lords.

Start the game with 3 numbered white Target Markers and choose up to 3 different enemy Unique Heroes. One at a time, place the numerically lowest Target Marker on each chosen Hero's card. Before attacking a non-adjacent figure with a Target Marker on its card, one at a time, roll an unblockable attack die against any common figures adjacent to the defending figure. When KGBeast attacks a figure with a Target Marker on its card, if that Target Marker is the lowest numerically on an Army Card in play, the defending figure rolls X fewer defense dice, where X is equal to the number on that Target Marker.

UNSTOPPABLE FOCUS
Any time KGBeast receives a wound from a leaving engagement attack, the figure making the leaving engagement attack receives one automatic wound.

CYBERNETIC ENHANCEMENTS
When KGBeast attacks an adjacent figure, add 1 to his normal attack. When KGBeast attacks a non-adjacent figure, that figure may not receive any extra defense dice from height advantage, Destructible Objects, or Shadow Tiles.

- Give a brief preview. KGBeast is Viper’s new Enforcer and they are looking to take over all crime in DC’s version of Madripoor. The Teen Titans show up to let this new power know who’s really in charge. Nightwing gets the (3), if KGBeast can survive that long then he won’t be able to roll any defense dice at all! As such Rhino & Whirlwind will lead the charge early and try to take out Starfire (1) and Changeling (2). Whirlwind is the only flier, so his job is to keep Starfire from trying to camp on a building. Raven might just win this one by kiting at the end once Whirlwind goes down, but we’ll see.

Details: R1, Vipers +2 to Initiative makes a difference and they go first. Mostly just moving up of both teams, but Changeling gets hit for 3Ws. R2, Viper wins initiative again, Rhino rushes Changeling & Raven, Changeling gambles on a Porcupine def. roll vs. 1 skull and takes a W. Raven. Starfire, & Nightwing all att. Rhino a total of 6 times, inflicting just 1W, tough + the bonus def. die from Viper were great here. Raven took just 1W from Changeling. KGB can’t get an angle to att. Starfire on top of the building, moving into range to do so would see him engaged with Nightwing, so he moves & att. Changeling once more, another 3W’s! This changes Vipers plans as now she wants to get within 3 spaces to use her poison and finish him off, so she moves down into the street and does just that. OM2 lost on Changeling. Whirlwind engages Starfire and lowers her def. while using Barrage to score 1W on her. Raven transfers a W from her to Whirlwind. R3, Viper wins initiative again, KGB can now move to a spot to target Starfire, and att. her but gets blocked. Viper however, moves adj. to Nightwing and hits him for 2W’s, then the poison on her blade gives him another W! Raven takes a LEA from Rhino (miss) to engage Viper & att. for 1W, Starfire att. Whirlwind 3 times and takes him out, then misses KGB, Nightwing moves into Shadow, att. Viper but gets blocked. OM2 lost on Whirlwind. Starfire moves so she can see Nightwing once more and att. Viper from HG, 4 att. of 5 take her out. KGB moves into shadow to hide from Starfire, gambles he can finish off Nightwing and hits for 1W! Raven flies up on top of the building and att. Rhino, blocked. R4, Rhino wins initiative, moves towards the ladder. Starfire repositions to see Rhino, miss. Rhino ‘charges’ up the ladder, ends up hurting himself for 1W (? not sure if he can use the Charge to go straight up a ladder or not). Raven takes a LEA (1W) and moves adj. to Starfire, att. Rhino, blocked. KGB moves onto ladder. Starfire att. Rhino twice, blocked. R5, Rhino moves onto the building roof and engages Starfire, 1W. Raven takes both W’s from Starfire, att. Rhino, 2W! KGB moves onto the building roof, sees a chance to maybe take out Raven if he can score 2W before she can transfer 1 away and opts to att. her, 1W. Starfire sees the threat, takes a LEA from Rhino (1W), engages KGB & takes him out with just 3 attacks, then att. Rhino, blocked. Starfire att. Rhino 4 times for just 1W, KGB shoots at Raven but gets blocked, Raven transfers a W to Rhino and he goes down. R6, KGB wins initiative, he can no longer kill Raven, so he att. Starfire, 2W. Starfire att. KGB 3 times and it’s over.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Raven w/3W’s & Starfire w/2W’s won.

Recap: The criminals won initiative in every round but couldn’t pull out a victory. Changeling went down first, then Whirlwind in the next round, both costing their teams an OM. Viper goes down, she became a big target due to her poison power, but Nightwing whiffed on his only two def. rolls of the game and goes down right after that to keep things interesting. It seemed like the crooks had a chance once they climbed up the ladder, but Raven did what she does, and they missed their one chance at a victory.
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Everything seems okay here, realizing I should have picked Changeling for the (1) and Starfire for the (2) though. Might have made the difference later.
- What should be the unit's point value? 200 seems in the ballpark here, it was a pretty even match until the end when Raven makes it almost impossible for one team to win. Being able to negate the HG bonus on top of the negative defense modifier makes him a good choice for countering flying units, that don’t have MD and can send the W’s right back at you.

Chili Glyph Impact: Ollie tried to make KGB eat some chili, he only had 1 life left too, but rolled an 8 and it had no effect on him. This attempt at chili serving had Ollie engaging KGB instead of using his Skill Shot power, he rolled 4 skulls on that adj. attack and KGB rolled 3 shields. Might have been better off going for the Skill Shot. Rolled for the chili again after Shiva’s turn, rolled an 11. KGB went next, another 11 was rolled. Then Ollie took KGB out.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Kingpin II w/full health & Lady Shiva w/2W’s won.

Recap: R1, lots of moving, Ollie att. Batman but is blocked. R2, Zemo moves up, Batman goes Psycho, Ollie att. him again, 2W! Bullseye hits Swordsman for 2W. Swordsman slices Bullseye for 2W, then misses! KGB takes down Swordsman. R3, Zemo X traps Bullseye. Abomination leaps next to Batman and hits him for 1W, tries to throw Batman but fails. Batman grapples up to the top of the building, uses his SA on Abomination, 2W! Abomination follows him up with another Super Leap, fails to hit him but this time throws him into the street adj. to Bullseye. KGB moves & att. Zemo, 4W! OM3 lost on Zemo. R3, Bullseye moves away from Psycho Batman, att. Crossbones, blocked. Crossbones engages and brutalizes Bullseye for 1W. Then Batman shows Crossbones what brutal really looks like with a 6 skull att. roll, Crossbones tries to use Bullseye as a human shield but fails, taking 3Ws. Ollie misses KGB. KGB shoots back and hits Ollie for 2W. Abomination drops down, att. Batman, blocked, so he throws him adj. to KGB. R4, KGB moves away from Psycho Batman, att. Abomination, 2W. Ollie runs across the street and engages KGB & Batman, att. Batman and takes him out. OM2 lost on Batman. Abomination att. Bullseye, blocked, throws him into street still engaged with Crossbones. KGB takes LEA from Ollie (miss), att. Abomination for another 2W. Abomination rushes KGB, att. from LG, 1W, fails to throw him. R5, KGB att. Abomination from HG, blocked! Abomination moves up to even ground, 2W, but again fails to throw him. KGB takes out Abomination. Crossbones att. Bullseye from HG, blocked. Lady Shiva moves up. Ollie moves over to the chili glyph, att. Bullseye from HG, blocked. R6, Bullseye moves up to even ground, att. Crossbones, blocked. Crossbones brutalizes Bullseye for 2W, he goes down. Ollie brings the chili out, stops to shoot an arrow at Lady Shiva in the street, 2W. Lady Shiva att. Crossbones with 6 dice, gets only 1 skull and is blocked. Ollie brings KGB a bowl of chili, but first he punches him in the face for 1W. Lady Shiva finally drops Crossbones. R7, KGB att. Ollie, blocked. Ollie att. KGB & takes him out. Shiva engages Ollie and takes him out to end things.
- Does it pass, Yes or No? This one renews my concerns a bit about the -3 def. one when combined with stat boosters, but I do feel it can be managed as a little better dice luck for Zemo’s crew and perhaps this one would have been closer. So I’ll say yes, but recommend a points bump.
- What should be the unit's point value? KGB dished out some damage in the last game, but in this one everything came together with him rolling all those skulls while attacking his targets in the right order and being boosted by KP or KP & his Cybernetics. It was pretty impressive the number of wounds he inflicted, then the 5 def./life combo holds up pretty well too. I think he’s better than Bronze Tiger at 210 and comparable to Punisher at 210 as well. So that would be my floor.

Awesome thanks! He’s definitely a figure that will either over or under perform depending on how successful Nights of the Beast is. A lot of cases it’s difficult to pull off, but it’s there and really changes how you play the game, both you and your opponent. That said, I don’t mind going to 210, he’s still plenty good, especially in an assassin build. He’s still about on par with Batman I which was my goal.

I propose we move to editing at 210!
