Not to get too philosophical here, but can a map have a tree of death placed on it that did not start as a tree of life? Or can a tree of death only be placed after destroying a tree of life?

Seems like this does need clarification. I'm not sure a flip card is the best way to handle this design. I'd probably just do it like this:
LIFE AURA
Undead figures adjacent to this Tree of Life subtract 1 from their Defense number. Figures adjacent to this Tree of Life that are not Undead or destructible objects add 1 to their Defense number. When this Tree of Life is destroyed, replace it immediately with a Tree of Death.

And just treat it as two separate designs? Don't see any reason this needs to be a flip card and having the flex to start with Trees of Death on a map seems fine. (which per our flip card rulings wouldn't really be possible)

I do like having the flexibility of being able to start put with either type on a map. So I’m pro-separation.

I just think the design is wicked cool and I'd love to see more tools for mapbuilding. While I understand the appeal of putting this on a flip card, I would think you'd rather have the utility of being able to start with either on the map.

Thanks for asking the question Alex! I think it might be nice to separate these two into different designs so that they could be placed separately.

I would like to propose we turn the Tree of Life and Tree of Death into 2 separate designs, allowing you to create maps using either a Tree of Life or Tree of Death with Tickle's suggested wording change for Tree of Life.

LIFE AURA
